Rays' Everson Pereira: Moved to IL
The Rays placed Pereira on the 10-day injured list Friday due to low back inflammation.
Manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Pereira wouldn't return in 2025, and Friday's move makes that official. The 24-year-old appeared in 23 games with the Rays this season, slashing .138/.219/.246 with a pair of home runs, two stolen bases and a 38.4 percent K rate. Jonathan Aranda (wrist) returned from the IL in a corresponding move.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Back injury ends season
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Pereira (back) is unlikely to return this season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Pereira was forced to exit Thursday's game in Baltimore in the fourth inning with low-back tightness. While it does not seem to be a long-term injury, it will nonetheless prematurely end the outfielder's season. Pereira slashed .138/.219/.246 with two home runs in 23 games for the Rays in 2025.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Exits with low-back tightness
Pereira was removed from Thursday's game against the Orioles in the fourth inning with low-back tightness, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Pereira grounded out in the top of the fourth inning in his second plate appearance before being lifted for defense in the bottom of the frame. It's likely a day-to-day injury, but the Rays could provide more clarity soon regarding Pereira's availability for the weekend.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Smacks grand slam
Pereira went 1-for-5 with a grand slam Friday against the Red Sox.
The Rays rolled out a unique lineup with lefty Garrett Crochet on the mound, with Pereira hitting leadoff for the first time this season. He struck out in three of his first four plate appearances, but he smacked the first grand slam and second homer of his career in the ninth inning. Pereira is being used sparingly, starting only six games in September.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Belts first career homer
Pereira went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 4-1 win over the Nationals.
The 24-year-old outfielder took Mitchell Parker deep in the fifth inning, giving Pereira his first career big-league homer in his 39th game. He's been seeing consistent playing time since being called up Aug. 11, but over 41 plate appearances for the Rays he's batting just .139 (5-for-36) with a 41.5 percent strikeout rate.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Sitting after three straight starts
Pereira is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
After going 1-for-9 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored while starting each of the last three games in center field, Pereira will be the odd man out of the Tampa Bay outfield while Josh Lowe (oblique) makes his return to action. While Pereira likely won't be in line for regular playing time against righties with the outfield unit now closer to full strength, he could spell Lowe, Jake Mangum or Chandler Simpson in the outfield when the Rays oppose lefties.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Three straight starts
Pereira went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base Tuesday against the Yankees.
Pereira was recalled by the Rays Aug. 11 and made his third consecutive start Tuesday with Josh Lowe (oblique) sidelined. He has only three hits across 19 at-bats since his promotion, but he could be a decent source of steals if he continues to find playing time.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Summoned to big leagues
The Rays recalled Pereira from Triple-A Durham on Monday.
Acquired from the Yankees at the deadline in a trade that sent Jose Caballero to New York, Pereira has slashed .256/.359/.508 with 21 home runs, nine stolen bases and a 29.2 percent strikeout rate at the Triple-A level in 2025. The right-handed hitter should at least see starts against left-handed pitching, and he could earn reps versus righties, too.

Rays' Everson Pereira: Traded to Rays
Pereira was traded from the Yankees to the Rays on Thursday in exchange for Jose Caballero, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
Given that there seemed to be no path for Pereira to get another shot in New York, this is a good development for his dynasty value. He is still just 24 and is slashing .254/.357/.507 with 19 home runs, nine steals and a 28.7 percent strikeout rate in 70 games at Triple-A.

Yankees' Everson Pereira: Optioned to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Pereira to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.
Pereira has a 1.090 OPS this spring but has been limited to designated hitter duty following last June's elbow surgery. He should be ready to play the field soon and will receive everyday reps at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as he waits for an opportunity with the big club.

Yankees' Everson Pereira: Slugs second spring homer
Pereira went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's Grapefruit League win over the Blue Jays.
Pereira entered the game as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and tied the score with a solo shot to left-center field. He stayed in the contest for an additional at-bat but didn't play the field, taking over the designated hitter spot. Pereira has been limited to pinch-hitting and DH duties this spring while he continues to recover from the elbow surgery he underwent last June, but he's expected to return to the outfield before the end of the exhibition slate and still has a chance of making the Opening Day roster in a reserve role.

Yankees' Everson Pereira: Limited to DH duty, for now
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Pereira (elbow) will be limited to designated hitter duty until mid-March, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
The Yankees consider Pereira to be fully healthy following internal brace surgery on his right elbow last June, but he won't be cleared to play the outfield in spring training games for a few weeks. Boone said that Pereira is "very much in the mix" for an Opening Day roster spot.

Yankees' Everson Pereira: Healthy going into spring training
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday in an interview on WFAN Sports Radio that Pereira (elbow) is healthy and will compete for a roster spot in spring training.
Pereira underwent an internal brace surgery on his right elbow in June, but it sounds like he's fully recovered and won't have any restrictions in spring training. While the Yankees could carry Pereira on the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder, the club might prefer that he plays every day at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Yankees' Everson Pereira: Needs internal brace surgery
Pereira is set to undergo a season-ending internal brace surgery on his right elbow in the coming days, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.
Pereira had already been placed on Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's full-season minor-league injured list, so it comes as little surprise that he'll be in line for major surgery. The rehab from an internal brace procedure is shorter than a full Tommy John surgery, especially for position players, but Pereira still seems likely to get a late start to next season. The 23-year-old slashed .265/.346/.512 with 10 home runs and five stolen bases over 40 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2024.

Yankees' Everson Pereira: Done for 2024
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre transferred Pereira from its 7-day injured list to its full-season injured list Tuesday while he tends to an undisclosed injury.
Pereira made his big-league debut in 2023 but failed to break camp with the Yankees. He had maintained a .265/.346/.512 slash line (118 wRC+) across 182 plate appearances with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before he was moved to the 7-day IL on May 30.

Yankees' Everson Pereira: Optioned to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Pereira to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
Pereira struck out in all three of his plate appearances during Sunday's Grapefruit League matchup with the Red Sox, capping off a poor camp that saw him go 5-for-30 with 14 strikeouts. The 22-year-old had a .937 OPS at Triple-A last season and could receive another look with the Yankees if they deal with any outfield injuries.
