  • Angels' Shaun Anderson: Back with Angels

Anderson signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Friday. Anderson elected to test free agency after clearing waivers Thursday, but he'll quickly reunite with the Angels after just a day on the open market. The 30-year-old righty owns an unsightly 10.32 ERA and 2.03 WHIP through 11.1 innings in the majors and isn't likely to make an impact with the big club if he makes it back to Anaheim before the season ends.

  • Shaun Anderson: Opts for free agency

Anderson cleared waivers Thursday and elected free agency. Anderson lost his spot in the Angels' bullpen after giving up four earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning Monday against the Dodgers, inflating his ERA to 10.32 through 11.1 frames. Now a free agent, the 30-year-old right-hander will most likely have to settle for a minor-league deal to secure another job.

  • Angels' Shaun Anderson: Cut loose from 40-man

The Angels designated Anderson for assignment Tuesday. Anderson surrendered four earned runs on four hits and recorded just two outs in his appearance Monday versus the Dodgers. • Angels' Shaun Anderson: Called up by Halos

The Angels selected Anderson's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. Anderson was DFA'd by the Angels in mid-June but opted to stick around on a minor-league deal, and he has posted a 3.60 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 13:0 K:BB in 20 innings over his last three starts in with Salt Lake. Jack Kochanowicz -- who started against the Tigers on Sunday -- was optioned to Triple-A, and while Anderson has started in minor-league games this season, he'll likely operate out of the bullpen as a multi-inning reliever, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register.

Anderson elected free agency Saturday after begin DFA'd by the Angels, but he'll ultimately return to the team after testing the open market. • Shaun Anderson: Opts for free agency

Anderson cleared waivers Saturday and elected free agency. The Angels dumped Anderson off their 40-man roster Friday after he turned in a 7.59 ERA and 1.78 WHIP over 10.2 innings with the big-league club. The 30-year-old righty will now look to free agency for his next opportunity, but with a career 6.20 ERA, he'll almost certainly have to settle for a minor-league deal.

Anderson re-signed Wednesday with the Angels on a minor-league contract. After the Angels designated him for assignment last weekend, Anderson elected free agency upon clearing waivers. Over his five appearances out of the Angels bullpen, Anderson turned in a 6.30 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB in 10 innings.

  • Marlins' Shaun Anderson: Optioned to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Anderson to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. Anderson was called upon to start in place of Jesus Luzardo (back) on Saturday, giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits over just 3.1 innings in a loss to the Mariners. • Marlins' Shaun Anderson: Called up ahead of Saturday's start

The Marlins recalled Anderson from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of his start Saturday against the Mariners. He'll be joining the rotation as a replacement for Jesus Luzardo (back), who was initially slated to start Saturday before being scratched and placed on the 15-day injured list. Luzardo is set to miss at least two turns through the rotation, but Anderson may need to pitch effectively Saturday to earn himself any starts beyond that. Since being acquired from the Rangers on May 30, the 29-year-old righty has previously made one spot start for Miami, giving up seven runs (four earned) on nine hits in two innings in a June 14 loss to the Nationals.

The 29-year-old righty has a 2.51 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB through 28.2 Triple-A innings over six starts this season, but he hasn't worked more than four innings in an outing at any level since joining the Marlins' organization at the end of May. He'll fill the rotation spot of Jesus Luzardo (back).
