  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Could play Friday

76ers coach Nick Nurse said Tuesday that Embiid (knee) has a chance to play in Friday's final preseason game against the Timberwolves, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. Nurse said there are still some thresholds Embiid needs to get past in order to get on the floor, but he's trending in the right direction. Embiid was a full participant at Sunday's scrimmage, and by most accounts, he had a really strong showing. It's looking increasingly likely that Embiid is ready by Opening Night.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Goes through scrimmage

Embiid (knee) was a full participant at Sunday's scrimmage, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports. According to Krell, "Embiid played quite a bit and looked like his old self." He also noted that Embiid's body language was positive, and there's been several glowing reports about how he fared in the scrimmage. This was certainly a huge step in the right direction for Embiid's rehab. It remains to be seen if he'll participate in Friday's exhibition against the Timberwolves.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Remains out

Embiid (knee) won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Magic, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Embiid has been spotted going through five-on-five drills, but the big man has yet to suit up during preseason action. His last chance for game action before the regular season begins will be Friday, Oct. 17, against the Timberwolves. It's also unclear when Paul George (knee), Jared McCain (thumb) and Quentin Grimes (personal) will be ready for game action, but VJ Edgecombe (hip) is considered day-to-day.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Goes through practice

Embiid (knee) participated in Wednesday's practice, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Wednesday's practice contained some five-on-five drills, so this is an encouraging update for the 76ers and for Embiid's prospective fantasy managers. He does not have a concrete timetable to return, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. For now, there's no word if Embiid will feature in the preseason.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Won't play Saturday

Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Knicks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Embiid continues to recover from knee surgery that cut his 2024-25 campaign short. There's no clear timetable for his return to the floor. The next chance for him to return will be Oct. 10 against the Magic.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Unavailable Thursday

Embiid (knee) is not available for Thursday's preseason game against the Knicks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. This is no real surprise, as Embiid did not come into camp at 100 percent health. He did get in a full practice Saturday, but the center has not committed to a timetable yet. It remains to be seen if or when he'll step on the floor for preseason action.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Participates in practice Saturday

Head coach Nick Nurse said Embiid (knee) participated "quite a bit" in practice Saturday, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports. After playing in only 19 regular-season games with the team last season, Embiid's status for the 2025-26 campaign has been uncertain regarding his timetable for returning to the floor. However, this is a good sign for the one-time NBA MVP, as there's a chance he could return sooner rather than later.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Not ready to set timetable

During Friday's Media Day, Embiid (knee) said he's not ready to put a timetable on his return, Chris Mannix of SI.com reports. Embiid said he feels "pretty good" and that's "made a lot of progress," but he'll continue to take things day-by-day. Embiid underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in April, and while several reports indicated that he would be ready for training camp, it sounds like he's going to be limited to open the camp. As for his goal in 2025-26, Embiid said he wants to position himself to "play consistently." His health is going to be a hot topic for the next few weeks leading up to Opening Night.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Participating in live drills

Embiid is participating in live drills prior to the start of training camp. Embiid had resumed partial basketball activities as of mid-July, and it's encouraging to see him on the floor engaging in basketball activities ahead of the preseason. Team president Daryl Morey has previously said the superstar big man was "on track" to recover from arthroscopic left knee surgery in time for training camp. However, the 76ers have not yet officially cleared him for Opening Night. Fantasy managers should continue to treat Embiid as a high-risk, high-reward proposition in drafts.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Back to partial basketball activity

Embiid (knee) has resumed partial basketball activities, per Tony Jones of The Athletic. Although Embiid still hasn't progressed to full on-court basketball activities yet, the 76ers remain hopeful that he'll be cleared to suit up for the start of the 2025-26 season. Team president Daryl Morey also says the superstar big man is "on track" to be recovered from arthroscopic left knee surgery ahead of training camp this fall, which is a promising sign. If Embiid ends up being limited in any capacity to open the new campaign, Philadelphia would likely to turn to the likes of Adem Bona, Andre Drummond (toe) and Trendon Watford to soak up extra minutes at center.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Planning to be ready for camp

Embiid (knee) is planning to be "ready to go" for training camp, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports Wednesday. Embiid underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in April, and he's been progressing well in his recovery. The expectation is that the 31-year-old will be ready to go for training camp. Even though Embiid should be fully recovered ahead of the 2025-26 season, the 76ers could ease him back into game action, considering he appeared in 58 combined regular-season games over his last two seasons.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Undergoes successful surgery

The 76ers announced Friday that Embiid underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday, and he will be re-evaluated in approximately six weeks, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. Embiid has already been ruled out for the remainder of the season, and the 76ers have been eliminated from playoff contention. However, after an injury-plagued 2024-25 campaign in which Embiid made only 19 appearances, the superstar big man appears to be on track for basketball activities this summer. Even if he's available to begin the 2025-26 campaign, Embiid would likely face heavy restrictions.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Another knee surgery on tap

Embiid is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee next week, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. After being ruled out for the rest of the season in late February, Embiid met with team doctors to decide on a treatment plan for his lingering left knee injury. Following several weeks of consultations and tests, surgery was determined to be the best course of action. According to Charania, Embiid will be re-evaluated six weeks after the procedure, his second surgery on the knee over the past 14 months. While he's expected to make a full recovery, Embiid won't have any assurances of being ready to go for the start of the 2025-26 season. Embiid appeared in just 19 games this season and averaged 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 0.9 blocks over 30.2 minutes per game, and his 44.4 percent mark from the field was the lowest of his nine-year NBA career.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for season

Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of the season by the 76ers, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Embiid has been managing a left knee issue all season and has been shut down for the rest of the year. The one-time NBA MVP showed flashes of his dominant form over the course of the 2024-25 campaign for Philadelphia but simply couldn't stay on the floor consistently, resulting in the team ruling him out for the remaining 24 regular-season games. Andre Drummond and Guerschon Yabusele will likely see a significant boost in minutes with the superstar big man on the mend.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for Saturday

Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Golden State, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Embiid will miss his third consecutive contest due to the left knee injury, and his next chance to play will come Monday against Portland. However, the star big man was held out of Friday's practice, which bodes poorly for his return to game action by Monday. Embiid has appeared in only eight outings since Jan. 1, averaging 23.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 0.9 blocks across 31.5 minutes per contest.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Doesn't practice Friday

Embiid (knee) did not participate in Friday's practice, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports. Embiid has missed the club's last two outings due to the left knee injury, and his absence from practices does not bode well for his potential return ahead of Saturday's game against the Warriors. The Sixers are expected to update the star big man's status Friday afternoon, though he can be considered questionable at best for Saturday's contest until then. Embiid has appeared in only eight games since Jan. 1, averaging 23.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 0.9 blocks across 31.5 minutes per contest.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Won't play vs. New York

Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Knicks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Embiid will miss a second straight game Wednesday for the 76ers, as he continues to manage his left knee issues. Along with the superstar big man, Guerschon Yabusele (eye) will also miss this game against New York, which makes Philadelphia shorthanded in the frontcourt once again. Andre Drummond will likely have to shoulder the load in the paint against Karl-Anthony Towns and company.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out Monday

Embiid (knee) will not play Monday against the Bulls, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. Fantasy managers probably saw this one coming. Embiid was previously listed as questionable, but the franchise is likely to be very cautious going forward. According to Charania, the 76ers are consulting with doctors and specialists to determine the next steps for his recovery after he underwent additional imaging Monday. In the meantime, guys like Guerschon Yabusele and Andre Drummond could see increased roles for the 76ers.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Weighing treatment options

Embiid (knee) and the 76ers are consulting doctors and considering alternative options for his injured knee, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Embiid, who has played just 19 games this season as he continues to manage a left knee injury, is now considering alternative options after current load-management efforts and injections have not led to the desired improvements. Since returning from the All-Star break, Embiid has totaled 15 or fewer points in back-to-back games for the first time in nearly four years and reportedly experienced swelling in his left knee following Saturday's loss to the Nets. Although he's listed as questionable for Monday's contest against the Bulls, it wouldn't be shocking to see Embiid shut down for an extended period considering the repeated swelling in his knee and the proven ineffectiveness of current treatment methods.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Questionable for Monday

Coach Nick Nurse said Embiid (knee) didn't practice Sunday and is questionable for Monday's game against the Bulls, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. In two games since the All-Star break, Embiid has totaled 29 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in 58 minutes. He hasn't scored more than 30 points since Dec. 30 and has made only eight appearances since then. If Embiid is sidelined again, Guerschon Yabusele and Andre Drummond are candidates for increased roles.
