The Arizona outfielder notched his fifth three-hit performance of the season, and he also swiped his sixth base. Thomas has been filling an everyday role for the Diamondbacks since Aug. 1, hitting .298 (17-for-57) with two homers, two doubles, six runs scored and six RBI across 15 games this month. Thomas continued a surge this month and has gone 12-for-32 (.375) with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI and five runs over nine August games. His bat has always trailed his glove in the majors -- Thomas entered the year with a .629 OPS over his first three seasons -- but he's shown modest improvement in 2025. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing .256/.302/.395 with eight home runs, 32 RBI and 39 runs over 102 contests.

He's added a .260/.308/.401 slash line with 30 RBI, 38 runs scored, five stolen bases, 13 doubles and two triples over 97 contests. Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Taking seat Wednesday
Thomas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
The left-handed-hitting Thomas will get a rare day off against a righty (Chris Paddack) while the Diamondbacks clear room in the lineup for Jorge Barrosa, who will occupy center field in the series finale. Thomas started in both of the first two games of the series, going 1-for-6 with a solo home run and a walk.

Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Provides lone run in loss
Thomas went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Tigers.
Thomas' eighth-inning blast ended a 25-inning scoreless streak for the Diamondbacks, who have scored just two runs over the last four games. It was his sixth homer of the season and first since July 2. Arizona is a seller heading into the trade deadline, and Thomas could be an attractive piece with three years of control beyond 2025. Any trade activity that doesn't involve Thomas is not expected to impact his playing; he should remain the team's primary center fielder against right-handed starters.

Thomas is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.

Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Back in action Wednesday
Thomas (knee) will start in center field and bat ninth Wednesday against the Padres.
Thomas was a late scratch from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's 1-0 loss to San Diego due to a sore right knee, though he still managed to get into the game as a pinch hitter. He'll return to the starting nine Wednesday and aim to turn things around after starting July by going 3-for-20 with eight strikeouts.

Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Scratched from lineup
Thomas was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against San Diego due to right knee soreness, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.
The D-backs are labeling Thomas as day-to-day, so a trip to the injured list doesn't seem imminent at the moment. He'll take Tuesday off to recover while Jake McCarthy moves to center field and Randal Grichuk enters the lineup as Arizona's DH.

Thomas went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the White Sox.
Thomas singled, stole and later scored during a three-run seventh for the Diamondbacks. The base knock was Thomas' first since June 14. Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Receiving night off

While starting in each of Arizona's previous 11 contests, Thomas went 11-for-39 (.282 average) with two home runs, one stolen base, eight runs and three RBI.

Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Fills box score Tuesday
Thomas went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and four total runs scored in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Mariners.
Thomas made some noise from the bottom of the lineup. He's hit safely in five of his last six games, going 9-for-22 (.409). Two of his three homers have come in that short stretch of success, which has helped him maintain a starting role in center field as he works to overcome a poor May. Thomas is now at a .273/.315/.395 slash line while adding 19 RBI, 21 runs scored and four stolen bases across 185 plate appearances.
