  • Cardinals' Liam Doyle: Looks ready for promotion to Triple-A

Doyle has posted a 1.82 ERA and 51:22 K:BB over 39.2 innings covering his last eight starts with Double-A Springfield.

Doyle logged nine strikeouts -- including six in a row at one point -- over five innings of one-run ball in his last outing Wednesday. Walks have been an issue throughout the season for Doyle, but the control has been better over his last four starts as evidenced by a 10.0 percent walk rate. Doyle looks ready to be challenged at Triple-A Memphis, though it's unclear if there are plans to promote the first-round draft pick.

  • Cardinals' Liam Doyle: Rounding into form at Double-A

Doyle yielded two runs and fanned a career-high eight batters over five innings in a start with Double-A Springfield on Saturday.

The Cardinals have had Doyle expand his repertoire this season, per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. That's led to inconsistency, with Doyle permitting 14 runs (12 earned) over 11.2 innings covering his first four outings. However, the hard-throwing southpaw looks to have found his rhythm the last two times out, allowing a combined three runs with a 13:1 K:BB over 9 1/3 frames.

  • Cardinals' Liam Doyle: Promoted to Double-A

Doyle was promoted from Single-A Palm Beach to Double-A Springfield on Tuesday.

Doyle made his professional debut with Palm Beach this past weekend, allowing one run while striking out three over 1.2 frames. Palm Beach's season is now over, but the fifth overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft will continue pitching at the Double-A level as he gets his feet wet in pro ball.

  • Cardinals' Liam Doyle: Set for pro debut Saturday

Doyle will make his professional debut Saturday with Single-A Palm Beach, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The fifth overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, Doyle has been working out with the Cardinals' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate over the past month and will now throw around two innings Saturday in his first official game in the professional ranks. Palm Beach's season concludes Sunday, so it could be Doyle's lone appearance this season after he threw 95.2 innings for the University of Tennessee in the spring. Doyle could be assigned to High-A Peoria or Double-A Springfield at the start of next season.
