  • Cardinals' Ixan Henderson: Set for left elbow surgery

Henderson is scheduled to undergo left elbow surgery Wednesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Henderson missed the first three months of the season with a flexor strain, only to go down with an elbow strain in his season debut in early August. It's unclear whether Wednesday's operation will be flexor tendon surgery or a different procedure, but it will end his 2026 campaign and could wipe out most, if not all, of his 2027 season.

  • Cardinals' Ixan Henderson: Managing elbow strain

Triple-A Memphis placed Henderson on the 60-day injured list Wednesday due to a left elbow strain, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. The left-hander was reinstated from the 60-day IL on Aug. 9 after missing the first three months of the season due to a flexor strain, but he's down with another arm injury after making just one start for Memphis. Henderson posted a 2.59 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 134:51 K:BB across 132 innings at Double-A Springfield last year, but he's had a lost 2026 season. The severity of his current injury is unclear as he continues to be evaluated.

  • Cardinals' Ixan Henderson: Back in action at Triple-A

Henderson (elbow) tossed 4.2 hitless innings Sunday in his 2026 debut at Triple-A Memphis after being reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Henderson was effectively wild, managing to hold Nashville off the scoreboard despite walking four and not recording a strikeout. The left-hander entered the Memphis rotation following four rehab starts, as he missed the first three months of the season with a flexor strain. Henderson doesn't have wipeout stuff but has been highly effective thus far in the minors, having posted a 2.59 ERA and 134:51 K:BB over 132 innings covering 25 starts with Double-A Springfield in 2025.

  • Cardinals' Ixan Henderson: Beginning rehab assignment

Henderson (elbow) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. Henderson has been sidelined all season after coming into spring training with a flexor strain. He's progressed enough in his rehab to test things out in games and should eventually join the rotation at Triple-A Memphis once he's deemed ready. Henderson has excelled in his two seasons in the minors, most recently holding a 2.59 ERA and 134:51 K:BB over 132 innings covering 25 starts with Double-A Springfield in 2025.

  • Cardinals' Ixan Henderson: Starting season on 60-day IL

Henderson (elbow) is starting the season on the 60-day injured list at Triple-A Memphis. Henderson reported to Cardinals camp in spring training with a flexor strain in his pitching arm and is now slated to miss at least the first two months of the minor-league season. It's unclear whether the left-hander has resumed throwing or remains shut down. Henderson had a breakout 2025 season at Double-A Springfield, holding a 2.59 ERA and 134:51 K:BB in 132 innings across 25 starts.
