  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Won't play Wednesday

Embiid (illness) is out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards. After not being listed on the initial injury report, which dropped Tuesday, Embiid popped up Wednesday morning as out due to an illness. He then posted on X saying he was going to play through the ailment, which wouldn't have been surprising after he did so Monday in Miami, posting 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes. However, Embiid has since posted on X again, saying that the organization is indeed shutting him down against Washington. Team president Daryl Morey confirmed Embiid will be out, saying the center missed the team's morning film session and will be checked out by a doctor, Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Status in doubt

Embiid (illness) is officially listed as out on Philadelphia's injury report, but the superstar big man posted on X saying he was going to play Wednesday against the Wizards. Embiid wasn't listed on the initial injury report, which dropped Tuesday, but he popped up Wednesday morning as out due to an illness. He played through an ailment Monday in Miami, posting 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes, so the downgrade was surprising. The 76ers have yet to officially upgrade Embiid, and fantasy managers should assume he won't play until that happens. Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com suggests that Embiid's post was a joke for April Fools' Day.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for Wednesday

Embiid (illness) is out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Embiid wasn't previously on the injury report, so this is an unfortunate development for his fantasy managers. He was dealing with an illness back on Monday against Miami, yet he posted 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes. Embiid himself posted on social media that he's going to play, but several beat reporters have shut down that notion. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond will likely pick up some minutes with Embiid on the shelf.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Not listed on injury report

Embiid (illness) isn't listed on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Wizards. Embiid was under the weather during Monday's loss to the Heat, when he posted 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes. However, the illness won't cause him to miss Wednesday's contest. The star big man has appeared in three straight outings, averaging 30.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 blocks in 32.7 minutes per contest over that stretch.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Adds 26 points in win

Embiid said after Monday's 119-109 loss to the Heat that he played through an illness, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. He finished with 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes. Embiid didn't look quite himself during Monday's game and acknowledged afterward that he was feeling under the weather. He'll have Tuesday off to rest before Philadelphia's next game Wednesday in Washington. Embiid can be considered day-to-day until further notice.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Pours in team-high 29 points

Embiid produced 29 points (8-19 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 10-13 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 36 minutes during Saturday's 118-114 victory over Charlotte. Although the superstar big man's lack of availability has been frustrating in 2025-26, there's no denying his impact on the court when healthy. Embiid has averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.0 blocks in 32.9 minutes per tilt in his last 10 appearances, shooting 52.5 percent from the field.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Dazzles in return

Embiid (oblique) posted 35 points (12-17 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), seven assists, six rebounds and one block over 28 minutes during the 76ers' 157-137 win over the Bulls on Wednesday. Embiid was given the green light to return from a 13-game absence due to a strained right oblique. The one-time league MVP wasted no time getting to work Wednesday, scoring 15 points in the first quarter before adding another 12 in the third frame. Even with such a large lead, Embiid ended up playing the entire third quarter, an encouraging sign for his conditioning following a lengthy absence. With Paul George also returning to action Wednesday after serving a 25-game suspension and Kelly Oubre (elbow) and Tyrese Maxey (finger) both close to returns, Embiid and the 76ers will look to close out the regular season strongly as they attempt to improve on their seeding ahead of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Upgraded to available

Embiid (oblique) will play in Wednesday's game against the Bulls, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Embiid will return from a 13-game absence due to a strained right oblique. His return will mean fewer opportunities for Adem Bona and Andre Drummond. However, per Aaronson, Nick Nurse said Wednesday that the 76ers likely won't "go overboard" with Embiid's minutes.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Game-time call for Wednesday

Embiid (oblique) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Bulls. Embiid hasn't taken the court since Feb. 26 after picking up a right oblique strain. However, he's been back on the court recently to get work in and was scheduled to complete a more intensive workout Tuesday, per Austin Krell of OnPattison.com, so it appears he's getting closer to a return. The team should have an update on his status for Wednesday closer to game time.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Still out Monday

Embiid (oblique) is out for Monday's game against Oklahoma City. At this point, it remains a mystery regarding how long Embiid will stay on the shelf. While he is out of commission, Adem Bona is the favorite to stay in the starting lineup. Andre Drummond will also continue to be in line for more work.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for Saturday

Embiid (oblique) is out for Saturday's game in Utah. Embiid was listed as doubtful for Thursday's game before getting ruled out, but now the 76ers have gone back to listing him as out a full day in advance of tipoff. He remains without an official timetable, so he's a cut candidate for those currently battling through the fantasy playoffs. Andre Drummond and Adem Bona will likely continue to hold down the fort at the center spot in Embiid's absence.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Downgraded to out

Embiid (oblique) is out for Thursday's game against the Kings. Embiid continues to recover from a right oblique strain. Saturday's tilt in Utah marks his next chance to play. The center minutes should be divvied up among Andre Drummond and Adem Bona on Thursday.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Doubtful for Thursday

Embiid (oblique) is doubtful for Thursday's game in Sacramento. While Embiid is unlikely to play, this is the first time he's been hit with the doubtful tag since going down with the oblique injury, which indicates progress. Check back for official confirmation on Embiid's status closer to Thursday's tipoff.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for Tuesday

Embiid (oblique) won't play Tuesday against Denver, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. The Sixers noted over the weekend that Embiid has been progressing in his recovery, but he's not quite healthy enough to gain clearance for Tuesday's game. His next opportunity to take the court will arrive Thursday in Sacramento.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Progressing, but timeline TBD

Philadelphia head coach Nick Nurse said that Embiid (oblique) returned to basketball activities Friday, but it's still unclear when the center will be able to suit up again, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Per Aaronson, Nurse said he doesn't "want to anticipate anything" regarding Embiid's return timeline, but the coach didn't rule out the superstar big man suiting up during Philadelphia's upcoming three-game road trip, which starts Tuesday in Denver and ends Saturday in Utah. Embiid has already missed seven consecutive contests, and given Nurse's comments, the seven-time All-Star looks poised to miss at least the next two home games. With Andre Drummond and Adem Bona day-to-day with back issues, Dominick Barlow and Trendon Watford are candidates for increased roles in the frontcourt moving forward.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for Saturday

Embiid (oblique) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Nets. Embiid will miss an eighth consecutive contest due to a right oblique strain, though he's expected to be re-evaluated soon. With the star big man sidelined, Adem Bona (back) and Andre Drummond (back), who are both listed as questionable, are candidates for increased playing time. If either of those two are ruled out, Trendon Watford would be in line for more playing time. Embiid's next opportunity to play will come Sunday against the Trail Blazers.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: To be re-evaluated in one week

Embiid (oblique) will be re-evaluated in approximately one week, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports Friday. Embiid has been sidelined since Feb. 26 after sustaining a right oblique strain during a win over the Heat. While he remains out for the immediate future, the 76ers announced that the big man has begun individual strength work, a positive sign in his recovery process. Philadelphia has a busy slate over the next week, and Embiid will miss at least the next four contests based on this timeline. Andre Drummond should continue to start at center in the interim, with Adem Bona serving as the primary backup. Embiid's next realistic chance to suit up will likely come in mid-March, although Philadelphia might opt to take a cautious approach with the injury-prone Embiid.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Has oblique strain, out three games

Embiid will be sidelined for the 76ers' next three games due to a right oblique strain, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. Embiid reported soreness on his right side following the 76ers' win over the Heat on Thursday, and further tests have revealed that the former MVP is dealing with an oblique strain. The injury is severe enough to sideline Embiid for at least the next three games, which makes March 7 against the Hawks his next opportunity to return. In Embiid's absence, Andre Drummond should serve as the Sixers' starting center while Adem Bona elevates to backup duties.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Dealing with side soreness

Embiid did not participate in Saturday morning's practice due to soreness on his right side, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports. Embiid felt the issue crop up after Thursday's 124-117 win over the Heat, when he logged 26 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one steal over 31 minutes. Per Ky Carlin of USA Today, Embiid will consult with team doctors Saturday, and the injury report should provide more clarity on the 2023-24 MVP's status ahead of Sunday's Atlantic Division road tilt against the Celtics. Andre Drummond and Adem Bona would likely take on more sizable roles if Embiid is not cleared to play Sunday.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Double-doubles in win

Embiid produced 26 points (8-20 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 8-9 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists and one steal over 31 minutes during Thursday's 124-117 win over the Heat. Embiid got kneed in the ribs early in the game, and while he played through it, he could be seen grimacing throughout the match. The good news is that the 76ers don't play again until Sunday versus the Celtics, so Embiid will have a full two days to rest up. However, if the big man does need to hit the sidelines Sunday, that would give Andre Drummond a chance to get back into the rotation.
