Phillies' Brewer Hicklen: Designated for assignment
The Phillies designated Hicklen for assignment Tuesday.
The Phillies selected Rafael Lantigua to the active roster Tuesday to make up for the loss of Edmundo Sosa (groin), which pushed Hicklen off the 40-man roster. Phillies' Brewer Hicklen: Traded to Phillies
The Tigers traded Hicklen to the Phillies on Saturday in exchange for cash, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
The 29-year-old lost his place on Detroit's 40-man roster Wednesday to make room for Troy Melton, but Hicklen will reclaim a 40-man roster spot with his new club. He'll remain in Triple-A, however, where he's slashed .227/.335/.394 across 254 plate appearances.

Tigers' Brewer Hicklen: Dropped from 40-man roster
The Tigers designated Hicklen for assignment Wednesday.
He will give up his spot on the 40-man roster to right-hander Troy Melton, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Toledo ahead of his first MLB start Wednesday against the Pirates. The 29-year-old outfielder appeared in one game for Detroit in May but has otherwise spent the bulk of the 2025 campaign at Toledo, slashing .227/.335/.394 with eight home runs and 18 stolen bases over 254 plate appearances.

Tigers' Brewer Hicklen: Rejoins Toledo lineup
Hicklen (hamstring) was assigned to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday and started in right field in the club's 10-5 win over Louisville, going 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs.
Hicklen returned to action for Toledo for the first time since May 11, after a tight hamstring kept him out of commission for a couple of weeks. Though he was never placed on the 7-day injured list, Hicklen was assigned to High-A West Michigan over the weekend for what essentially amounted to a rehab assignment. Hicklen received the green light to rejoin Toledo after playing in two games for West Michigan.

Hicklen was transferred from Triple-A Toledo to High-A West Michigan on Saturday while working through hamstring tightness, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.

Tigers' Brewer Hicklen: Two hits, steal in Game 2 win
Hicklen went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in an 11-1 win over the Rockies in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.
The hits were Hicklen's first as a big leaguer, with this being his 10th game in the majors over parts of three seasons. This was his Tigers debut after he failed to appear in a game during a brief stint in the majors in April. The Tigers are dealing with injuries in the outfield, but it's unclear if Hicklen will get a longer look. He started in center field in the nightcap of Thursday's doubleheader, but that's been where Javier Baez has been playing -- and excelling -- in recent weeks.

Tigers' Brewer Hicklen: Back in big leagues
The Tigers recalled Hicklen from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.
Hicklen didn't appear in a game during his last stint with the big-league club in April, but he'll get an opportunity to make his season debut in center field during the second game of Thursday's twin bill against Colorado. The 29-year-old has slashed .242/.368/.305 through 114 plate appearances in Triple-A and remains in search of his first career major-league hit.

Tigers' Brewer Hicklen: Moving up to majors
The Tigers recalled Hicklen from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
Hicklen will provide the Tigers with an extra right-handed bat off the bench with Detroit placing Manuel Margot (knee) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. The 29-year-old Hicklen has logged just nine total plate appearances in the majors but was a standout performer at the Triple-A level for the Brewers' affiliate in Nashville in 2024, slashing .246/.363/.470 with 22 home runs and 44 stolen bases in 499 plate appearances. Hicklen could serve as a short-side platoon outfielder while he's up with the Tigers.

Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Sent to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Hicklen to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
Hicklen appeared in 11 Cactus League games, going 4-for-20 with two doubles and eight strikeouts. He's played in nine big-league games since debuting in 2022 and isn't likely to see significant big-league action this year given Milwaukee's outfield depth.

Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Gets call-up from Triple-A
The Brewers recalled Hicklen from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
Signed to a minor-league deal over the winter, Hicklen received a spot on Milwaukee's 40-man roster over the All-Star break after he got off to a hot start to the season at Triple-A. The 28-year-old outfielder's production has slowed in the second half, but he still slashed .247/.364/.484 with 21 home runs and 42 stolen bases over 105 games with Nashville to earn the promotion to Milwaukee in September. The right-handed Hicklen will be put to work right away, as he'll start in right field and bat fifth while the Reds send southpaw Brandon Williamson to the hill. Hicklen could end up settling in as a regular platoon mate for the left-handed-hitting Sal Frelick in right.

Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Added to 40-man roster
The Brewers selected Hicklen's contract and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Though he won't receive a promotion to the big leagues coming out of the All-Star break, Hicklen's addition to Milwaukee's 40-man roster at least removes a potential obstacle in him getting a call-up at a later date. The 28-year-old outfielder has been one of the top performers at Nashville this season, slashing .270/.383/.571 with 19 home runs and 26 stolen bases across 313 plate appearances.

Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Receives NRI from Brewers
Hicklen signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
He's been given an invitation to spring training as part of the deal. Hicklen received a cup of coffee in the majors with the Royals in 2022 but spent all of 2023 at the Triple-A level between the Kansas City and Philadelphia organizations, posting an .804 OPS. He'll compete for a reserve outfielder job this spring but is likely headed to Triple-A Nashville.

Phillies' Brewer Hicklen: Lands in Philly organization
The Phillies acquired Hicklen from the Royals on Wednesday.
Hicklen, 27, had a cup of coffee with Kansas City last season but has spent all of 2023 at Triple-A Omaha, posting a .789 OPS with eight home runs and 15 stolen bases in 61 games. He wasn't a member of Kansas City's 40-man roster and will serve as organizational depth as he moves to Philadelphia.

Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Overcomes elbow injury
Hicklen (elbow) has appeared in six games and has gone 3-for-18 with two doubles and a 3:8 BB:K since being activated from Triple-A Omaha's 7-day injured list April 25.
Hicklen missed just under a month of game action for Omaha due to the right elbow strain he suffered at some point during the offseason. The 27-year-old outfielder received a brief cameo in the majors with Kansas City last season, but he no longer possesses a spot on the 40-man roster and will face an uphill battle to make it back to the big leagues.
