Tigers' Parker Meadows: Demoted to nine spot
Meadows will start in center field and bat ninth in Thursday's Game 3 of the American League Wild Card Series versus the Guardians.
The Guardians are sending righty Slade Cecconi to the bump, but the left-handed-swinging Meadows has nonetheless been pushed from the leadoff spot all the way to the bottom of the batting order. Meadows has gone 1-for-8 with a 1:3 BB:K in the first two games of the series. Gleyber Torres -- who typically bats second -- will hit leadoff for the Tigers in Thursday's elimination game.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Elevated to leadoff spot
Meadows will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus the Marlins.
It's the first time since June 14 that Meadows has occupied the leadoff spot. Each of his first five starts back from the injured list have come from the bottom-third of the lineup, but he's earned a move up by going 7-for-15 with two home runs and a 3:1 BB:K.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Big game Tuesday
Meadows went 3-for-5 with a home run, two total runs scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 12-2 win over the Yankees.
Meadows hit his second home run in his last three games and fourth of the season in the fifth inning with a runner on against New York starter Will Warren. The outfielder added an RBI single in the seventh. While Meadows is slashing just .216/.291/.351 overall this season, he's been better lately with a .276/.364/.552 line across his last 10 contests, which date back to July due to him missing time with a strained right quad. The 25-year-old should continue to start regularly in center because of his strong defensive play, and increased production at the plate would be an added bonus.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Homers in return
Meadows went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 7-5 loss to the White Sox.
Meadows homered in his first at-bat since July 27 and later added a walk before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. It was an encouraging showing for the talented 25-year-old, who's slashing .206/.281/.325 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 16 runs scored and three steals across 139 plate appearances this season.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Activated Friday
Meadows (quadriceps) has been activated from the 10-day injured list and will start Friday's game against the White Sox in center field, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Meadows will be in the Tigers' lineup for the first time since being placed on the injured list July 28 due to a strained right quad. The 25-year-old will immediately slot into his usual center field spot. In six rehab games, Meadows went 5-for-20 (.250) with a double and a triple.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Starting up rehab assignment
Meadows (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
The Tigers were satisfied with how Meadows' strained right quad held up Tuesday during a running workout, which was the final hurdle he needed to clear before heading out on a rehab assignment. He'll likely remain with Toledo through the weekend before Detroit potentially brings Meadows back from the injured list when the active roster expands to 28 players Monday. Before landing on the IL on July 28, Meadows had slashed .200/.270/.296 with two home runs and three stolen bases over 137 plate appearances.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Nearing rehab assignment
Meadows (quadriceps) will undergo a running test over the next few days and could begin a rehab assignment after that if he checks out well, MLB.com reports.
Meadows has been running, hitting and throwing regularly as he recovers from a right quad strain, and he now appears set to advance to the next stage. If the 25-year-old looks good during the running evaluation, he could head out on a brief minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the injured list in early September. Meadows has been out since July 28 and will likely slot in as Detroit's primary center fielder when he's back, at least against right-handed pitching.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Could begin rehab soon
Meadows (quad) has been running, hitting and throwing regularly, and a rehab assignment could be on tap soon, MLB.com reports.
Meadows has been out since July 28 due to a right quadriceps strain. The outfielder seems to be progressing in his recovery, and the expectation is that he'll be back with the Tigers this month. While Meadows is only batting .200 on the year, he does provide strong defense in center, and Detroit could use the reinforcement with Matt Vierling (oblique) likely out until September and possibly set to miss the rest of the regular season.

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Begins running progression
Meadows (quad) has begun a running progression, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Meadows is just over a week removed from landing on the 10-day injured list with a right quad strain, so it's a good sign that he's already been cleared to run. It's still too soon to project when he might be able to return to the Tigers' active roster, however. Matt Vierling has been seeing most of the action in center field for Detroit since Meadows was injured.
