  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Out for at least two games

Davis (calf) is out for Saturday's game against the Pistons and Monday's game against the Rockets. Davis has been diagnosed with a low-grade left calf strain, and he'll be re-evaluated ahead of Wednesday's tilt against the Pelicans. The Mavericks are already dealing with injuries to Daniel Gafford (ankle) and Dereck Lively (knee), which will make it even more difficult to plug up the center position for the time being. Dwight Powell could be thrust into big minutes down low, while P.J. Washington could be used as a small-ball center more frequently.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Not expected to play Saturday

Davis (leg) is not expected to play Saturday against the Pistons, according to NBA reporter Marc Stein. Davis wasn't able to return to Wednesday's game against the Pacers due to left lower leg soreness. Stein doesn't note how serious the injury is, but the Mavericks are typically pretty cautious with their players. If Davis ends up sitting out, Dwight Powell could be in line for a start after starting the second half of Wednesday's game against the Pacers.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Won't return Wednesday

Davis (leg) will not return to Wednesday's game against the Pacers. It isn't clear exactly what happened to Davis when he suffered the injury. He came down normally after a jump shot but was unable to run back on defense, as he clutched at the ankle area of his left leg. Dwight Powell started the second half of Wednesday's game, so if Davis needs to skip Saturday's game in Detroit, Powell may have the opportunity to start.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Questionable to return

Davis is questionable to return to Wednesday's game against the Pacers due to left lower leg soreness. Davis departed Wednesday's game in the first quarter while favoring his left leg, and he's now questionable to return. While he's idle, Naji Marshall, Caleb Martin and Dwight Powell could see more minutes.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Exits with apparent leg injuury

Davis went back to the locker room during Wednesday's game against the Pacers with an apparent left leg injury, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports. Davis landed regularly on a jumper, but began favoring his left leg shortly after. The 32-year-old big man eventually departed the game and went back to the locker room for further evaluation. While he's out, Naji Marshall, Dwight Powell and Caleb Martin could see more action. Davis was listed on the injury report before Wednesday's game with an Achilles injury.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Will play vs. Indiana

Davis (Achilles) has been cleared to play in Wednesday's game against the Pacers, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports. Davis has been nursing an Achilles issue, but that won't keep him off the floor. The superstar big man has put up some solid numbers this season, averaging 25.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.1 percent from the floor and 27.3 percent from deep.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Likely to play Wednesday

Davis (Achilles) has been listed as probable to play in Wednesday's game against the Pacers. Davis is nursing an Achilles issue, but it doesn't appear severe enough to keep him off the floor. The superstar big man is coming off a 26-point double-double in Monday's game against the Thunder. He's averaging 25.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.1 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from deep.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Double-double in loss

Davis contributed 26 points (10-16 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists and one block over 38 minutes in Monday's 101-94 loss to the Thunder. Davis recorded his fourth consecutive 20-point double-double to open the season, though his effort wasn't enough to prevent the Mavericks from falling to 1-3 on the year. The 10-time All-Star continues to be a dominant interior force and remains one of the league's premier big men, with durability being the only recurring concern -- one that hasn't surfaced yet this season. He'll aim to stay hot Wednesday against a Pacers team that lacks a proven frontcourt.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Big double-double not enough Friday

Davis ended Friday's 117-107 loss to the Wizards with 27 points (9-19 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 9-12 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in 38 minutes. Despite the strong numbers in the box score, Davis' performance was erratic when it mattered. He missed a couple late free throws while the outcome was still in doubt and then coughed up the ball on a bad pass to Cooper Flagg, finishing with five turnovers in total. Davis has begun the 2025-26 season with back-to-back double-doubles, pulling down 13 boards each time, and staying healthy will be the veteran big man's biggest challenge.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Double-doubles with full line

Davis notched 27 points (9-19 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 9-12 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals, two blocks and five turnovers in 38 minutes during Friday's 117-107 loss to the Wizards. That's two straight double-doubles for Davis to open the year, but it's also been two consecutive losses for the Mavericks. There's no question about Davis' ability to stuff the stat sheet, but managers will hope the losses don't become a frequent thing this season, as that would heighten the chance of an early-season shutdown for the oft-injured big man. The Mavs will look to right the ship Sunday against the Raptors.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Inefficient double-double Wednesday

Davis had 22 points (7-22 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 125-92 loss to the Spurs. Davis finished with a full line, including a 22-and-13 double-double, despite shooting just 7-for-22 from the field. Outside of the poor shooting and, of course, the result, it was a good night for those who drafted the oft-injured superstar. Look for him to find his rhythm in what could be a favorable matchup against the Wizards on Friday.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Scores team-high 18 points

Davis finished with 18 points (7-15 FG, 4-7 FT, 0-3 3Pt), nine rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot across 32 minutes in Wednesday's 121-94 preseason win over the Lakers. Davis racked up a good number against his former team, and the big man's minutes ramped up to the kind of usage he'll see in the regular season. The increase is likely a conditioning move for the Mavericks, who need Davis to be at full strength right away when the regular season commences next week.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Set for bump in minutes

The Mavericks plan to increase Davis' minutes in Wednesday's preseason game against the Lakers, Kevin Gray Jr. of AllDLLS.com reports. Davis played 25 minutes in Monday's preseason win over the Jazz, so perhaps he'll log somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 minutes Wednesday. The superstar big man should be all systems go for the Oct. 22 regular-season opener against the Spurs.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Drops 25 points in preseason win

Davis amassed 25 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals across 25 minutes in Monday's 114-101 preseason win over the Jazz. Davis delivered a well-rounded performance while leading all players in scoring. The star big man also tied the game high in blocks and matched the team-best mark in steals. The 32-year-old appeared in just nine regular-season games after being traded to Dallas in the 2024-25 campaign due to a left adductor strain, during which he averaged 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 blocks across 29.4 minutes per game.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Sees 16 minutes of action

Davis compiled seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, two blocked shots and an assist in 16 minutes during Monday's 106-89 preseason win over Oklahoma State. The Mavericks have a wide array of options at center, so Davis should find himself fully entrenched at the four spot for most of the season. The veteran didn't have many opportunities to show his worth after joining the team last season, but he appears to be past the groin injury that kept him sidelined. He also underwent eye surgery and will be wearing protective eyewear for the foreseeable future.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Will wear protective eyewear

Davis (eye) will wear protective eyewear for the rest of his playing career, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports. Davis was given a mandate by his doctor following a procedure in July to repair a detached retina in his right eye. Although he's going along with the mandate, he's not thrilled with it. "It's for the rest of [my] career, which I'm not too excited about." After a challenging 2024-25 campaign, which was marred by injuries and a mid-season trade to the Mavericks involving Luka Doncic, Davis gets an opportunity to start fresh with a new look, while being the undisputed leader on a talented Dallas squad.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Cleared for training camp

Davis (eye) has been cleared for training camp, Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints reports. Head coach Jason Kidd told reporters Monday that everyone except Kyrie Irving (knee) has been cleared for training camp, which confirms that Davis is on track following his July 8 eye surgery. The big man logged 51 regular-season appearances last season between the Lakers and Mavericks, averaging 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals. A true two-way force, Davis' health will be one of the biggest factors in Dallas' push for success this season.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Returns to 5-on-5 work

Davis (eye) got back on the basketball floor for the first time since July for five-on-five work Saturday, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports. Davis underwent eye surgery to repair a detached retina on July 8. He was expected to return in time for training camp, and it appears he's on track to do just that following this latest report. After being traded to the Mavericks in the shocking Luka Doncic deal with the Lakers, Davis' time with Dallas for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign was marred by injuries, as he went down with an abductor injury in his first game with his new squad and then dealt with a knee injury late in the regular season. The one-time NBA champion will hope for a fresh start next month, with training camp set to get underway Sept. 30.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Undergoes eye surgery

Davis underwent a procedure Tuesday to repair a detached retina that he suffered during the 2024-25 regular season, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. After being traded to the Mavericks in the blockbuster deal that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers, Davis dealt with a few injuries, which limited him to just nine regular-season games and two postseason games with his new team. Along with the adductor injury he suffered in his first game with Dallas, the veteran big man also dealt with a knee injury late in the regular season and suffered a detached retina. However, Davis is expected to be ready for training camp following the procedure he underwent Tuesday. In the nine regular-season games he played with the Mavericks, the 31-year-old averaged 20 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 blocks per game, shooting 46.1 percent from the floor and 23.3 percent from three-point range.

  • Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Scoring explosion not enough

Davis closed with 40 points (16-29 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 6-8 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 37 minutes during Friday's 120-106 Play-In Game loss to Memphis. Davis' game-high 40 points tied for his most points in a contest this season. However, the star big man's dominant outing wasn't enough for the Mavericks to avoid being eliminated from playoff contention. After being traded from the Lakers, Davis averaged 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 blocks in 29.6 minutes across his nine regular-season appearances for the Mavericks, as he missed a significant period due to a left groin strain.
