  • Rays' J.D. Gonzalez: Moved to Tampa Bay

    The Rays acquired Gonzalez, right-hander Dylan Lesko and outfielder Homer Bush from the Padres on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Jason Adam, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. The 18-year-old catcher was selected 96th overall by San Diego during the 2023 First-Year Player Draft and has played his first professional ball this season. Gonzalez has struggled at the Single-A level with a .205/.322/.230 slash line and 27.6 percent strikeout rate, but he still has plenty of upside given his age.
