Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Solid over seven innings
Yamamoto allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Monday.
Yamamoto bounced back from a rocky start his previous time on the mound, when he gave up six runs over 4.2 innings against the Angels. The All-Star hurler couldn't hold an early 2-0 lead Monday, but he gave up just one extra-base hit (an Ezequiel Tovar solo homer) and recorded 12 whiffs along with six punchouts. Yamamoto has fallen behind in the NL Cy Young Award race, but he still ranks among the senior circuit's top pitchers in several categories, including ERA (2.90, ninth), WHIP (1.08, eighth) and strikeouts (151, 11th).

Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Struggles mightily Monday
Yamamoto (10-8) took the loss against the Angels on Monday, pitching 4.2 innings during which he allowed six runs on six hits and five walks while striking out six batters.
Yamamoto fell behind quickly, as the first pitch he threw was knocked by Zach Neto for a home run. The All-Star hurler gave up another run in the first but looked to get back on track with three straight scoreless frames. However, the Angels chased Yamamoto in the fifth, compiling four hits -- all singles -- along with a hit-by-pitch and a walk en route to four runs. Though the Neto homer was the only extra-base hit Yamamoto allowed, he didn't do himself any favors by issuing five free passes, tying a season-high mark. The six runs were the most Yamamoto has given up all year, and his overall ERA bumped up from 2.51 to 2.84 as a result.

Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Rebounds with seven shutout frames
Yamamoto allowed three hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Sunday.
Yamamoto was chased in the first inning of his last start versus the Brewers on Monday, so this was a fantastic bounce-back effort. After a dominant first two-plus months of the season, Yamamoto has been less of a sure thing, posting a 3.57 ERA over his last eight starts (40.1 innings), a span that includes three starts of four or more runs allowed. Altogether, he's at a 2.59 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 116:36 K:BB through 104.1 innings over 19 starts. He won't participate in the All-Star Game in Atlanta on Tuesday since he pitched Sunday, but he'll be ready to go whenever his turn comes up as the Dodgers host three-game series versus the Brewers and Twins coming out of the break.

Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Chased in first inning
Yamamoto (8-7) took the loss Monday against Milwaukee, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks with no strikeouts over two-thirds of an inning.
Yamamoto retired two of the first four batters he faced before allowing a three-run homer to Andrew Vaughn, a single to Isaac Collins and a walk to Brice Turang. It seemed Yamamoto would get out of the inning without another run scoring, but a throwing error by Mookie Betts extended the inning. Manager Dave Roberts elected to remove Yamamoto after 41 pitches, marking the right-hander's shortest start in his two-year MLB career. In his last six outings, Yamamoto owns a 3.64 ERA and a 32:11 K:BB across 29.2 innings. He'll look to get back on track against the Giants this weekend.

Yamamoto has taken advantage of a pair of favorable matchups, allowing a total of one run on four hits and two walks over 12 innings combined against the Rockies and White Sox. The right-hander should be gaining some confidence from these outings after a shaky stretch against tougher opponents earlier in June. Yamamoto has a 2.51 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 109:32 K:BB through 96.2 innings over 17 starts this season.
