The Guardians recalled Kent from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
With Nic Enright (elbow) landing on the injured list, Kent will turn around and rejoin the big-league squad after being demoted to Columbus on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has given up five earned runs through 9.2 innings in the majors this year and will presumably be limited to low-leverage opportunities while with the Guardians.

Kent (elbow) re-signed with the Guardians on a minor-league contract July 16 and was placed on Triple-A Columbus' 7-day injured list a day later.
Kent began the season on the Guardians' 40-man roster and was optioned to Columbus coming out of spring training. He made three appearances with the Triple-A club before landing on the IL on April 19 with a right elbow strain. Kent was never activated before the Guardians designated him for assignment in late June and then ultimately released him, but he's now back with the organization, though he's no longer a member of the 40-man roster. He's still working his way back from the elbow injury, but Kent will take a meaningful step forward Thursday, as he's been cleared to report to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to begin a rehab assignment.

The Guardians acquired Kent from the Rangers on Thursday in exchange for international bonus pool money and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus.
Kent was one of two pitchers Cleveland traded for in advance of Opening Day, with Peter Strzelecki also coming aboard in a deal with Arizona. Though both new arrivals will claim spots on the 40-man roster, neither will join the team for Thursday's season opener in Oakland and will instead be ticketed for Columbus. The 26-year-old Kent, who has yet to make his MLB debut, posted a 3.97 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB in 10 starts at Triple-A Round Rock in 2023, but it's unclear whether or not the Guardians intend to keep him on a starter's development track or move him to the bullpen.

Kent was never a real candidate to break camp with the team, anyway, but he didn't help himself in posting a 12.27 ERA in three Cactus League appearances. The 26-year-old will open 2024 in Round Rock's rotation and hope to debut at some point this year with the Rangers.
