Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Loses bid for perfect game
Rotowire
Schlittler came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Rays, allowing one hit and two walks over 6.2 scoreless innings. He struck out eight.
The rookie right-hander was perfect through six innings, but he lost his bid for history when Chandler Simpson led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single. Schlittler then saw what would have been his second win of the year slip away when the Yankees' bullpen staged its usual meltdown. Schlittler's eight Ks were still a career high, and he's putting together a dazzling August, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB over 21.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Nationals.

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Six Ks in five impressive innings
Rotowire
Schlittler didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Twins, allowing one run on two hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out six.
Schlittler worked at least five innings for a third straight start and for the fifth time this season among six outings. The two hits allowed established a season low for the rookie right-hander, who also conceded a season-best one run. Schlittler has a useful 3.94 ERA and 30:14 K:BB over 29.2 innings, but his 1.52 WHIP is cause for concern heading into his next scheduled start in Tampa Bay against the Rays.

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Called up ahead of start
Rotowire
The Yankees selected Schlittler's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Mariners in New York.
The Yankees designated reliever Geoff Hartlieb for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for Schlittler, who will join the rotation Wednesday as a replacement for the injured Clarke Schmidt (forearm). The 24-year-old Schlittler had his worst start of the season for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre his last time out July 2 (six earned runs allowed over 2.1 innings), but he's been effective on the whole between stops at Triple-A and Double-A Somerset, logging a 2.82 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 99:26 K:BB in 76.2 innings. If he's able to acquit himself well in his MLB debut, Schlittler could be in line for multiple turns through the New York rotation until Luis Gil (lat) or Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) returns from the injured list.

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Headed to New York
Rotowire
The Yankees are expected to call up Schlittler from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start either Tuesday or Wednesday against the Mariners in New York, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
With Clarke Schmidt (forearm) likely destined for season-ending Tommy John surgery, the Yankees will turn to one of their top pitching prospects to fill the hole in their starting rotation. Schlittler, 24, owns a 3.80 ERA and 1.25 WHIP through five starts (23.2 innings) at Triple-A, though nearly all of the damage done against him came during his most recent outing Tuesday, when he allowed seven runs (six earned) in 2.1 innings.

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: In mix to replace Schmidt
Rotowire
Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Schlittler has "certainly put himself in the mix" to join the Yankees' rotation due to Clarke Schmidt (forearm) going on the 15-day injured list, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Boone called Schlittler an "exciting pitcher," which is not controversial, as Schlittler throws in the upper-90s with his fastball and had a 1.37 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in 26.1 innings over his five most recent starts prior to a blowup outing Wednesday in which he gave up six earned runs over 2.1 innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Schlittler is not on the 40-man roster, and if the Yankees don't look his way this time, it could be Allan Winans who serves as a spot starter next week before the All-Star break gives the club a chance to reset the rotation.

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Dominating at Triple-A
Rotowire
Schlittler has a 1.69 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 33:8 K:BB in 21.1 innings through four starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Schlittler was promoted from Double-A Somerset on June 3 after logging a 2.38 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 64:17 K:BB in 53 innings through 10 appearances at that level, after working 32.1 innings for Somerset in 2024. A 6-foot-6 righty, Schlittler sits at 95-96 mph with his fastball and touches 98 mph with excellent movement. He leans heavily on his 90-mph slider while occasionally mixing in a low-80s curveball. Schlittler is not on the 40-man roster, but he looks like he might be ready to help the big club this summer.
