  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Set for season-ending surgery

Priester will undergo thoracic outlet compression surgery on Monday and is expected to be sidelined 8-to-10 months, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Priester has dealt with thoracic outlet symptoms since last season, and he attempted unsuccessfully to treat it with rest and rehab. After consulting with Dr. Gregory Pearl on Tuesday, the decision was made to have surgery. Priester expects to be ready to go for the beginning of next season, but the track record of pitchers coming back from this type of procedure isn't great.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Follow-up visit with doctor

Priester (shoulder) will have a follow-up visit Tuesday with thoracic surgeon Dr. Gregory Pearl, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Priester had to be pulled off his rehab assignment last week, as he has struggled to get into any kind of groove as he works his way back from thoracic outlet symptoms. A plan for Priester's next steps will be mapped out following Tuesday's visit. It's unclear at this point whether surgery is a possibility.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Returned from rehab assignment

The Brewers returned Priester (shoulder) from his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Priester has struggled to gain any sort of momentum during his rehab outings, posting a 21.60 ERA in 10 innings across six appearances between Triple-A Nashville and High-A Wisconsin, and more recently allowing four earned runs on three hits and seven walks across six innings between two starts in rookie ball. The Brewers haven't outlined what Priester's next steps will be now that his rehab assignment has been paused, but he doesn't appear to be anywhere near a return to Milwaukee's rotation.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Moves to 60-day IL

The Brewers transferred Priester (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

Priester has been on the shelf all season while recovering from symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome, so his move to the 60-day IL was merely procedural. The right-hander remains in the midst of a rehab assignment, but he's shown little sign of regaining the form that made him a vital part of the Milwaukee rotation in 2025. After struggling to a 21.60 ERA and 3.60 WHIP over 10 innings in six rehab starts between High-A Wisconsin and Triple-A Nashville from April 22 through May 27, Priester recently had his assignment transferred to the Arizona Complex League. He was once again lacking in command in his second appearance in the ACL on Monday, spotting just 35 of his 73 pitches for strikes over 2.2 innings while generating four punchouts and yielding three earned runs on one hit and five walks. He also hit a batter and threw three wild pitches.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Rehab transferred to complex league

Priester's (shoulder) rehab assignment has been transferred from Triple-A Nashville to the Brewers' Arizona Complex League team, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Working his way back from thoracic outlet syndrome, Priester struggled again in his last rehab outing with Nashville, as he was charged with three runs while recording only two outs. In six rehab starts between Nashville and High-A Wisconsin, Priester holds a 21.60 ERA, 3.60 WHIP and 10:17 K:BB in 10 innings. By sending him to the ACL, the Brewers will have more control over Priester's workload in a less stressful setting. McCalvy writes that doctors "continue to believe, for now," that Priester doesn't need season-ending surgery, but that stance might have to be re-evaluated if the righty doesn't show improvement.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Labors through another rehab start

Priester (shoulder) recorded two outs and was charged with three earned runs on two hits and three walks Wednesday in his rehab start with Triple-A Nashville. He struck out one batter.

Per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Milwaukee was aiming for Priester to cover five innings and around 80-to-85 pitches Wednesday in his third start since resuming his rehab assignment, but the right-hander fell well short of both benchmarks. He needed 38 pitches just to record his two outs, with Priester's erratic control prompting his removal from the game before the first inning concluded. Priester hasn't looked sharp at any point over the course of his two separate rehab assignments spanning six starts, accruing a 21.60 ERA, 3.60 WHIP and 10:17 K:BB in 10 innings over one outing with High-A Wisconsin and five with Nashville. In addition to lacking control, Priester has struggled to regain velocity as he works his way back from right neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome. Priester averaged 93.9 mph with his sinker during the 2025 season, but he reached a max velocity of just 93.3 mph during Wednesday's start.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Shaky in rehab start

Priester (shoulder) was charged with five earned runs on five hits and three walks over three innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

Priester resumed a rehab assignment last weekend at High-A Wisconsin, yielding seven runs in 1.1 frames. The results were a bit better Thursday, but it's all relative, as Priester continues to look like a pitcher who's not close to being ready to face major-league hitters. Priester averaged 92.2 miles per hour with his sinker -- down 1.7 mph from last season -- and he induced only four whiffs and two strikeouts. The righty should make another rehab start next week and will hope to take a step forward then.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Moving rehab to Triple-A Nashville

Priester (shoulder) departed High-A Wisconsin on Tuesday to join Triple-A Nashville for his next rehab start Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Priester's last rehab start was May 16 when he allowed seven earned runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings. The right-hander has struggled through his four total rehab outings between Wisconsin and Nashville with a 22.74 ERA and 3.63 WHIP across 6.1 innings. The first three appearances came with Nashville as he nursed a nerve issue in his right wrist, but then he started to deal with shoulder soreness.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Cleared to resume rehab assignment

Priester (shoulder) will resume a rehab assignment this weekend, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Priester went on the injured list before the season due to thoracic outlet syndrome and had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment earlier this month because of right shoulder soreness. He showed diminished velocity and posted a 16.20 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and 5:8 K:BB across five innings in his first three rehab starts, so Priester has a lot to prove before convincing the Brewers he's ready to reclaim a spot in the rotation.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Dealing with shoulder soreness

Priester (wrist) is with the Brewers in St. Louis after being pulled from his rehab assignment due to shoulder soreness, Sophia Minnaert of Brewers.tv reports.

Priester struggled in his last rehab outing with Triple-A Nashville on Friday, when he tossed 62 pitches (37 strikes) and allowed five runs on seven hits (including one homer) and two walks while striking out one batter in just two innings. Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters Monday that Priester's recent setback isn't considered a long-term concern, but the 25-year-old right-hander will be reevaluated by medical staff and work with pitching coaches over the coming days to determine a more clear timeline to return.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Pulled off rehab assignment

Priester (wrist) remains on the 15-day injured list after the Brewers pulled him off of his rehab assignment Monday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Priester isn't believed to be dealing with any sort of setback, but the Brewers will pause his minor-league assignment after the right-hander struggled mightily during his three starts at Triple-A Nashville. He failed to record more than seven outs in any of those outings, submitting a collective 16.20 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and 5:8 K:BB across five innings. The Brewers haven't indicated that Priester will be shut down from activity, but he'll likely need to show improvement with both his velocity and command during his throwing sessions before Milwaukee restarts his rehab clock. Brandon Sproat and Logan Henderson should have longer leashes in the Milwaukee rotation while both Priester and Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) are on the IL.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Making next rehab start Friday

Priester (wrist) is scheduled to throw about four innings and 60 pitches in the next start of his rehab assignment Friday, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

The right-hander made the second start of his rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A Nashville, throwing 45 pitches across 2.1 frames. Priester has struggled with his command in both rehab outings, issuing three walks in each start while hitting the strike zone with just 30 of 74 total pitches. His sinker also topped out at 92 mph Sunday after averaging 93.2 mph during the 2025 regular season. Priester was expected to require at least three starts in the minors before being activated from the 15-day injured list, but the control and velocity concerns will likely result in a longer rehab stint.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Lacks control in second rehab start

Priester (wrist) struck out two and allowed zero hits and issued three walks across 2.1 innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Nashville.

Though he emerged from his second minor-league outing with a solid box-score line, Priester once again struggled to find the strike zone. After spotting just 12 of 29 pitches for strikes in his first outing with Nashville on Wednesday, Priester was even more inefficient Sunday (18 strikes on 45 pitches). The right-hander's velocity was also down in Sunday's appearance, with his sinker topping out at 92 miles per hour after averaging 93.2 mph with the Brewers in the 2025 regular season. Though Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy previously said that the 25-year-old would need at least three starts in the minors before coming off the 15-day injured list, Priester's shaky control through his first two rehab outings suggests he'll likely need more time than that to shake off the rust as he works his way back from thoracic outlet syndrome.

  • Brewers' Quinn Priester: Struggles in first rehab start

Priester (wrist) yielded four runs on three walks while recording just two outs in his first rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

After walking the first hitter of the game, Priester bounced back with consecutive strikeouts. Unfortunately, he then hit the next batter with a pitch before issuing two straight walks, the second of which forced in a run and spelled the end of his night. Three more runs were charged to his line after reliever Peter Strzelecki served up a grand slam. Even more disturbing than Priester's line was his velocity, as he averaged only 91.2 mph with his sinker (down from last year's 93.9 mph) and 88.9 mph with his cutter (down from last year's 92.3 mph). It was Priester's first game action since last October, so it's possible his velocity will rise as he gets ramped up. However, given that he's coming back from thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms, there's a chance the velocity will remain down. Priester will need multiple additional rehab starts before the Brewers consider reinserting him into their rotation.
