    Langeliers went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-2 extra-inning win over the Twins. Langeliers smashed a go-ahead shot, his 28th homer of the year, in the 10th inning to give the Athletics the lead. Since returning from the injured list June 30, the slugging backstop has been on an absolute tear in the power department. Langeliers has now homered in three consecutive outings, and he's batting .309 with 18 big flies, 11 doubles and 33 RBI over his last 40 contests.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Reaches 25-homer mark

    Langeliers went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a second RBI and two total runs scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Angels. Langeliers led off the bottom of the first inning with a homer, and he added an RBI single in the eighth to help the Athletics secure their lead. His power has spiked in August with seven homers over his last 13 games, a span in which he's also batting .386 (22-for-57). The catcher has gone deep 25 times this season, putting him on pace to reach the 30-homer mark for the first time in his career. Langeliers posted a historic night at the plate in his first career start in the leadoff spot. He started things off with a leadoff home run before homering again in the fifth and seventh innings. Langeliers became the fifth catcher in MLB history to hit 20-plus homers in three of his first four seasons. Langeliers did his damage early, with the homer coming as part of the Athletics' four-run first inning. He's lifted five long balls over his last seven games, going 12-for-29 (.414) with seven RBI in that span. The hot stretch has the catcher up to a .258/.312/.507 slash line on the year. His .819 OPS is impressive, especially since it was at .709 entering the All-Star break. Langeliers has added 19 homers, 45 RBI, 41 runs scored, five stolen bases and 17 doubles through 80 contests this season.

Langeliers, playing in his first game since June 5 after an oblique injury, homered in his first at-bat back with two men on to give the Athletics an early 3-0 lead before they even took the field. As one of five players with 10 or more home runs on the team, his bat is a welcome addition back to the lineup. Another encouraging sign is that the 27-year-old put the ball in play every at-bat. Strikeouts have been an issue for the backstop, who's struck out at least once in 12 of his last 14 games, dating back to before his injury.

He's slashing .226/.295/.443 with 17 RBI, 15 runs scored, four doubles and a stolen base over 129 plate appearances. Those numbers are largely in line with what he did over 137 games in 2024, though his walk rate (9.3 percent) is up and his strikeout rate (14.7 percent) is significantly lower than last year.
