White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Returned to Charlotte
The White Sox returned Ellard to Triple-A Charlotte following Friday's doubleheader against Cleveland.
Ellard struck out a batter while tossing a scoreless inning during the first game of the twin bill. Now that his duties as Chicago's 27th man have been fulfilled, the 27-year-old will return to Triple-A, where he owns a 3.27 ERA and 1.64 WHIP through 11 innings.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Rejoins bullpen
The White Sox recalled Ellard from Triple-A Charlotte to serve as their 27th man for Friday's doubleheader versus the Guardians.
Ellard will rejoin the White Sox for the first time since early May, after being reinstated from the 60-day IL and optioned to Charlotte on July 4. During his time at Triple-A this season, Ellard hasn't shown an ability to curb his walks (17.3 BB% in 11 innings), so the White Sox may not be eager to deploy him in high-leverage spots. He'll likely be returned to Charlotte once the twin bill concludes.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A
The White Sox reinstated Ellard (lat) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Ellard held his opponents scoreless in each of his final five rehab appearances with Charlotte, but the White Sox will need to see more before returning the lefty to the major-league roster. He made seven appearances out of the Chicago bullpen before going down with the lat injury, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 6.2 innings.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Starting rehab assignment
Ellard (lat) was assigned to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment.
The left-hander has been sidelined by a lat strain since early May and was transferred to the 60-day IL in early June. Ellard will have a couple weeks to get up to speed in the minors since he won't be eligible to be reinstated until July 3.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Moved to 60-day IL
The White Sox transferred Ellard (lat) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
Ellard landed on the 15-day IL in early May due to a left lat strain, and he's far enough way from a return to warrant placement on the 60-day IL. The move makes room on the 40-man roster for veteran reliever Tyler Alexander, who agreed to a contract with Chicago on Sunday.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Out with lat injury
The White Sox placed Ellard on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a left lat strain.
The left-hander presumably sustained the injury Saturday when he gave up two runs on two walks over two-thirds of an inning. Ellard missed most of April due to a hamstring strain and is now on the injured list for the second time this season.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Back from injured list
The White Sox activated Ellard (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Ellard missed almost three weeks of action due to a strained right hamstring. The left-handed reliever should go back to working in high-leverage situations in an unsettled White Sox bullpen.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Starting rehab assignment Thursday
Ellard (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Ellard landed on the 15-day injured list April 11 due to a right hamstring injury, and he's progressed enough in his recovery to embark on a rehab assignment with Charlotte. He logged a 5.40 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB across five innings out of the White Sox's bullpen before landing on the IL.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Works eighth inning of loss
Ellard struck out two and walked one while not allowing a hit across a scoreless eighth inning in Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
Ellard has pitched well overall this season, as this marked his fourth scoreless appearance in five chances. His last outing came Sunday in a save situation, though he pitched with the White Sox down by two runs in the eighth inning Wednesday. Mike Clevinger pitched in a more traditional closer role Tuesday, but it's unclear which pitcher will claim save chances moving forward.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Takes loss in ninth-inning collapse
Ellard (0-1) allowed three earned runs on two walks and a hit across two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Sunday against the Tigers.
Ellard entered the game in the eighth inning to protect a two-run lead and recorded the final out with runners on first and second. He remained on the mound for the final frame, though he allowed a leadoff single and proceeded to load the bases with two walks. Ellard was pulled at that point, but Jordan Leasure allowed all three runners to score, resulting in Ellard taking the loss. This was his third appearance of the season, with the first two coming in the sixth inning when the White Sox were losing. Ellard's usage Sunday suggests he could be a candidate for saves, though his results could change that.

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Earns first save
Ellard pitched the ninth inning and earned a save against Oakland on Sunday. He struck out one and allowed a solo homer.
Ellard coughed up a solo shot to Shea Langeliers but still escaped with his first career save. The White Sox continue to spread ninth-inning work around the bullpen when a rare save opportunity presents itself. With Jordan Leasure (shoulder) still on the injured list, no active pitcher on the roster has multiple saves this season. Ellard owns a 3.06 ERA with a 22:8 K:BB through 18 MLB appearances.

The White Sox selected Ellard's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.
