  • Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Yields two homers in loss

Gallen (9-13) allowed three runs on five hits and struck out three without walking a batter over six innings to take the loss versus the Guardians on Monday.

Gallen has recorded a quality start in three of his four outings in August, though his effort Monday wasn't enough to get a win. He allowed a solo home run to C.J. Kayfus in the second inning and gave up a two-run blast to Brayan Rocchio in the fifth, making this the first time in five starts Gallen has given up multiple homers. The veteran right-hander is now at a 5.28 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 134:52 K:BB through 150 innings over 26 starts this season. Gallen is projected to make his next start at home versus the Reds.

  • Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Goes five innings in no-decision

Gallen did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out one.

It's the first time in five starts that Gallen's failed to make it through six innings -- the right-hander had won his previous two outings, giving up just three runs over 12 innings in that span. Overall, Gallen's ERA sits at 5.31 with a 1.35 WHIP and 131:52 K:BB across 25 starts (144 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to face the Guardians at home his next time out.

  • Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Collects ninth win

Gallen (9-12) allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings to earn the win over the Rockies on Friday.

Gallen has covered at least six innings in six of his last seven starts, earning wins in all four of his quality starts in that span. He limited the damage to a Kyle Karros RBI single in the second inning of this contest, though the Diamondbacks' lead was never in danger. Gallen is now at a 5.31 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 130:50 K:BB through 139 innings across 24 starts this season. The veteran right-hander's next outing is projected to be on the road versus the Rangers.

  • Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Picks up eighth win

Gallen (8-12) allowed two runs on nine hits and struck out three without walking a batter over six innings to earn the win Saturday over the Athletics.

Gallen was able to scatter six singles and three doubles, and only Tyler Soderstrom's two-run double in the third inning put any damage on the right-hander's line. Gallen had mixed results with a 5.10 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 30 innings over five starts in July, but August is off to a better start for him. Overall, he's at a 5.48 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 124:47 K:BB through 133 innings through 23 starts, numbers that may have suppressed his trade value and ultimately allowed him to stick with Arizona. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Rockies.

  • Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Falls to Pirates

Gallen (7-12) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out five and taking a loss against Pittsburgh.

Gallen ran into some trouble early, allowing a run in the second inning and two in the third. Arizona couldn't bring a run home against Paul Skenes and the Pirates' bullpen, leading to Gallen's third consecutive loss. Gallen has given up at least four runs in seven of his last nine outings, registering a 6.24 ERA during that span. His season ERA is up to 5.60 alongside a 121:47 K:BB through 127 frames. Gallen's name has been floated around as a potential trade piece, but he's currently projected to take the mound on the road against the Athletics next weekend.

  • Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Tagged for two homers in loss

Gallen (7-11) allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six over six-plus innings to take the loss Monday versus the Astros.

Five of the six runs allowed came on the first two home runs of Brice Matthews' career, the second of which forced Gallen out of the game in the seventh inning. He's allowed a career-high 23 home runs with more than two months remaining in the season. After a couple of positive starts to begin July, Gallen has allowed 12 runs over his last 11 frames. The bad continues to outweigh the good for the right-hander, who now has a 5.58 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 116:46 K:BB across 121 innings through 21 starts this season. Gallen is tentatively projected for a favorable road start in Pittsburgh this weekend.

  • Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Saddled with 10th loss

Gallen (7-10) took the loss Saturday, surrendering six runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings as the Diamondbacks fell 10-5 to the Angels. He struck out three.

While the right-hander did manage to last at least five innings for the 17th straight start, Gallen crashed back to earth after looking more like his old self to begin July. He's been tagged for at least five runs in three of his last five trips to the mound, and since the beginning of June he's served up 11 homers in only 48.1 innings, with Mike Trout doing the honors Saturday. Gallen will head into the All-Star break laboring under a 5.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 110:45 K:BB through 115 innings.
