Top Blake Wesley News

  • Trail Blazers' Blake Wesley: Undergoes surgery, out 8-12 weeks

Wesley underwent a successful procedure to repair a fracture of the fifth metatarsal base in his right foot Wednesday, and he's expected to be sidelined for 8-to-12 weeks, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports.

A fifth metatarsal fracture is a notoriously tough injury to recover from, and there's a high chance of experiencing a setback if brought back too soon, so it wouldn't be shocking to see Wesley's absence extend beyond this 12-week window. At minimum, he'll be out through the end of December, so he can safely remain on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.

  • Trail Blazers' Blake Wesley: Out indefinitely

Wesley suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture in his right foot and will be sidelined indefinitely, Sean Highkin of Rip City Radio 620 Portland reports.

Wesley sustained the injury in Friday's win over Denver, during which he posted five points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two assists and two steals across 10 minutes. With the 22-year-old guard sidelined, Shaedon Sharpe (calf), Rayan Rupert and two-way player Caleb Love are candidates for a bump in minutes. Over six regular-season appearances, Wesley has averaged 6.0 points, 3.2 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals across 16.3 minutes per contest.

  • Trail Blazers' Blake Wesley: Fares well off bench

Wesley finished Sunday's 114-107 loss to the Clippers with six points (2-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 17 minutes.

Wesley hasn't been shooting the ball well through three games with a 33.3 percent mark from the field, but he's doing a solid job as the backup point guard behind Jrue Holiday. Wesley is averaging 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals in 17.3 minutes per contest, and he's likely to hold onto the role until Scoot Henderson (hamstring) gets the green light to return.

  • Trail Blazers' Blake Wesley: Contributes 13 points from bench

Wesley tallied 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 FT, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds, an assist and a steal across 19 minutes during Friday's 124-123 preseason win over the Kings.

Wesley agreed to a one-year deal with Portland after a circuitous trip through the waiver wire. Waived by the Wizards, Wesley will attempt to jumpstart his pro career after failing to catch on with the Spurs during a three-year stint. Wesley is unlikely to make a fantasy impact with many established players above him on the depth chart.

  • Trail Blazers' Blake Wesley: Joining Portland

Wesley and the Trail Blazers agreed to a one-year deal on Tuesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Wesley, who was recently waived by the Wizards, was scooped up quickly by Portland. Wesley spent the past three seasons in San Antonio, where he accumulated career regular-season averages of 4.3 points, 2.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds on 40.9 percent shooting from the field. He'll be facing an uphill battle for playing time in Portland, however.

  • Blake Wesley: Waived by Washington

Wesley was waived by the Wizards on Saturday, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Wesley was acquired by the Wizards in the deal that sent Kelly Olynyk (heel) to the Spurs, but the guard won't suit up for Washington. He averaged 3.7 points, 2.0 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 11.8 minutes across 58 games during the 2024-25 season. Still just 22 years old, Wesley will likely land another opportunity, though it may come in the form of a two-way contract or a G League role.

  • Wizards' Blake Wesley: Moved to Washington

The Spurs traded Wesley, Malaki Branham and a 2026 second-round pick to the Wizards for Kelly Olynyk (heel) on Tuesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Wesley is joining the Wizards after spending three seasons with the Spurs, most recently averaging 3.7 points, 2.0 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 11.8 minutes across 58 games during the 2024-25 campaign. The young guard joins a crowded backcourt that includes recent additions like veteran CJ McCollum and 2025 NBA Draft No. 6 overall pick Tre Johnson.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Notches eight points

Wesley finished with eight points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, four assists and two steals across 20 minutes during Sunday's 125-118 win over the Raptors.

Playing in his third NBA season, Wesley had yet another quiet campaign. Across 37 regular-season appearances, Wesley shot 43.5 percent from the field, 29.3 percent from beyond the arc and 62.3 percent from the line with 3.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.3 three-pointers. He'll enter the final season of his contract in 2025-26, valued at $4.73 million.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Scores season-high 15 points

Wesley produced 15 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), two rebounds and one assist in 21 minutes during Wednesday's 113-106 victory over Denver.

Wesley joined Malaki Branham and Sandro Mamukelashvili in scoring double-digit points off San Antonio's bench in Wednesday's win. Wesley has become a consistent part of the Spurs' rotation, averaging 20.2 minutes per contest across his last 10 appearances. The 22-year-old guard has also been very efficient from beyond the arc over that span, converting 47.6 percent of his 2.1 three-point attempts per contest.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Sees 27 minutes

Wesley accumulated five points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-4 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two steals across 27 minutes during Sunday's 148-106 loss to the Warriors.

Wesley has been getting more opportunities with the Spurs, but his fantasy production has left a lot to be desired. Over his last eight games, Wesley has produced averages of 5.9 points, 2.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.9 three-pointers in 20.4 minutes.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Strong showing off bench

Wesley closed Monday's 125-109 loss to the Lakers with seven points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals in 22 minutes.

Wesley posted a solid all-around line in the loss, but lines like these have been few and far between -- he was coming off a scoreless outing in 10 minutes against the Pelicans on Saturday. The Spurs are 13th in the Western Conference and De'Aaron Fox (finger) is done for the season, so Wesley could find more opportunities down the stretch.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Emerges with 10 points off bench

Wesley finished with 10 points (3-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals over 24 minutes during Friday's 145-134 loss to Charlotte.

The 2022 first-rounder logged his most minutes since the Dec. 13 win over Portland, and his 10 points were his most since way back on Nov. 26. Although it was rookie first-rounder Stephon Castle who stepped into the starting lineup, it would appear initially that Wesley is also one of the direct beneficiaries of the absence of De'Aaron Fox (finger) for the remainder of 2024-25. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on Wesley's role moving ahead.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Notches 11 points

Wesley produced 11 points (4-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-4 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 22 minutes during Tuesday's 128-115 win over the Jazz.

Wesley saw his largest workload of the season Tuesday and made the most of his minutes. However, the Spurs will be getting Devin Vassell (knee) back in action Wednesday, so Wesley will face an uphill battle for consistent minutes when the Spurs are close to full strength.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Near double-double off bench

Wesley ended Thursday's 118-105 victory over the Trail Blazers with 10 points (4-4 FG, 2-2 FT), one rebound, eight assists and two steals in 21 minutes.

With Jeremy Sochan (thumb), Devin Vassell (foot) and Tre Jones (ankle) sidelined and Malaki Branham (ankle) leaving the contest early, Wesley saw an increased role and made the most of it, recording season highs in points, assists, steals and minutes played. It was only the fourth time Wesley played double-digit minutes this season, and despite the solid performance, he'll likely remain in a limited role. Sochan is expected to miss multiple weeks, but Vassell has been cleared to make his season debut Saturday, while Jones and Branham could be back sooner than later.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Logs season-high 13 minutes

Wesley amassed five points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and one rebound in 13 minutes during Wednesday's 105-93 loss to Oklahoma City.

Wesley logged a season high in minutes, a feat that is not that impressive given his previous high was 12. A portion of his playing time came at the back end of the game, once the result was decided. Even with the Spurs' guard depth a little thin, Wesley has been unable to carve out a meaningful role. Barring a significant shift in their rotations, Wesley is not someone who needs to be considered in standard formats.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Has option picked up

Wesley had his fourth-year team option picked up by the Spurs on Friday, Ty Jager of FanSided.com reports.

Wesley averaged 5.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.3 blocks and 0.4 triples across 17.0 minutes in the final 20 games of his sophomore season in San Antonio. Although his option was picked up, the guard will presumably have to earn a spot providing depth in the backcourt once the regular season tips off.
