Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Double-double in Sunday's loss
Pritchard accumulated 21 points (8-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds and four assists across 34 minutes during Sunday's 119-113 loss to the Pistons.
The 27-year-old guard delivered his best performance yet on the young season, with the double-double being his first since April 9 against the Magic last season. Pritchard has seen a big increase in his usage due to Jayson Tatum (Achilles) being unavailable and the Celtics having shed plenty of talent in the offseason, and he's off to a solid start to what could easily be a career-best campaign, averaging 15.0 points, 6.7 boards, 4.0 assists, 1.3 threes and 1.0 steals in 35.7 minutes through three games.

Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Drops 16 in season opener
Pritchard tallied 16 points (6-14 FG, 1-7 3 Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals over 37 minutes in Wednesday's 117-116 loss to Philadelphia.
Pritchard won the starting role over Anfernee Simons (as expected) and actually ended up leading the team in minutes. Although his efficiency from behind the three-point line wasn't great, he averaged an astounding 41.1 percent on 7.8 attempts (3.2 three-point shots made) in the 2024-25 regular season, so fantasy managers should expect his numbers to approach this baseline as the season progresses.

Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Double-doubles in win
Pritchard produced 10 points (1-11 FG, 0-8 3Pt, 8-8 FT), 10 assists, three rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes of Wednesday's 110-108 preseason win over the Raptors.
Pritchard was ice cold from the field, but he stepped up in other areas Wednesday. He appears to have locked up the starting point guard role, and now there's a chance for possibly more usage early on with Jaylen Brown tweaking his hamstring Wednesday.

The Celtics will give Pritchard a look in the first unit Friday. The sharpshooter will likely open the regular season in a reserve capacity. Still, it's safe to say Pritchard will have a significant playmaking role for a Boston team that will be without Jayson Tatum (Achilles) for most of the season.

He was a top-80 player while averaging just 28.4 minutes per game last season, so he should see a boost with an expanded role in Boston.

Pritchard ended with 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), two rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes during Friday's 119-81 loss to New York in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The NBA's Sixth Man of the Year, Pritchard had a terrific 2024-25 campaign for the Celtics. Across 80 regular-season contests, Pritchard averaged 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc. A larger role for Pritchard could be on the table in 2025-26 due to Jayson Tatum (Achilles) facing a lengthy rehab.

This was Boston's first game without superstar Jayson Tatum (Achilles), and as evidenced by Pritchard's workload, the Celtics are clearly going to lean heavily on the point guard going forward. Plus, Kristaps Porzingis continues to battle an illness, meaning Pritchard could see heavy usage for the foreseeable future.

Pritchard supplied 12 points (4-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one steal across 20 minutes during Monday's 121-113 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Jayson Tatum wasn't able to return to Game 4 due to an apparent right lower-leg injury, and he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday. The Celtics are using a very tight rotation in the playoffs, and if Tatum is forced to miss time, Pritchard would likely be the player to step into a featured role for Boston.

Pritchard ended Saturday's 115-93 win over New York in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with 23 points (8-16 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal over 35 minutes.
Surprisingly, Pritchard led the Celtics in scoring, and his elite shooting ability was on full display Saturday. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year made 50 percent of his threes and delivered his best scoring output of the current postseason run. Pritchard has scored in double digits in five of his eight playoff showings to date.

Pritchard scored in double digits for the second straight game, albeit barely. All in all, it's been a quiet postseason for Pritchard, with him scoring more than 15 points only once. His role is to provide the team with a scoring punch off the bench, something he has failed to do for the most part. Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday and will give Pritchard a chance to turn things around.
