Twins' Luke Keaschall: Lands on IL with sprained thumb
The Twins placed Keaschall on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left thumb sprain.
Keaschall suffered the season-ending injury during Tuesday's game against the Rangers while stealing second base. He'll visit with a specialist next week to determine whether surgery is necessary. Even if a procedure is required, Keaschall should be fine by the time spring training rolls around. The rookie finishes his promising first season with a .302/.382/.445 batting line, four home runs and 14 steals over 207 plate appearances.

Twins' Luke Keaschall: Out for rest of 2025
Keaschall was diagnosed with a sprained left thumb and will be out for the rest of the 2025 season, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports.
Keaschall suffered the injury while stealing second base in the second inning of Tuesday's game against the Rangers. He'll see a specialist next week to evaluate the severity of the sprain, but Martin relays that surgery is on the table. Keaschall burst onto the scene following his major-league debut April 18 but was out of action for just over three months due to a fractured right forearm. He'll end the 2025 season with a .302/.382/.445 slash line, 14 steals, 25 runs, 14 doubles, four home runs and 28 RBI over 207 plate appearances.

Keaschall (thumb) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Keaschall was removed from Tuesday's game versus Texas after he injured his thumb while stealing second base. With Keaschall out Wednesday, Ryan Fitzgerald is making the start at second base and batting eighth. Keaschall went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 victory at Kansas City.
The Minnesota rookie was credited with a swiping home on double-steal attempt in the sixth to give his team a 4-0 lead. Since returning from a forearm injury Aug. 5, Keaschall has produced like a star for the Twins, batting .313 (36-for-115) with four homers, six steals, 20 RBI and 15 runs scored across 29 contests. Overall, the 23-year-old is now slashing .321/.405/.485 with 11 stolen bases, 22 RBI and 19 runs scored in 153 total plate appearances.

Keaschall went 4-for-5 with an RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's 11-8 loss to the White Sox.
Keaschall had gone five games without a multi-hit effort prior to Thursday, but he busted that slump with the first four-hit performance of his young career. He's had no trouble against major-league pitching over his first 33 games, slashing .328/.418/.508 with four home runs, 21 RBI, 18 runs scored, nine stolen bases and 10 doubles across 141 plate appearances. Keaschall should continue to see a near-everyday role at second base in the final few weeks of the campaign.
