  • Rockets' Clint Capela: Muted role continues

Capela finished with four points (1-3 FG, 2-4 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 18 minutes during Saturday's 128-101 victory over the Celtics. Capela logged a season-high 18 minutes, grabbing double-digit boards for the first time this season. Playing as the third-string center, Capela's time as a viable fantasy asset appears to have come to an end. Through five games, he is averaging just 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per game.

  • Rockets' Clint Capela: Productive in 14 minutes

Capela logged eight points (4-4 FG), one rebound and two blocks over 14 minutes during Monday's 137-109 victory over the Nets. Capela continues to see a minor role in the frontcourt to open the season. Both Steven Adams and Capela were brought off the bench Monday, as the Rockets opted for a smaller starting lineup with Josh Okogie getting the nod. As long as Alperen Sengun and Adams are healthy, Capela won't have a big runway for fantasy value.

  • Rockets' Clint Capela: Sees eight minutes

Capela chipped in four points (1-1 FG, 2-2 FT) and one steal over eight minutes during Tuesday's 125-124 double-overtime loss to Oklahoma City. The Rockets started a jumbo lineup of Steven Adams and Alperen Sengun in the front court Tuesday, but coach Ime Udoka has previously said that lineups could be fluid based on matchups. Still, it's pretty telling that Capela logged just eight minutes in this double-overtime loss. There will likely be some games where Capela is way more involved, and it's worth noting that Adams is expected to have a maintenance plan. But if Tuesday was any indication, Capela's fantasy appeal isn't the greatest as things currently stand.

  • Rockets' Clint Capela: Off report for Opening Night

Capela (rest) is off the Rockets' injury report for Tuesday's game against the Thunder. Capela sat out Thursday's preseason finale but will return to game action in Houston's regular-season opener. The veteran big man is expected to provide frontcourt depth behind Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams this season, though he isn't guaranteed significant playing time.

  • Rockets' Clint Capela: Won't suit up Thursday

Capela (rest) won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Hawks, Vanessa Richardson of Space City Home Network reports. Along with most of Houston's regulars, Capela will sit out the team's preseason finale. The 31-year-old center's next chance to play will come in Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Thunder.

  • Rockets' Clint Capela: Nearly double-doubles

Capela put up eight points (3-8 FG, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes of Wednesday's 140-127 preseason win over Utah. Steven Adams got the night off for rest after playing 16 minutes in the preseason opener Monday. In that same game, Capela once again saw 18 minutes. The starters haven't seen full workloads yet, but it seems likely that Capela is heading towards a role with minutes in the teens, given the crowded frontcourt. For what it's worth, coach Ime Udoka has talked about using double-center lineups at times with Capela and Adams spending some time alongside Alperen Sengun.

  • Rockets' Clint Capela: Signs deal with Houston

Capela (hand) agreed to a three-year, $21.5 million deal with the Rockets on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Capela will return to Houston, where he spent the first six years of his career. However, he's expected to compete for minutes with Steven Adams behind Alperen Sengun. Over 55 regular-season outings (41 starts) with Atlanta in 2024-25, Capela averaged 8.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 blocks across 21.4 minutes per game. The veteran big man missed the Hawks' final 17 regular-season games due to a sprained left hand but is expected to be ready for training camp.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Another absence coming

Capela (hand) won't play in Friday's Play-In Game versus the Heat, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Capela hasn't played since March 10 due to a sprained left hand. Onyeka Okongwu will continue to start in his absence. Atlanta will have to advance past Miami in the Play-In Tournament to give Capela another chance at suiting up this season.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Won't play Tuesday

Capela (hand) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Magic, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Capela will miss an 18th straight game for the Hawks due to a sprained left hand. Atlanta will continue to turn to Onyeka Okongwu, Dominick Barlow and Mouhamed Gueye to shoulder the load at the center position to begin the Play-In Tournament on Tuesday.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Out at least three weeks

Capela underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed a ligament injury in the fourth metacarpal of his left hand, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He'll be out for 3-to-4 weeks before being re-evaluated. Capela had missed the Hawks' last four games due to a family matter, but he apparently injured his hand at some point before his recent leave of absence. Given the timeline laid out by the Hawks, Capela won't be back before the end of the regular season, and the team may need to advance past the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament for the veteran center to have a chance at playing again during the 2024-25 campaign. Dominick Barlow has stepped in for Capela over the past four games as the Hawks' backup center and has averaged 7.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 assists in 17.5 minutes per contest. Barlow should continue to hold down a spot in the rotation for the foreseeable future, at least until Larry Nance (knee) is cleared to play again.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Not playing Tuesday

Capela (personal) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Hornets, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Tuesday will be the fourth game in a row that Capela will miss while attending to a personal matter. There's no clear timeline for his return, but his next opportunity to do so is Saturday against Golden State.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Won't be available Sunday

Capela (personal) is out for Sunday's game against the Nets, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Capela is set to miss a third straight game due to personal reasons, and there's no clear timetable for his return. His next chance to suit up will come against the Hornets on Tuesday, but there's no clarity on when he'll return to the hardwood.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Remains out Friday

Capela (personal) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Clippers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Capela will miss his second consecutive contest due to personal reasons. His next chance to play will come Sunday against Brooklyn. Dominick Barlow and Mouhamed Gueye are candidates for an uptick in playing time due to Capela being sidelined.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Questionable for Friday

Capela (personal) is questionable to play Friday against the Clippers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Capela also missed Wednesday's game due to personal reasons, and is in danger of missing Friday's as well. Capela has been a valuable member of the bench ever since being relegated to the second unit Jan. 20, averaging 7.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.6 steals over 17.4 minutes. However, if he can't go, expect Dominick Barlow to see extended run backing up Onyeka Okongwu.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Won't play Wednesday

Capela has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Hornets due to personal reasons, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Capela is slated to miss his first game since the All-Star break. He's played more than 20 minutes only once over his last 10 appearances. Still, in Capela's absence, Dominick Barlow is a candidate for a bigger reserve role behind Onyeka Okongwu.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Scores 11 in win

Capela totaled 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 16 minutes in Monday's 132-130 win over the Grizzlies. Capela had a solid impact on offense Monday, scoring in double figures for the first time since returning from a back injury Jan. 28. The 30-year-old had been the unquestioned starting center for the Hawks from 2020 through the first 41 games this season, but he's taken a back seat to Onyeka Okongwu. In 10 games coming off the bench, Capela is averaging 8.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 17.4 minutes.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Plays 18 minutes in return

Capela had three points (1-6 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block in 18 minutes during Thursday's 114-108 loss to Orlando. Capela returned to action Thursday following a nine-game absence due to a back injury. He'll likely continue to come off the bench for the Hawks while Onyeka Okongwu serves as Atlanta's starting center. Capela has averaged 8.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks over 20.6 minutes per game since the beginning of January.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Available vs. Orlando

Capela (back) has been cleared to play in Thursday's game against the Magic. After missing nine straight games with a back issue, Capela will return to the floor Thursday against Orlando. The veteran big man's return to the Hawks' lineup will be a massive boost in the frontcourt. He's averaging nearly a double-double with 9.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 blocks per game, shooting 57.3 percent from the floor.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Late scratch Wednesday

Capela (back) will be inactive for Wednesday's game against the Knicks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Head coach Quin Snyder says Capela is ramping up and will continue to do so through the All-Star break following an extended absence with back spasms, which surprisingly rules the veteran big man out Wednesday despite having been omitted from Atlanta's injury report. His next chance to play comes Feb. 20 against the Magic. Onyeka Okongwu will hang on to enhanced fantasy value for at least one more game, as he's averaged 13.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks in 28.6 minutes over nine games with Capela unavailable this season.

  • Hawks' Clint Capela: Off injury report for Wednesday

Capela (personal) is off the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Knicks. Capela has missed eight straight games due to a back injury and personal reasons, but he's set to be available for the Hawks on Wednesday. The veteran big man's return is bad news for the fantasy appeal of Onyeka Okongwu, who appears likely to shift back to Atlanta's second unit. Capela has averaged 9.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.0 minutes over his last nine games.
