  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Won't play vs. Indiana

Holmgren (shoulder) has been ruled out for Saturday's preseason game against the Pacers, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Holmgren will be among the notable players on his squad who will not suit up. The Gonzaga product is dealing with shoulder soreness and has missed the team's last three preseason games.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Dealing with shoulder soreness

Holmgren (shoulder) is out for Thursday's preseason game against the Hornets, Rylan Stiles of SI.com reports.

The Thunder are taking a cautious approach while the star big man manages shoulder soreness. He can be deemed day-to-day ahead of Saturday's exhibition matchup in Indiana. Ousmane Dieng and Jaylin Williams should see more frontcourt playing time once Isaiah Hartenstein's night comes to an end.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Unavailable Monday

Holmgren (rest) won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Nick Gallo of the Thunder's official site reports.

Holmgren sat out Sunday's preseason opener against the Hornets and will remain sidelined Monday. Preserving the young big man's health is a priority for the Thunder after he was limited to just 32 regular-season appearances last year. With Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein (rest) both unavailable, Ousmane Dieng and Jaylin Williams should see extended frontcourt minutes against the Mavericks.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Agrees to five-year max extension

Holmgren agreed to a fully guaranteed five-year maximum rookie contract extension with the Thunder on Wednesday that could reach $250 million, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

After missing his rookie season due to a foot injury, the 2022 No. 2 overall pick appeared in all 82 regular-season games as a sophomore. Holmgren was injured again in 2024-25, missing three months early in the season due to a hip fracture. However, he appeared in all 23 postseason contests, averaging 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 29.8 minutes per game, and he played an integral part in Oklahoma City's first NBA title. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander landed a long-term extension Tuesday, and now the Thunder will turn their sights on locking down All-NBA talent Jalen Williams (wrist).

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Swats five shots in win

Holmgren ended with 18 points (6-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-8 FT), eight rebounds, five blocks and one steal in 31 minutes during Sunday's 103-91 win over the Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Holmgren had some tough injury luck in 2024-25, missing a huge chunk of the season with a right iliac hip fracture. Playing in his second NBA season, Holmgren made 32 regular-season appearances, posting averages of 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.2 blocks, 0.7 steals and 1.4 three-pointers on 49.0 percent from the field and 75.4 percent from the line.
