Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Poor showing in eighth loss
Gordon (6-8) took the loss Wednesday against the Mariners, allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and no walks in 3.1 innings. He struck out three.
Gordon was unable to build on his prior two outings, which were both quality starts, as it was his shortest outing since Aug. 4 against the Blue Jays. The right-hander did manage to issue zero walks for the first time Aug. 10, but that's about the extent of the positive takeaways from Wednesday. Gordon has likely made his last appearance in 2025, ending the season with a miserable 6.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 62:17 K:BB across 75.1 innings, though five of his last seven outings were quality starts.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Takes loss despite quality start
Gordon (6-7) took the loss Thursday against the Marlins, surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings.
The right-hander was burned in the third inning, giving up back-to-back home runs -- a two-run shot to Liam Hicks followed by a solo blast from Otto Lopez. Gordon has struggled with the long ball recently, serving up six homers in his last three starts. Despite the home runs, the 27-year-old has otherwise been steady, delivering five quality starts in his last six outings. Over that stretch, Gordon has lowered his ERA by nearly two full runs, and he'll look to keep trending in the right direction when he faces the Mariners in his final start of the season next week. He owns a 6.00 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 59:17 K:BB across 72 innings for the Rockies in 2025.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Fans nine in six excellent frames
Gordon (6-6) recorded the win Friday against the Padres, allowing one run on two hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out nine.
The 27-year-old left-hander tied a season high in strikeouts, tossing at least six frames for the seventh time out of 13 outings this year as well. Since seeing his ERA balloon to 8.37 following a disastrous Aug. 10 start in Arizona, when he was obliterated for 10 earned runs, Gordon has managed to throw six innings while yielding two runs or fewer in four of his last six appearances to enhance his ERA to 6.14 for the season. He'll carry a 1.50WHIP and 55:16 K:BB over 66 frames into a scheduled start versus Miami his next time out.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Hit hard by Padres
Gordon (5-6) took the loss Sunday against San Diego, allowing six runs on six hits and one walk across 3.2 innings. He struck out five.
Gordon surrendered three home runs: one in the first inning to Manny Machado, one in the second inning to Jackson Merrill and one in the fourth inning to Gavin Sheets. The outing marked Gordon's first time allowing multiple homers in a start this season and snapped an excellent stretch of play. In four starts leading up to Sunday's appearance, Gordon posted a 2.74 ERA and a 19:6 K:BB across 23 innings. He went 3-0. The 27-year-old is slated for a rematch with the Padres next weekend but will have the benefit of pitching away from Coors Field.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Posts another quality start
Gordon didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk across six innings. He struck out nine.
Gordon started August with a pair of ugly outings, allowing 17 runs and 23 hits in 7.1 innings. He's rebounded with four straight starts yielding three or fewer runs, including three consecutive quality starts. During that four-game stretch, Gordon has a 2.74 ERA and a 19:6 K:BB across 23 innings. His nine Ks marked a career high. Gordon is tentatively scheduled to face the Padres in his next start.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Stellar in fifth win
Gordon (5-5) earned the win Tuesday, allowing a run on six hits and three walks over six innings in a 6-1 win over the Astros. He struck out five.
The right-hander turned in a steady outing Tuesday, giving up just a run on a solo homer to Jesus Sanchez in the second inning. Gordon has now delivered back-to-back starts of six innings with only one earned run allowed in each, a stark turnaround from the 7.98 ERA and 1.80 WHIP he posted over his first eight starts of the season.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Shines in win against Dodgers
Gordon (4-5) tossed six innings against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out three batters to earn the victory.
Gordon kept Los Angeles off the scoreboard until Teoscar Hernandez tagged him for a solo homer in the sixth inning. Overall, Gordon threw 60 of 92 pitches for strikes and got a first-pitch strike on 17 of the 24 batters he faced. This was quite a turnaround for the right-hander, especially considering the competition -- over his previous four starts, he had registered a horrid 15.26 ERA across 15.1 innings. Gordon seems like a good bet to make his next turn in the rotation after the strong outing and with Austin Gomber placed on outright waivers Wednesday. If that's the case, Gordon's next start is lined up to come in Houston next week.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Decent in third win
Gordon (3-5) notched the win Friday against Arizona, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out two.
Gordon entered the day having been dismantled for 23 earned runs over his prior three starts, so Friday's display was a step in the right direction. The right-hander attacked the zone for 54 strikes among his 78 pitches, although he's still reached the 90-pitch marker just once out of eight outings on the year. Gordon has a hideous 7.98 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB over 38.1 frames, and he should likely be avoided at home next week against the division-rival Dodgers in most situations from a fantasy perspective.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Lit up again Sunday
Gordon (2-5) allowed 10 runs on 12 hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Gordon gave up just one home run -- a three-run shot to Adrian Del Castillo in the first inning -- but the Colorado right-hander couldn't generate much weak contact. He threw 61 of 77 pitches for strikes, but Arizona pieced together a huge rally in the fifth inning that ultimately knocked him from the game. Gordon has been awful in the majors this year with an 8.37 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB through 33.1 innings over seven starts. With Chase Dollander reportedly being called up to pitch Monday versus the Cardinals, per Thomas Harding of MLB.com, it's possible Gordon could be the corresponding move given his recent struggles, though the Rockies have plenty of candidates to be jettisoned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Rocked by Blue Jays
Gordon (2-4) allowed seven runs on 11 hits and no walks while striking out one batter over 2.2 innings to take the loss against Toronto on Monday.
Gordon struggled from the outset, giving up a run on three hits in the first inning. That frame was just the beginning of a rough outing for the right-hander; he gave up another run in the second and then had the bottom fall out in the third, when Toronto tagged him for six hits (three of which went for extra bases) while putting five more runs on his ledger. Gordon unsurprisingly didn't survive that inning, as he was pulled with two outs after 67 pitches. Gordon posted a respectable 3.13 ERA through his first four MLB appearances this season, but that number has ballooned to 6.59 following back-to back ugly starts during which he's surrendered a combined 14 runs (13 earned) across just 5.2 frames.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Hit hard in loss
Gordon (2-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Guardians, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out two in three innings.
Gordon was hit around in this one and had a disappointing outing after he was impressive in a scoreless showing against the Cardinals last week. Gordon allowed three runs through two innings and coughed up another four runs in the third, including a Kyle Manzardo two-run homer and Brayan Rocchio two-run triple. Despite the rough showing, Gordon figures to stick around in the rotation for the short term while German Marquez (biceps) is recovering. Gordon lines up to start at home versus the Blue Jays to begin next week.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Receiving another start
Gordon is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Guardians at Progressive Field.
The right-hander will be rewarded with a second turn through the rotation after he came through with a quality start last Wednesday, when he was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque. He kept the Cardinals off the board over six innings, earning his second career win while striking out three and scattering four hits and three walks. Gordon will get a favorable draw Tuesday, taking on a Guardians offense that has produced a collective 92 wRC+ (24th in MLB) since the beginning of July.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Blanks Cards in return
Gordon (2-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Cardinals, allowing four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out three.
Gordon was excellent in his first major-league start since May 28, scattering six hits to earn his second win in a 6-0 shutout. The 27-year-old Gordon has pitched to a 3.13 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB across his first four starts (23 innings) this season. The right-hander figures to remain in Colorado's rotation moving forward after German Marquez (biceps) landed on the IL. Gordon is currently lined up to face the Guardians on the road in his next outing.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Recalled ahead of start
The Rockies recalled Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Gordon will start Wednesday's contest against the Cardinals at Coors Field and will have a chance to make additional turns through the rotation with the big club while German Marquez (biceps) is on the 15-day injured list. The right-hander has made three starts with Colorado this season, posting a 4.24 ERA and 10:3 K:BB over 17 frames.

Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Rockies activated Gordon (oblique) from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Gordon is over his oblique strain, but the Rockies have elected to keep him at Albuquerque where he had been on his rehab assignment rather than adding him back to the major-league roster. The righty will be part of Albuquerque's rotation.
