White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Homers in third straight
Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Twins.
Montgomery contributed to an early offensive barrage for the White Sox, as his home run came in the second inning and put the team up 7-0. He homered in all three games against the Twins over the weekend, giving him 13 long balls across his first 160 plate appearances in the majors. While his power is prodigious, Montgomery's inability to make consistent contact has persisted, potentially jeopardizing his production in the long term.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Belts grand slam vs. Minnesota
Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a grand slam during Saturday's 7-3 win over the Twins.
Montgomery put the exclamation point on the White Sox's six-run second inning when he cleared the bases on a 412-foot blast to right-center field. Saturday marked Montgomery's eighth multi-hit game of the season, and he's hit home runs in consecutive games on six occasions this season, including two instances in which he's homered in three straight games. He now has a .229/.288/.528 slash line with 12 homers and 34 RBI across 156 plate appearances this season.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Showcases power Friday
Montgomery went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Saturday against the Twins.
Montgomery has showcased his power consistently for the last month, with all 11 of his home runs coming in his last 26 starts. After a one-game absence earlier in the week due to side soreness, Montgomery has returned to start a pair of consecutive games and should be a mainstay in the White Sox's lineup moving forward.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Checking back into starting nine
Montgomery (side) will start at shortstop and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Montgomery was held out of Tuesday's 11-10 loss after exiting in the series opener a night earlier due to a sore left side, but he appears to have made enough improvement following the day off to rejoin the lineup for the finale in Atlanta. After starting at shortstop in Montgomery's stead Tuesday, Chase Meidroth will retreat to the bench.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Sitting out with side issue
Montgomery (side) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Atlanta.
Montgomery had to be pulled from Monday's contest with soreness in his left side. The White Sox are referring to him as day-to-day for the time being, but it's the type of injury that could wind up requiring a stint on the injured list. Chase Meidroth will play shortstop and bat ninth Tuesday.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Departs with side injury
Montgomery left Monday's game against Atlanta with left side soreness.
Montgomery can be tagged as day-to-day until the team has more information on the extent of the injury. If he needs to be shut down, look for Brooks Baldwin to see opportunities at shortstop. After the game, Montgomery stated "I just took a swing on a foul ball and I kind of felt a little bit of a stretch. But I mean nothing crazy or anything like that. Got on first and they saw I was feeling for it and they asked me if I felt something and I was like yeah, but nothing too serious," per Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Continues to showcase power stroke
Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 2-1 loss to Detroit.
Montgomery lifted his 10th homer of the season, and he's now tallied one extra-base hit in three of his last four games. The rookie infielder has quickly grabbed the attention of fantasy managers since being promoted to the major leagues -- Montgomery is slashing an effective .241/.311/.565 with three doubles, one triple, 26 RBI and 16 runs scored over his first 120 plate appearances. After bouncing around the bottom part of Chicago's lineup, Montgomery has hit fifth in eight of his last nine outings.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Pops ninth home run
Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Guardians.
Montgomery was out of the lineup Saturday but returned to smack a solo home run in his first at-bat of the day Sunday. He continues to showcase a boom-or-bust approach at the plate, tallying nine home runs across his last 16 starts while also striking out multiple times on five occasions in that span. Montgomery's lack of ability to make consistent contact could ultimately catch up to him, but he's an elite source of power for the time being.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Not in Saturday's lineup
Montgomery is absent from Saturday's starting lineup against the Guardians.
Montgomery will be on the bench for the beginning of Saturday's AL Central game while Jacob Amaya starts at shortstop and bats eighth. Over his last 10 games, Montgomery has gone 8-for-39 (.205) with five home runs and 11 RBI.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Smacks eighth homer
Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Mariners.
All eight of those homers have come over his last 12 games dating back to July 22 versus the Rays. The infield prospect struggled a bit initially when he joined the major-league roster, but he's taken little time to find a groove. He's now batting .256 and slugging .567 with 24 RBI, 12 runs scored and no stolen bases across his first 26 contests. Montgomery has helped fill in for Chase Meidroth (thumb) at shortstop, but there should be room for Montgomery in the lineup on a near-everyday basis even when the White Sox have a fully healthy infield.
