  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Yields four runs in loss

Aldegheri (0-2) took the loss against the Astros on Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five across 4.2 innings. Aldegheri gave up a run in the first inning but managed to keep the Astros off the board through the next three frames. He was brought back out for the fifth, only to be tagged for three more runs on homers from Yainer Diaz and Ramon Urias before being pulled. Aldegheri spent most of the 2025 season in Triple-A but appeared in four major-league games for the Angels, including two starts in September. He'll end the year with the big club with a 7.90 ERA and 2.20 WHIP over 13.2 innings, and he'll end his season in Triple-A with an 8-8 record across 24 starts with a 3.78 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 113:60 K:BB in 133.1 innings.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Gets nod for season finale

Aldegheri is slated to start Sunday's game against the Astros in Anaheim. He'll take a second straight turn through the rotation to close out the season after he was dealt a loss Tuesday against the Royals last week. Through three appearances (one start) with the Angels this season, the young southpaw has allowed eight earned runs on 13 hits and seven walks while striking out seven over nine innings.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Takes loss in first start

Aldegheri (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against the Royals. He struck out three. Aldegheri stumbled out of the gate Tuesday, giving up hits to the first two batters he faced and ultimately surrendering a pair of runs in the opening frame. This marked the southpaw's first big-league start of the season and his first MLB appearance since July 8. Through three appearances spanning nine innings, Aldegheri owns an 8.00 ERA and 2.22 WHIP.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Slated to start Tuesday

Aldegheri will start Tuesday's series opener versus the Royals in Anaheim, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The Angels recalled Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday after Jose Soriano (forearm) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move, and since Aldegheri wasn't needed out of the bullpen in the Halos' weekend series in Colorado, he'll end up slotting into Soriano's spot in the rotation. Though he was tagged for seven runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings over his prior two long-relief appearances with the big club earlier this summer, Aldegheri has excelled since the All-Star break while pitching out of the rotations for Salt Lake and Double-A Rocket City, notching a 2.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB in 55.2 innings. Unless the Angels elect to expand the rotation to six men, Aldegheri will tentatively line up for two starts during the last week of the season, with his second turn set to come in Sunday's finale versus the Astros.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Officially promoted

The Angels recalled Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday. Aldegheri will come up from the minors to presumably fill the absence in Los Angeles' rotation left by Jose Soriano (forearm), who was placed on the injured list Thursday. Aldegheri has given up five earned runs in just 4.1 innings in the big leagues this year, though he owns a 3.82 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 127.1 minor-league frames.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Joining big-league club

The Angels will recall Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The Angels have not announced any probable pitchers for their weekend series in Colorado, and Aldegheri could slot into the rotation one of those days. Aldegheri boasts a 2.52 ERA and 50:20 K:BB over 60.2 innings covering his last 10 starts between Double-A Rocket City and Salt Lake. The lefty has made two relief appearances for the Angels this season, yielding seven runs (five earned) across 4.1 frames.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Sent back to Double-A

The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Double-A Rocket City on Wednesday. Aldegheri tossed two innings of relief in Tuesday's 13-1 loss to the Rangers and allowed five earned runs on five hits and four walks. He struck out two of the 15 batters in which he faced and threw a total of 64 pitches. The Angels needed a fresh bullpen arm and selected the contract of veteran reliever Carson Fulmer.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Back to minors

Aldegheri was optioned to Double-A Rocket City on Thursday. Aldegheri was promoted to the majors Monday and made his 2025 debut Wednesday. He allowed two unearned runs across 2.1 frames but will quickly head back to the minors.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Gets first call-up of 2025

The Angels recalled Aldegheri from Double-A Rocket City on Monday. Aldegheri made three starts for the Angels late last season, but he'll be back with the big club for the first time in 2025 after being optioned to the minors early on in spring training. The 23-year-old lefty has continued his development as a starter this season at Rocket City, where he had posted a 4.54 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 41.2 innings across his eight outings. The Angels don't appear to have an opening in the rotation at the moment, so Aldegheri is likely to slot in as a multi-inning reliever for the time being.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Expected to join big-league roster

Aldegheri is expected to join the Angels in Boston for their three-game series beginning Monday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. Aldegheri will return to the big leagues after spending the entirety of the 2025 campaign with Double-A Rocket City so far. The left-hander has produced a 4.34 ERA with 48 strikeouts over 47.2 innings in nine starts with the Trash Pandas to this point. It's unclear what role the 23-year-old will have with the Angels, but he compiled a 4.85 ERA and 1.92 WHIP with 10 punchouts over 13 innings in three starts with the team in 2024.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Aldegheri made just one appearance this spring, giving up two home runs and striking out three batters in his lone inning of work. He turned in a 4.85 ERA and 1.92 WHIP across 13 innings with the Angels last season, but he'll head back to the minors to begin 2025 and will likely need to demonstrate success over an extended period of time before getting the call back to Anaheim.

  • Angels' Samuel Aldegheri: Out with finger blister

The Angels placed Aldegheri on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a blister on his left middle finger. The 23-year-old surrendered four earned runs over two innings during his third MLB start Saturday, and he won't be eligible to return from the IL before the end of the season. Aldegheri had a 3.60 ERA in two starts with Double-A Reading after being acquired by the Angels ahead of the summer trade deadline, and he posted a 4.85 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 10:10 K:BB over 13 frames in his first taste of the big leagues. The left-hander should have a chance to crack the Angels' starting rotation coming out of spring training, but he could also begin the campaign in the minors given he has yet to see action at the Triple-A level.

  • Angels' Samuel Aldegheri: Rocked by Astros

Aldegheri (1-2) took the loss Friday as the Angels fell 5-3 to the Astros, giving up four runs on six hits and five walks over two-plus innings. He failed to strike out a batter. After recording his first career win and first quality start in his last outing, Aldegheri crashed back to Earth with a thud. The southpaw threw only 26 of 53 pitches for strikes before getting the hook, and when he did get the ball over the plate it was hit hard -- two-run homer from Alex Bregman helped chase Aldegheri from the game in the third inning. The Angels are essentially holding auditions for their 2025 rotation over the final weeks, so the 22-year-old will keep his spot, but he isn't building a strong case. Aldegheri will take a 4.85 ERA and 10:10 K:BB through his first 13 big-league innings into his next start, which is scheduled to be a rematch with the Astros back in Houston next week.

  • Angels' Samuel Aldegheri: Contract selected ahead of debut

The Angels selected Aldegheri's contract from Double-A Rocket City ahead of his start Friday against the Mariners. Aldegheri will make his major-league debut Friday after splitting his time this season between High-A and Double-A, during which he recorded 134 strikeouts over 95.1 innings. The 22-year-old southpaw was acquired by the Angels in late July as part of the trade package sending Carlos Estevez to the Phillies. Aldegheri will take the spot in the Angels' starting rotation vacated by Carson Fulmer, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right elbow inflammation.

  • Phillies' Samuel Aldegheri: Moves up to Double-A

The Phillies promoted Aldegheri from High-A Jersey Shore to Double-A Reading on Tuesday. He made his Double-A debut three days later, taking the loss in a start against Akron after striking out eight over five innings while allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks. The 22-year-old lefty joined the Reading rotation after dazzling over his 13 starts at the High-A level, where he turned in a 3.18 ERA and 1.06 WHIP while striking out 94 batters over 68 innings.
