Royals' Jonathan India: Lifts three-run homer
India went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Athletics.
India's fourth-inning blast off Mason Barnett opened the scoring, but it was all the Royals could produce. India had gone over a month without a homer, batting just .203 (13-for-64) over 21 contests between long balls while missing time due to a wrist injury in that span. He's now at a .234/.324/.347 slash line with nine homers, 45 RBI, 63 runs scored, 29 doubles and no stolen bases over 135 contests. India held a starting role for much of the season but has slipped into a timeshare with Michael Massey and Adam Frazier in September.

Royals' Jonathan India: Losing work to Massey
India isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.
Saturday marks the fourth consecutive game that will begin with Michael Massey at the keystone and India on the bench. India has still appeared in two of the Royals' last three contests, though it seems his time as the regular second baseman in Kansas City has come to an end.

Royals' Jonathan India: Making return from IL
The Royals reinstated India (wrist) from the 10-day injured list, and he's batting seventh as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Guardians.
India hasn't seen the field since late August due to a wrist sprain, but he's back with the Royals for the second game of the series in Cleveland. It's been a disappointing campaign for the 29-year-old with a career-worst .666 OPS through 124 games, and he batted just .195 across 24 contests in August.

Royals' Jonathan India: Hits IL with wrist sprain
The Royals placed India on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a left wrist sprain.
India had been held out of the lineup in both of the Royals' previous two games, but the nature of his absence wasn't known until the team revealed Monday that he was dealing with an injury. The severity of the wrist sprain isn't known, making it difficult to speculate how quickly India might be able to return from the IL. While India is on the shelf, Michael Massey and Adam Frazier should be in line to see the bulk of the starts at second base.

Royals' Jonathan India: Homers from No. 7 lineup spot
India went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run an and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-3 win over Boston.
India dropped down to the No. 7 spot in Kansas City's lineup to make way for the lefty-hitting Mike Yastrzemski in the leadoff spot, and the former responded by going deep for the sixth time this year. It's unclear if the move will stick against right-handed pitching going forward -- the Royals faced righty Dustin May on Wednesday -- but it's initially not the most encouraging sign for India's rest-of-season fantasy outlook. Since the start of June, India is also slashing a pedestrian .237/.318/.382 with five homers, 15 doubles, 22 RBI and zero stolen bases covering 234 plate appearances.

Royals' Jonathan India: Cleared to start Sunday

India suffered a left wrist/forearm contusion when he was struck by a pitch in the third inning of Saturday's 4-2 loss, but he apparently made enough progress overnight to rejoin the lineup for the series finale. With India occupying the DH spot, the Royals will have Adam Frazier pick up a start at the keystone.

Royals' Jonathan India: Removed after HBP
India was removed from Saturday's game against the Blue Jays after getting hit on the left elbow by a pitch, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
India was able to run for himself and play defense after taking a 95-mile-per-hour fastball off his elbow in the third inning, but he was lifted for a pinch hitter when it was his turn to hit again in the fifth. The Royals will take a closer look at him to determine the severity of the injury, but the fact that he initially remained in the game suggests the damage isn't severe.
