  • David Banuelos: Becomes free agent

Banuelos elected free agency Monday. Banuelos spent the majority of his 2025 campaign at Triple-A Norfolk, where he struggled to a .107 average with one home run, two RBI and four runs scored in 21 games. He'll search for a better fit elsewhere following Monday's transaction.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Orioles outrighted Banuelos to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. Banuelos was added to the Orioles' 26-man active roster for Sunday's game against the Marlins and struck out in his lone plate appearance. He's now been removed from the 40-man roster and has accepted an outright assignment to Norfolk, where he will provide catching depth.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Called up Sunday

The Orioles recalled Banuelos from Triple-A Norfolk ahead of Sunday's game against the Marlins. Banuelos will provide Baltimore with some extra catching depth for the final game of the season's first half. He went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance for the Orioles when he was up with the big club for a doubleheader with the Mets on Thursday.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Sent packing from MLB camp

The Orioles reassigned Banuelos to minor-league camp Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Banuelos will likely serve as organizational catching depth at Triple-A Norfolk during the upcoming season. The 28-year-old was briefly part of the Orioles' 40-man roster in 2024 and made his MLB debut in April, logging one plate appearance.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Outrighted to Norfolk

Banuelos was sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Banuelos was DFA'd by Baltimore on Monday -- just a day after his contract was selected from Triple-A -- and he'll elect to remain with the organization after clearing waivers. The 27-year-old backstop has slashed .225/.360/.352 across 86 plate appearances in the minors this season.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Removed from 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Banuelos for assignment Monday. Banuelos had just been recalled Sunday when rosters expanded. However, the Orioles have decided it was more important for them to have infield protection in the form of Nick Maton -- whose contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk -- than a third catcher in Banuelos.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Sent to Triple-A

The Orioles optioned Banuelos to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. The 27-year-old had his contract selected by Baltimore on Monday but was only with the big club one day, as prospect Heston Kjerstad was promoted Tuesday. Banuelos isn't likely to receive another look with the Orioles if Adley Rutschman and James McCann stay healthy.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Joins major-league roster

Banuelos had his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk by the Orioles on Monday. Banuelos was optioned outright to Norfolk on Friday after clearing waivers, but he'll now return to the big-league roster. The catcher appeared in the team's 11-3 win over the Twins on April 16, failing to get on base in his only at-bat of the season. He'll replace Austin Hays (calf) on Baltimore's roster after Hays was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, while outfielder Peyton Burdick was designated for assignment, opening a spot on the 40-man roster for Banuelos.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Selected from Triple-A

The Orioles selected Banuelos' contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. Banuelos will give the Orioles additional depth behind the plate, though he isn't expected to see much playing time behind Adley Rutschman and James McCann. He's appeared in just two games at Triple-A this year, going 3-for-11 with a home run and two RBI, and he will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game. Tyler Wells (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move, and Livan Soto was designated for assignment in order to clear space on the 40-man roster.

  • Orioles' David Banuelos: Signs minors contract with O's

Banuelos signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Banuelos is 27 years old and has yet to make his MLB debut, but he posted an encouraging .896 OPS with 10 home runs and 30 RBI over 48 games last season with the Double-A affiliate of the Twins. He'll function as organizational depth at catcher for the O's.

  • Twins' David Banuelos: Sent to minor-league camp

The Twins reassigned Banuelos to minor-league camp Thursday. Banuelos didn't receive much of an opportunity in spring training this year, collecting one hit in just eight at-bats. It would likely take multiple big-league injuries at catcher for Banuelos, who has never hit well in the minors and has yet to make his major-league debut, to see action for Minnesota.
