Top Victor Vodnik News

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Locks down 10th save

Vodnik earned the save Sunday against the Angels, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

The right-hander issued a leadoff walk to Jo Adell but quickly erased it with a double play before ultimately closing the door to secure his 10th save of the season. Vodnik has been outstanding of late, giving up just one run over his last 15 appearances while converting eight saves in that span. The 25-year-old now owns a 2.92 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 47:24 K:BB across 49.1 innings on the year.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Logs ninth save Friday

Vodnik earned the save Friday against the Angels, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out one.

The save was the ninth of the season for Vodnik, who's given up just one run since Aug. 6. Seth Halvorsen (elbow) is running out of time to return in 2025, putting Vodnik in position to continue to split save opportunities with Juan Mejia going forward. Through 48.1 innings, Vodnik has a 2.98 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 46:23 K:BB.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Hangs on for eighth save

Vodnik earned the save Friday against the Padres, allowing one run on two hits and one walk in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

Vodnik's scoreless streak was stopped at 11 appearances, but he survived to secure his eighth save of the season. With Seth Halvorsen (elbow) still on the injured list, Vodnik figures to continue splitting ninth-inning duties with Juan Mejia going forward. Through 46.1 innings, Vodnik holds a 3.11 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 45:23 K:BB while converting eight of his 12 save chances.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Picks up seventh save

Vodnik allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Padres.

Vodnik earned his first save since Aug. 16 versus the Diamondbacks. The Rockies had generated just one other save since that date, which was converted by Juan Mejia. Vodnik still looks like the favorite for closer duties in Colorado, though opportunities are sparse. The right-handed reliever has maintained a 3.05 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB while adding seven saves, seven holds and four blown saves over 44.1 innings this season.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Earns sixth save

Vodnik picked up the save in Saturday's 10-7 win over the Diamondbacks. He struck out one over a perfect inning.

The right-hander has now converted saves in four straight outings, giving Vodnik six on the year and solidifying him as the go-to option in the ninth for the Rockies while Seth Halvorsen (elbow) is sidelined. Vodnik has been scored upon only once in six August appearances, posting a 2.84 ERA. 0.95 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB over 6.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Locks down fifth save

Vodnik picked up the save Friday against Arizona, striking out two in a clean ninth inning.

Vodnik secured save No. 5 on the campaign and his third of the month of August. It's notable that Juan Mejia tossed a scoreless eighth inning for a hold, which suggests Vodnik is at least slightly ahead of Mejia in the bullpen pecking order while Seth Halvorsen (elbow) is on the injured list. With Vodnik holding a concerning 1.50 WHIP over 37.1 innings this season, however, it wouldn't be surprising to see the closer situation remain somewhat of a committee going forward.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Grabs fourth save

Vodnik didn't record a strikeout in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to earn the save in a 6-5 win over St. Louis.

Vodnik earned the save for a second straight day -- he set the Cardinals down on ten pitches Wednesday after recording five outs on 27 pitches in Tuesday's victory. With Seth Halvorsen (elbow) sidelined, the 25-year-old Vodnik looks to be the preferred ninth-inning option for Colorado, despite coming into the day with a 9.00 ERA in his previous eight innings. Overall, Vodnik sports a 3.72 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP and 38 strikeouts through 36.1 innings this season.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Five-out save

Vodnik allowed one hit and struck out three across 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the save Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Vodnik took over for starter Kyle Freeland in the eighth inning with runners on first and second, but he struck out both of the batters he faced to get out of the inning. He then had a routine ninth inning to earn his third save of the season. This was Colorado's first converted save since Seth Halvorsen (elbow) landed on the 15-day injured list, so Vodnik appears to be the team's top choice to handle closer duties. His ability to hang onto the role should be in question, however, as he has allowed at least one earned run in five of his last eight appearances.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Will share closer duties with Mejia

Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer said Sunday that Vodnik and Juan Mejia will share closer duties while Seth Halvorsen (elbow) is on the 15-day injured list, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Vodnik has registered two saves this season, posting a 3.55 ERA and 34:20 K:BB over 33 innings along the way. While the right-hander has a big arm and is a groundball pitcher, a 1.55 WHIP and 13.8 percent walk rate portend to trouble. Halvorsen could miss several weeks with a mild right flexor strain, but the Rockies' closer situation is likely to remain difficult to depend on for fantasy purposes.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Back from paternity leave

The Rockies activated Vodnik (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

Vodnik missed the weekend series in Baltimore while welcoming a new addition to the family, but he's back in the Colorado bullpen for the start of a series in Cleveland. The righty has six holds and two saves this season and will continue to work in a high-leverage role for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Lands on paternity list

The Rockies placed Vodnik on the paternity list Friday.

The right-hander will step away from the team for a few days in order to be with his growing family. Vodnik should be back with the Rockies by Monday's series opener in Cleveland.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Walked off by Cincinnati

Vodnik (3-3) blew the save and took the loss in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Cincinnati. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk without recording an out.

The right-hander allowed a game-tying triple to Will Benson before a fielding error by Orlando Arcia on a Noelvi Marte groundball ended the game. It marked Vodnik's fourth blown save and third loss of the season. While he holds a 2.63 ERA over 27.1 innings in 2025, a 1.43 WHIP and 4.25 FIP point to underlying concerns.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Picks up second save

Vodnik worked the ninth inning and earned the save, allowing one hit and walking one while striking out three, during Friday's 3-2 win over Reds.

Vodnik has not excelled in save opportunities this season; this was just his second save in five chances. His last save came back on April 6, and since then, he's had two opportunities to save a game and didn't convert either. Nonetheless, the right-hander has been one of the more consistent arms out of the Rockies bullpen. After striking out the side Friday, the 25-year-old has 10 strikeouts in his last 5.2 innings, and his season-long ERA in 27.1 innings is down to 2.30.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Blows saves, tallies win

Vodnik (3-2) blew the save and picked up the win in Sunday's 4-3 extra-innings victory at Milwaukee. He allowed one unearned run on a hit and a walk with one strikeout over one inning.

Vodnik was called upon in the 10th frame after the Rockies scored a run in the top of the inning. The 25-year-old suffered his third blown save of the season when he allowed the automatic runner to score on a wild pitch; however, he bagged the win when Colorado subsequently took the lead in the top of the 11th. Vodnik was afforded this save opportunity after Seth Halvorsen pitched a scoreless ninth to push the contest into extras. Through 23.2 total innings, Vodnik has pitched to a 2.66 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 22:12 K:BB.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Bounces back for second win

Vodnik (2-2) allowed one walk across a scoreless eighth inning to earn the win Monday against the Nationals.

Vodnik had a rough outing Friday, allowing three earned runs against Atlanta across one inning of work. He bounced back Monday and earned his second win of the season, tallying his 13th scoreless effort in 18 total appearances. Vodnik has only one hold for the campaign but is working regularly in high-leverage spots.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Blows save Tuesday

Vodnik blew the save Tuesday against the Giants. He allowed three inherited runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning.

The right-hander was charged with a blown save, though he put in a tough position after Zach Agnos' disastrous one-third of an inning. Entering with the bases loaded, Vodnik allowed all three inherited runners to score on a sacrifice fly and two singles. The 25-year-old has delivered a strong 2025 campaign despite a stint on the shelf with a shoulder injury, recording a 2.25 ERA and 1.12 WHIP across 16 innings.
