  • Angels' Christian Moore: Losing work to Rengifo

Moore isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. Now set to sit on the bench for the fourth time in the Angels' last five games, it seems Moore has fallen out of favor for the starting gig at second base in Anaheim. Luis Rengifo will get another nod at the keystone Wednesday while batting seventh for the Halos.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Sitting down Tuesday

Moore isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com reports. Moore will sit down for the third time in four games Tuesday after going 3-for-20 with three runs scored since his return from the injured list. Luis Rengifo will pick up another start at second base and bat seventh.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Out of Monday's lineup

Moore is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Dodgers. Moore is just 3-for-20 at the plate since returning from a thumb injury, and this will be the second time over the last three contests that he's began the game on the bench. Luis Rengifo will handle second base and bat seventh for the Angels.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Getting rest day

Moore is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Tigers on Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Moore was reinstated from the 10-day injured list this past Sunday and will get a breather after playing in the Angels' last five games, going 3-for-16 (.188) with three runs and four walks over that span. Luis Rengifo will start at the keystone and bat seventh.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Returns from IL

The Angels reinstated Moore (thumb) from the 10-day injured list, and he will start at second base and bat eighth Sunday versus the White Sox. Moore has been sidelined for the past month due to a thumb sprain but will rejoin the 26-man active roster after going 5-for-11 with two doubles and a home run during a four-game rehab assignment at Single-A Inland Empire. In his first 18 MLB games prior to the injury, the 22-year-old had yet to get on track for the Halos with a .189/.302/.396 slash line and 31.2 percent strikeout rate, though he has showcased his power potential with three long balls.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Progressing in recovery

Moore (thumb) has started baseball activities, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Moore was called up by the Angels from Triple-A Salt Lake in mid-June and played in 18 games for the big club before landing on the IL in early July due to a left thumb sprain. His return to baseball activities is an encouraging sign, and the 23-year-old will look to progress enough in his recovery to swing a bat.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Placed on IL with sprained thumb

The Angels placed Moore on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a left thumb sprain. Moore suffered the injury during Wednesday's contest in Atlanta while making a diving play on a grounder in the sixth inning. The rookie infielder will be eligible for activation the weekend before the All-Star break, but thumb sprains can often take multiple weeks to heal. Kevin Newman figures to be the immediate beneficiary of Moore's absence, but the Angels could get Yoan Moncada (knee) back soon, which would allow Luis Rengifo to shift to second base to cover for Moore.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Battling thumb issue

Moore was pulled from Wednesday's game versus Atlanta due to left thumb irritation. Moore injured his thumb while making a diving play on a grounder in the sixth inning. The severity of the 23-year-old's injury remains unknown, but if he ends up needing to miss any time, Kevin Newman would likely benefit from extra starts at the keystone.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Exits early Wednesday

Moore was removed from Wednesday's game against Atlanta due to an apparent wrist injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Moore landed awkwardly on his left hand/wrist while diving for a groundball in the sixth inning and immediately came out of the game. He'll presumably head in for imaging to determine the extent of the damage done, and the Angels should provide more information on his status in the near future.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Exiting starting nine

Moore is not in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt versus the Yankees, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. Moore has gone 1-for-13 with five strikeouts to kick off his major-league career, and Wednesday marks the second time in six games that he'll be absent from the lineup. Scott Kingery will cover second base and bat eighth for the Angels on Wednesday.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Collects first big-league hit

Moore went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in a 1-0 extra-innings win against the Yankees on Monday. After getting called up from the minors Friday, Moore began his major-league career with no hits through nine plate appearances. He got into the hit column in fine fashion Monday, stroking a triple to center field in the eighth inning. Moore also scored the only run of the game, coming around on a Nolan Schanuel double in the 11th inning after beginning the frame on second base as the automatic runner. Moore has started three of the Angels' four games since his call-up, so he looks to be getting an opportunity for a near-everyday role, at least while Yoan Moncada (knee) remains on the IL.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Officially called up

The Angels selected Moore's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Moore, the Angels' first-round pick in 2024, will make his MLB debut Friday, batting ninth and playing second base. The 22-year-old slashed .350/.424/.575 at Salt Lake City in 92 plate appearances and will get an opportunity to seize an everyday role at the keystone with the Halos.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Chance to start Opening Day

Moore might be the Opening Day second baseman for the Angels if Luis Rengifo (hamstring) isn't ready, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Moore put up a .911 OPS with five home runs across 98 plate appearances in 23 games for Double-A Rocket City in 2024. The 22-year-old has not flashed his power during his first spring training as he tries to earn a bench spot with the Angels, but he is slashing .281/.395/.344. The eighth overall pick of the 2024 draft has been seeing game action at second base in camp while also seeing work at third on the side. The young prospect has a chance to make the jump from Double-A Rocket City to Opening Day starter for the Angels with manager Ron Washington being unsure whether Rengifo will be ready in time, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Returns for Double-A finale

Moore (knee) returned to the lineup for Double-A Rocket City's 8-0 win over Chattanooga on Saturday, serving as the designated hitter while going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, four RBI and two runs. Moore had been sidelined for just over two weeks with a left meniscus injury before joining the Rocket City lineup for what proved to be the club's season finale, as Sunday's game versus Chattanooga was cancelled due to inclement weather. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Moore shined between stops at Rocket City and Single-A Inland Empire following his selection, slashing a combined .347/.400/.584 with six home runs and 20 RBI.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: No news yet on injury

The Angels are still "gathering information" on the leg injury Moore suffered during a Double-A game Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Moore departed Friday's Double-A contest in visible pain and hasn't played since. The organization hasn't shared details on the injury or its severity and has yet to come to a "verdict" on the issue, per Fletcher. Since moving to the Double-A level in early August, Moore has slashed .302/.355/.512 with five home runs, 10 RBI, 16 runs and two stolen bases.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Exits minor-league game with injury

Moore (undisclosed) was pulled from a Double-A game Friday due to an undisclosed injury, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. Blum notes that Moore was "in some visible pain" when he departed Friday's contest, and the Angels' top prospect isn't in Rocket City's lineup Saturday. The Angels didn't provide an update on Moore's status when asked Saturday, so it's not yet clear what type of issue he is dealing with or how severe it may be. Moore had been swinging the bat well prior to getting hurt, slashing .294/.348/.506 with five home runs, 10 RBI, 16 runs and two stolen bases over 21 games at the Double-A level.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Promoted to Double-A

Moore has been promoted from Single-A Inland Empire to Double-A Rocket City, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Moore played just two games with Inland Empire before receiving a promotion, going 6-for-11 with one homer. The Angels have a recent history of being aggressive with their top draft picks, and Blum writes of Moore that he "wouldn't be shocked if he's in the big leagues quite soon." There would seem to be a possibility that the 21-year-old could get a cup of coffee in the majors later this season.
