Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Returning to Orlando
Isaac (knee) will return to the Magic on a one-year deal, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports Wednesday.
The Magic waived Isaac on June 27, but there was always mutual interest in a return. Across 52 regular-season appearances during the 2025-26 campaign, Isaac produced averages of 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per contest before a left knee sprain sidelined him through the end of the season. He's likely going to be facing an uphill battle for playing time in 2026-27, even if he's healthy.

Jonathan Isaac: Cut loose by Orlando
Isaac (knee) was waived by the Magic on Saturday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Isaac had been with the Magic since the organization selected him No. 6 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, but he'll now depart after his effectiveness and role diminished in recent years. Across 52 regular-season appearances during the 2025-26 campaign, the 28-year-old averaged 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per contest before a left knee sprain sidelined him from mid-March through Orlando's Eastern Conference first-round series loss. Isaac will now seek a fresh opportunity elsewhere, and while earning a consistent role may prove challenging, the forward's length and defensive ability may make him an intriguing option for teams looking to bolster their frontcourt depth.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Out again for Game 7
Isaac (knee) is listed as out for Sunday's Game 7 of the Eastern Conference first-round series against the Pistons.
Isaac hasn't played during this series, so his absence shouldn't catch anyone by surprise. If Orlando manages to advance to the second round, it's unknown if Isaac will be ready to go. However, even if the 28-year-old gets cleared to return at some point this postseason, he likely won't be much of a factor on either end of the floor.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Not expected to play Sunday
Isaac (knee) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's Game 7 of the Eastern Conference first-round series against Detroit.
Isaac has appeared in only one game in the last two months, so the doubtful designation is hardly a surprise. If the 28-year-old manages to return for Sunday's contest, he may not see any action. If anything, Isaac might only be used sporadically throughout the contest for situational purposes.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Downgraded to out
Isaac (knee) is out for Friday's Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs against Detroit.
As expected, the Magic have downgraded Isaac from doubtful to out for Game 6 due to a left knee sprain. If the Pistons survive Friday and force a Game 7, Isaac wouldn't appear to be in line to be available for that contest either.

The Magic are listing Isaac as doubtful with a left knee sprain ahead of a fourth consecutive contest. Jamal Cain is already set to fill in for the injured Franz Wagner (calf) on Friday, so it's possible Tristan da Silva will be needed to pick up a few extra minutes in Game 6.

A sprained left knee has cost Isaac over a month and a half of action, and the oft-injured forward remains unlikely to return in Game 5. With Isaac expected to stay on the shelf, Jamal Cain should remain a fixture off the bench for the Magic on Wednesday.
