Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Picks up 27th hold
Estrada earned a hold against Seattle on Tuesday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in one inning.
Estrada entered in a very high-leverage situation, taking the mound with San Diego up by one run the eighth inning. The right-hander allowed a leadoff single but nothing more, getting out of the frame with the lead intact. Mason Miller was used one inning before Estrada, but that doesn't necessarily reflect the Padres' bullpen hierarchy, as Miller was summoned to face the heart of Seattle's order. Nonetheless, Estrada continues to be a trusted late-inning option for San Diego -- he has a career-high 27 holds on the campaign, tied for fourth most in the majors.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Snags third save
Estrada struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Phillies.
Estrada was one of four San Diego relievers to have pitched three of the previous four days, but he was apparently deemed good to go for a save chance Saturday. Usual closer Robert Suarez had also seen a similar workload and was held back from pitching in this contest. Estrada is now second on the team with three saves, though he's no threat to Suarez's closer role, as he's instead functioned as a setup man throughout the year. Overall, Estrada has a 2.93 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 60:16 K:BB while adding 21 holds and three blown saves across 43 innings.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Has rough outing Tuesday
Estrada (2-4) took the loss against the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing five runs on five hits without retiring any batters.
When Estrada entered in the sixth inning, the game was tied 3-3. The right-hander gave up a single to the first batter he faced and was then tagged for a two-run homer by Will Smith. Estrada gave up three consecutive singles following the long ball and was pulled without having recorded an out. He's yielded seven runs over 1.2 innings across his past three outings, pushing his season ERA from 2.08 up to 3.94.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Secures second save
Estrada pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Giants.
Top relievers Robert Suarez, Jason Adam and Adrian Morejon had all pitched the previous two days, allowing Estrada a chance to convert his second save of the season. He's earned both of his saves a week apart while also functioning as a setup man when the Padres' bullpen is fresher. Estrada is at a 2.36 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 40:9 K:BB across 26.2 innings this season, and he's added 11 holds. While he doesn't have much of a chance at steady save opportunities, his high strikeout rate makes him a viable option in some fantasy formats.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Grabs four-out save
Estrada allowed a hit and struck out two over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Marlins.
The Padres' bullpen was a little thin, as all of Robert Suarez, Jason Adam and Adrian Morejon had pitched Sunday and Monday. Estrada took care of business in a rare chance to close out a game, earning his first save of the season to go with 10 holds and two blown saves. He's had a bit of a bumpy stretch in May, allowing five runs (three earned) over 6.2 innings across his last eight appearances. Overall, he has a 2.59 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings this season, making him a trusted part of the setup crew.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Blows save in 11th frame
Estrada (1-3) was charged with the loss and a blown save Thursday against Toronto, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk while retiring one batter in the 11th inning.
Estrada didn't get the Padres' first save opportunity of the game -- that went to closer Robert Suarez, who allowed the Blue Jays' automatic runner to score in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game. After San Diego posted a run in the 11th, Estrada came in and gave up a game-tying triple on his second pitch, before Nathan Lukes singled home the winning run for Toronto. Estrada has just one save in his career, but he's been effective in a high-leverage role for the Padres as he ranks second on the team with nine holds while compiling a 2.86 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 33:6 K:BB over 22 frames on the season.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Collects fourth hold
Estrada walked one and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning Saturday against Colorado to earn a hold.
Estrada handled the seventh inning after starter Kyle Hart gave San Diego six scoreless frames. The righty reliever walked the first batter he faced but subsequently induced a double-play grounder before ending the frame with a strikeout. Estrada has had an excellent start to the campaign, allowing just one run through 8.1 innings while posting a 10:3 K:BB.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Sailing through smooth spring
Estrada has pitched 4.2 innings during the Cactus League slate, allowing one run on two hits while posting a 6:1 K:BB.
Estrada broke through last season with a 2.95 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 16 holds and a 37.3 percent strikeout rate over 61 regular-season innings during his first season in San Diego. He's primed for a high-leverage role during the coming campaign and will likely open the season helping to set up closer Robert Suarez. Though Suarez has had a rough spring, allowing eight runs over 3.2 frames, he's probably earned a long enough leash to keep hold of the ninth-inning role come Opening Day. However, should Suarez's struggles carry over into the regular season, Estrada would be among the top options to take over in save situations.

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Notches 12th hold
Estrada allowed one hit in a scoreless inning to notch a hold against the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Estrada handled the seventh inning and needed just eight pitches to retire the side despite giving up a one-out single. The right-hander hadn't picked up a hold since July 26 prior to Tuesday, and he's had a somewhat rough August with a 6.23 ERA and 1.85 WHIP over 10 appearances, though he's also posted a 17:5 K:BB across just 8.2 frames during that span.
