Pirates' Jared Triolo: Goes yard again
Triolo went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and a stolen base during Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rockies.
Triolo has homered in back-to-back games, a streak that immediately followed a homer drought that lasted over two months and spanned 85 at-bats. Sunday's long ball was Triolo's fifth of the season, and his stolen base put his season total at nine. Triolo has a hit in each of his last five games, going 8-for-17 (.471) with four extra-base hits during that stretch.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Homers, triples in win
Triolo went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a triple and an additional run scored in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Rockies.
Triolo launched a two-run homer in the third inning before adding a triple and scoring again in the fifth. While it was the 27-year-old's first long ball since June 19, he's hitting .303 with six extra-base hits, five RBI, 11 runs scored and three stolen bases through 20 games in August. For the season, he's still slashing a modest .205/.229/.322 with four homers, 15 RBI, 23 runs scored and eight steals across 237 plate appearances.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Swipes base in win
Triolo went 0-for-1 with three walks, a steal and one run scored in Monday's 5-2 victory over the Blue Jays.
Triolo pilfered his eighth base of the season when he stole second off Blue Jays reliever Yariel Rodriguez in the sixth. The Pittsburgh infielder has become a staple of the starting lineup since Ke'Bryan Hayes was shipped out at the trade deadline, as he garnered his eighth consecutive start at shortstop. Triolo has made the most of his opportunity, hitting .274 (14-for-51) with three steals, nine runs scored, three RBI and 9:12 BB:K across 16 games this month.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Knocks in two runs
Triolo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Reds.
Triolo has started six of eight games since Ke'Bryan Hayes was traded, with his primary on-field value coming from his glove. However, he managed a two-RBI single in the first inning Thursday to make a rare offensive contribution. Triolo has gone 6-for-20 with three RBI and five runs scored across his six starts since inheriting the starting role, with the last three starts coming at shortstop while Isiah Kiner-Falefa has shifted to third base.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Absent from Monday's lineup
Triolo is not in the Pirates' starting lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.
Triolo started in each of the Pirates' last three games after being promoted from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday and went 2-for-10 with four runs scored and one RBI. He'll be on the bench for Monday's series opener while Isiah Kiner-Falefa starts at the hot corner and Liover Peguero covers shortstop.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Making third straight start
Triolo will start at third base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Since the Pirates traded Ke'Bryan Hayes to the Reds on Wednesday, Triolo appears to have temporarily settled in as the preferred option at third base. He'll pick up a third straight start after going 1-for-7 with two walks, two runs and one RBI through the first two games of the series in Colorado.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Officially promoted
The Pirates recalled Triolo from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
Triolo is expected to take over as the primary third baseman in Pittsburgh now that Ke'Bryan Hayes is on the Reds. Triolo has slashed just .158/.253/.266 with 10 RBI and 12 runs scored through 160 plate appearances this season, but his glove should be enough to keep him in the lineup most days.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Set to be recalled
The Pirates will recall Triolo from Triple-A Indianapolis, and he is expected to serve as their primary third baseman following the trade of Ke'Bryan Hayes on Wednesday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The Pirates have an afternoon game in San Francisco on Wednesday and are idle Thursday, so the promotion of Triolo likely won't be official until Friday before a weekend series in Colorado. Triolo has slashed a paltry .158/.253/.266 in 55 contests at the big-league level this season but will offer the Pirates a steady glove at the hot corner.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Sent down to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Triolo to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
Triolo had been mired in a 2-for-33 (.061) slump at the plate since June 10, and the Pirates will send him to Indianapolis to potentially rediscover his swing. The move opens up a spot on the active roster for reliever Yohan Ramirez.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Back on bench Monday
Triolo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Triolo was included in the lineup in three of the Pirates' previous four games, but the bulk of his starts are still expected to come against left-handed pitching when Pittsburgh has all of its core infielders available. Most of the 27-year-old's value to the Pirates derives from his ability to play all four infield spots, as he's been an easy out at the plate with a .167/.260/.280 slash line over 152 plate appearances on the season.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Perfect day at plate
Triolo went 2-for-2 with two runs scored during Thursday's 8-2 loss to the Astros.
Triolo accounted for both Pirates runs and two of their five hits before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth. The 27-year-old has recorded multiple hits in his last two games, but he's still in a platoon role and doesn't face a right-handed pitcher all too often. Triolo is slashing .170/.248/.287 in 107 plate appearances this season.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Back in platoon role
Triolo will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Reds.
Though he'll be included in the lineup Monday with southpaw Nick Lodolo taking the hill for Cincinnati, the right-handed-hitting Triolo no longer looks to be in the mix for regular playing time versus righties. He was on the bench for both of the Pirates' previous two matchups with right-handers, with the recent return of Isiah Kiner-Falefa having closed off Triolo's path to an everyday role in the Pittsburgh infield.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Hits in four straight
Triolo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday against the Mets.
Triolo recorded his first home run of the season Thursday and has at least one hit in five of his last six games. He's scored four runs in that span and has surprisingly tallied four total extra-base hits. Despite the slight uptick in production, Triolo is hitting just .167/.233/.308 across 87 plate appearances.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Smacks first homer of 2025
Triolo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 win over Atlanta.
Triolo, who entered Friday's game 2-for-25 over his last 11 games, extended the Pirates' lead to two runs in the sixth inning when he took Bryce Elder deep to left field for a solo shot. Triolo has been struggling at the plate as of late, but he should continue to see plenty of starts at shortstop due to Isiah Kiner-Falefa (hamstring) being on the 10-day injured list.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Getting afternoon off
Triolo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
After making starts at either middle-infield spot in each of the last eight games, Triolo will take a seat for the series finale in St. Louis. Triolo could continue to serve as the Pirates' primary shortstop until Isiah Kiner-Falefa (hamstring) is cleared to return from the injured list, but Liover Peguero gets the nod Wednesday.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Seizing everyday role
Triolo will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Padres.
Triolo initially served as a utility infielder upon returning from the injured list April 16, but he's been thrust into an everyday role in the middle infield. He'll pick up his sixth consecutive start and his fourth in a row at shortstop, which should be his primary home until Isiah Kiner-Falefa (hamstring) is ready to return from the IL.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Back from injured list
The Pirates activated Triolo (back) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Triolo spent the minimum amount of time on the shelf with a lumbar spine strain and was cleared to rejoin the Pirates after going 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk in a rehab game with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. With Nick Gonzales (ankle), Spencer Horwitz (wrist) and Endy Rodriguez (finger) still on the IL, Triolo should see plenty of playing time for the Pirates between first and second base. He'll occupy the keystone and will bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Ready for rehab assignment
Triolo (back) will report to Triple-A Indianapolis to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
The 27-year-old infielder, who is recovering from a lumbar spine strain, has been cleared for game action in the minors after he was able to field grounders Monday without issue. Triolo is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, and while he appears unlikely to be activated on that day, he likely won't require much time beyond that before rejoining the Pirates.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Lands on IL with back injury
The Pirates placed Triolo on the 10-day injured list Monday with a lumbar spine strain, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
The team had viewed Triolo as day-to-day, but the injury is apparently now considered significant enough to keep him out at least until mid-April. Triolo has started half of the Pirates' 10 games so far, bouncing around between second base, first base and third base. Tsung-Che Cheng was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to replace Triolo on the active roster.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Removed due to back issue
The Pirates announced that Triolo was scratched from the lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Yankees due to low back discomfort.
The Pirates are viewing Triolo as day-to-day, but he could be a candidate to land on the injured list if he fails to make much meaningful progress by the middle of the week. Isiah Kiner-Falefa had been scheduled to receive a day off Sunday but was thrust into the lineup at shortstop as a result of Triolo's late scratch.
