  • Blue Jays' Robinson Pina: Recalled, placed on 60-day IL

The Blue Jays recalled Pina from Triple-A Buffalo and placed him on the 60-day injured list Tuesday with a right elbow UCL sprain. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Ryan Borucki. Pina hasn't pitched since the beginning of August and will not return this season, although at this point it appears he will not have surgery.

  • Blue Jays' Robinson Pina: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Blue Jays optioned Pina to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday. Pina had been with the big club for more than two weeks but made only one appearance during that time, allowing three runs (one earned) over 1.1 innings. Lefty Mason Fluharty was recalled from Triple-A to take Pina's spot in the bullpen.

  • Marlins' Robinson Pina: Designated for assignment

The Marlins designated Pina for assignment Saturday. Pina made his MLB debut Friday, pitching one inning and allowing a solo home run. He'll now be pushed off the 40-man roster in favor of Josh Simpson, though it's possible Pina gets picked up off waivers after posting a 3.47 ERA through 57 Triple-A frames.

  • Marlins' Robinson Pina: Officially promoted

The Marlins selected Pina's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday. After turning in a 3.47 ERA and 1.18 WHIP through 57 innings in Triple-A, Pina will now get a chance to prove himself worthy of a place in the Marlins' bullpen, which currently owns a 4.53 ERA on the year. Adam Mazur was optioned to Jacksonville to create a spot on the active roster for Pina, and Connor Gillispie was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man.

  • Marlins' Robinson Pina: Expected to be called up

The Marlins are expected to call up Pina from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to Thursday's game against the Phillies, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. Pina has made 11 starts and two relief appearances with Jacksonville this season, posting a 3.47 ERA and 54:15 K:BB over 57 innings. The 26-year-old appears poised for a long relief role and will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game.

  • Marlins' Robinson Pina: Invited to big-league camp

Pina signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports. Pina spent most of his time last season with the Phillies' Double-A affiliate, where he logged a 4.27 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 103.1 innings. The 25-year-old's chances of pitching for the Marlins are slim, though changing organizations could allow him to move up to Triple-A in 2025.

  • Angels' Robinson Pina: Dominating in High-A ball

Pina is 5-3 with one save while posting a 2.66 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 87:19 K:BB over 61 innings with High-A Tri-City. He's made 14 appearances, nine of which have been starts. The Angels decided to have Pina step back to High-A ball this season after he struggled in his first taste of Double-A in 2021. The results have been fantastic, as the 23-year-old has registered a 2.35 FIP while working mostly as a starter. Pina had a 14-strikeout game May 27 against Eugene and nearly matched that with 13 punchouts against the same opponent June 23. One of the keys to the right-hander's success this season is better control -- his 2.8 BB/9 is well below his career minor-league mark. Pina has a good chance of moving back up to Double-A Rocket City soon if he continues to dominate at his current level.
