Benschoter cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Louisville. Benschoter joined the Reds' active roster twice in 2025 but has yet to make his debut in the major leagues. He appeared in 38 games at Louisville, however, turning in a 4.12 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with a 68:22 K:BB over 78.2 innings. He's likely to report back to Triple-A to begin the 2026 campaign.

  • Reds' Sam Benschoter: Optioned to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Benschoter to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday. Benschoter will head back down to the minors after the Reds activated Hunter Greene (groin) from the 15-day IL on Wednesday. Benschoter has yet to make his MLB debut, as he didn't appear in a game during either of his two short stints on the 26-man roster this season. He owns a 3.78 ERA and 7.7 K/9 across 104 innings at Triple-A.

  • Reds' Sam Benschoter: Brought up to bigs

The Reds recalled Benschoter from Triple-A Louisville on Friday. Benschoter was called up in early July for his first big-league stint, but he didn't get a chance to make his MLB debut before heading back down. The 27-year-old will get another crack at taking the mound for Cincinnati, replacing Yosver Zulueta in the bullpen. Benschoter has posted a 3.78 ERA in 66.2 innings with Louisville this year.
