Nationals' CJ Abrams: Goes yard Sunday
Abrams went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 8-0 win over San Francisco.
Abrams lifted his 15th homer of the campaign, swatting a two-run shot off Justin Verlander in the second frame. The outing snapped a minor drought at the plate, as Abrams entered the contest with just three hits in his last 30 at-bats. The shortstop is slashing .268/.333/.457 in 458 plate appearances this season.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Monster game in win
Abrams went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, three stolen bases and two additional runs scored during Sunday's 7-2 win over Minnesota.
Abrams delivered a leadoff homer off Cole Sands in the first inning and followed it up by swiping a trio of bases throughout the remainder of the contest. It was his first three-steal game of the season and the sixth of his career. Since the All-Star break, Abrams is 6-for-37 with nine Ks, but he's hit two homers and three doubles during that stretch. He's up to 14 homers and 23 stolen bases on the year.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Homers in Friday's loss
Abrams went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's loss to the Padres.
The shortstop accounted for all of the Nationals' offense when he took Jason Adam deep in the eighth inning to tie the game at 2-2, before Kyle Finnegan fell apart in the top of the ninth. Abrams sat out the final game before the All-Star break due to a sore shoulder, but he appeared fully healthy as he launched his 13th homer of the season, and his first in July. Despite the power drought, Abrams is slashing .289/.327/.444 on the month with three steals, four RBI and nine runs in 13 contests.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Back in action Friday
Abrams (shoulder) is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Friday against the Padres, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.
The 24-year-old was scratched from the lineup for the final game of the first half last Sunday due to shoulder soreness, but he's good to go coming out of the All-Star break. Through 82 games this season, Abrams is on pace for a career campaign with 12 homers, 20 steals and a .287/.353/.483 slash line.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Late scratch Sunday
Abrams was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game at Milwaukee for unspecified reasons, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Reaches 20-steal mark
Abrams went 1-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers.
Abrams reached the 20-steal mark for the third year in a row with his theft in the third inning. He's been more efficient on the basepaths this year, getting caught just twice so far after going 31-for-43 on steals attempts in 2024. The shortstop continues to enjoy a breakout campaign atop the Nationals' lineup, with a .287/.353/.483 slash line, 12 home runs, 33 RBI, 61 runs scored, 20 doubles and four triples across 82 contests. He's hit safely in 10 of 11 games in July, batting .293 (12-for-41) this month.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Managing shoulder issue
The Nationals announced that Abrams was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers due to right shoulder soreness, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Abrams apparently suffered the injury while going through pregame work, resulting in him being pulled from the starting nine for the final contest before the All-Star break. The 24-year-old will have four full days to recover before Friday's second-half opener versus the Padres.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Receiving rare day off
Abrams is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
With the Nationals and Red Sox wrapping up their series with a day game and Garrett Crochet on the bump for Boston, Washington skipper Dave Martinez viewed Sunday as an optimal time to give Abrams a day off. Paul DeJong will fill in at shortstop while Abrams exits the starting nine for the first time since June 8.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Swipes another bag Friday

The shortstop continues to surge toward a breakout campaign. Abrams has hit safely in seven straight games and 13 of his last 14, a stretch in which he's slashing .339/.397/.565 with three long balls, four steals, eight RBI and 14 runs as the Nationals' leadoff hitter. He needs one more stolen base to become the eighth player in the majors with 10-plus homers and 20-plus steals on the season.
