  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Outrighted to Norfolk

Martin cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Martin will officially stick in the Orioles organization after being designated for assignment Tuesday. He'll provide the club with organizational bullpen depth at Norfolk, but after putting up a 5.29 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 32.1 innings in the minors, he's unlikely to get another opportunity with the O's this year.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Cut loose from 40-man

The Orioles designated Martin for assignment Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Martin appeared in 10 games in August, surrendering 14 total runs on 19 hits and five walks across 10.2 innings. He is getting cut loose from the Orioles along with Elvin Rodriguez as Baltimore reinstates both Tyler Wells (elbow) and Jorge Mateo (hamstring) from the 60-day injured list.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Winds up with save

Martin picked up the save during Tuesday's extra-innings win against the Red Sox, pitching a perfect 11th inning.

Martin was the sixth Orioles reliever to pitch in the contest, but an RBI groundout by Samuel Basallo in the top of the 11th frame opened up a save chance for the 29-year-old pitcher. Baltimore's closing job appears to be wide open without Felix Bautista (shoulder), who's out for the season. Keegan Akin has blown his last two save chances and pitched the sixth and seventh innings Tuesday, Yaramil Hiraldo blew a save Tuesday and both Dietrich Enns and Yennier Cano have been shaky lately. Outside of a six-run outing against Philadelphia on Aug. 4, Martin has a 1.54 ERA and 15:5 K:BB across 11.2 innings, which could be enough to earn save chances in the closing weeks of the regular season.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Pummeled for six runs

Martin gave up six runs while failing to record an out in Monday's loss to the Phillies.

Martin notched a save last week against the Blue Jays, thrusting himself into the closer conversation as part of a bullpen that's lost Felix Bautista (shoulder) to injury and Gregory Soto, Seranthony Dominguez and Andrew Kittredge to trades. However, in his two appearances since that save, Martin has entered in the sixth inning both times. He managed to pitch around a couple hits in the first of those outings, but he was not so lucky Monday. The Orioles' bullpen remains unsettled, but it seems unlikely Martin will be entrusted with another save chance anytime soon.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Secures first career save

Martin recorded his first career save in the Orioles' 3-2 win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, walking one and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

With Felix Bautista (shoulder) on the injured list and with Gregory Soto Seranthony Dominguez getting traded in recent days, high-leverage roles are up for grabs in the Baltimore bullpen. Yennier Cano pitched the seventh inning in the Orioles' 16-4 win in the first game of the day, while Andrew Kittredge worked the eighth in the nightcap against the heart of the Blue Jays order before handing the ball over to Martin for the ninth. The 29-year-old right-hander was once a promising starting pitching prospect in the Houston system, but injuries have turned him into something of a journeyman. Martin doesn't quite have elite stuff as a reliever -- his fastball topped out at 97 miles per hour Tuesday, and his slider has a whiff rate of just 16.7 percent this season -- but interim manager Tony Mansolino is apparently willing to give him a look as part of the late-inning mix. Kittredge's usage Tuesday suggests he might be the favorite to handle the bulk of the save chances while Bautista is out, but he also might be the next arm shipped out before Thursday's trade deadline.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Re-ups with O's

The Orioles signed Martin to a one-year major league contract Friday.

Baltimore designated Martin for assignment Sunday, and he elected free agency. However, he'll remain with the Orioles after signing a one-year deal. Martin threw 1.1 scoreless innings in his only big-league appearance this season and logged a 5.29 ERA in 32.1 innings at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Corbin Martin: Elects free agency

Martin cleared waivers Thursday and elected free agency, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Martin pitched 1.1 scoreless frames July 2 in his first major-league appearance since 2022, but he hasn't appeared in a game since then and will now look elsewhere for his next opportunity. The 29-year-old righty owns a 5.29 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 32.1 innings in Triple-A this year, so he's most likely to land with another organization on a minor-league pact.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Dropped from 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Martin for assignment Sunday.

After being called up from Triple-A Norfolk on July 2, Martin tossed 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen later that day but had gone unused since then, and the Orioles opted to swap Martin out of their bullpen for Grant Wolfram. Since Martin has previously been outrighted to the minors, he'll have the ability to elect free agency in the likely event that he clears waivers.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Gets first look in majors since '22

The Orioles selected Martin's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Martin is back in the big leagues for the first time since 2022, when he made seven appearances (two starts) for Arizona. Since undergoing surgery in March 2023 to repair a right lat tendon tear and missing that entire season, Martin has made the full-time move to the bullpen. He owns a 5.29 ERA in 29 appearances at Norfolk this season but was sharp throughout June, permitting just one earned run on three hits and four walks while striking out eight over 10 innings.

Martin cleared waivers and was assigned outright to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Martin was designated for assignment by Baltimore, and after going unclaimed on waivers, he'll remain at Triple-A. The right-hander has struggled to a 7.45 ERA and 2.61 WHIP over 9.2 innings in eight appearances with Norfolk this season.

  • Orioles' Corbin Martin: Scooped up by Baltimore

The Orioles claimed Martin off waivers from the Brewers on Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

Martin missed the 2023 season following lat surgery, and all nine of his 2024 appearances have come at the Triple-A level, where he's posted a 7.20 ERA and 10:13 K:BB over 10 frames. The 28-year-old has previously worked mostly as a starter but has been used exclusively in relief this season.

  • Brewers' Corbin Martin: DFA'd following trade

The Brewers designated Martin for assignment Friday.

If Milwaukee isn't able to find a taker for Martin via trade, he'll go through the waiver process. The transaction clears up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Mitch White, whom the Brewers acquired from the Giants on Friday.

  • Brewers' Corbin Martin: Back down to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Martin to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Martin was called up by the Brewers for Friday's game against the Cubs, though he did not play. He'll head back down to Nashville, where he has given up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five over 4.1 frames. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee recalled left-hander Jared Koenig from Triple-A Nashville.

  • Brewers' Corbin Martin: Summoned to big leagues

The Brewers recalled Martin from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Martin was claimed off waivers from the Diamondbacks last month. The 28-year-old missed the 2023 season following lat surgery and had spent all of 2024 at the Triple-A level, holding a 6.14 ERA and 8:7 K:BB over 7.1 frames. Martin had mostly been a starter in the past but has made a full-time move to relief this season.
