  • Angels' Sammy Peralta: Called up Saturday

    Peralta was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Peralta will return to the major-league bullpen following a demotion Monday, replacing Luis Garcia (oblique) after he was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Peralta owns an inflated 8.38 ERA and 2.07 WHIP with seven strikeouts over 9.2 innings in four appearances with the Angels in September.

    The White Sox optioned Peralta to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. Peralta will give up his spot on the 26-man active roster to make room for right-hander Dominic Leone (elbow), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. During his latest stint in the majors, Peralta made three relief appearances and didn't allow a run in two of the outings. However, he yielded four runs in one-third of an inning against the Royals on Wednesday.

    Peralta was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. Peralta will return to the big leagues after being sent down to Charlotte on June 11, replacing Jordan Leasure (shoulder) in Chicago's bullpen after Leasure was placed on the 15-day injured list. Peralta has produced an impressive 1.08 ERA and 0.74 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 16.2 innings in 14 appearances with Charlotte and he'll look to keep it up in the majors.

    The White Sox optioned Peralta to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Just two days after being selected from Charlotte and giving up a run in one-third of an inning during his season debut, Peralta will now head back to the minors. He'll keep his spot on the White Sox's 40-man roster, though a 7.16 ERA through 16.1 innings at Triple-A doesn't bode well for a return to the big leagues anytime soon.
