Markkanen started his ninth season with a bang. The Finnish star sank four triples en route to 20 points on just 13 shots. He rounded out his night with five assists and six rebounds in a resounding Utah win. Already an excellent shooter and proficient rebounder, increased playmaking could set Markkanen up for a big year.

This was Markkanen's first appearance of the preseason after a wrist injury he sustained at EuroBasket delayed his full participation at training camp. Markkanen has yet to play during the preseason, but he was trending in the right direction after logging a full practice Sunday. Health has always been an issue for Markkanen, who appeared in a career-low 47 regular-season games in 2024-25 and has never played in more than 66 contests during a single campaign.
