McGreevy (5-2) got the win over Miami on Tuesday, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits while not walking a batter. He struck out five.

McGreevy blanked the Marlins through three frames but gave up a pair of runs in the fourth and then again in the sixth but still exited in line for the win with the Cardinals leading 6-4. He tied his season high with five strikeouts and did not walk a batter for a second consecutive start. McGreevy has also reached six innings in four straight starts, though he's given up three or more runs in three of those. He lines up for a two-start week next week, beginning with a home start against the Pirates.

Despite the shaky finish, the 25-year-old McGreevy has now made it through six innings in each of his last three outings and has two straight quality starts. His ERA sits at 4.41 through 51 innings with a 1.22 WHIP and 28:7 K:BB. McGreevy's currently scheduled to face the Marlins on the road in his next start.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Blanks Cubs for fourth win

McGreevy (4-2) picked up the win in Friday's 5-0 victory over the Cubs, allowing six hits and a walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out three.

The 25-year-old righty put together his best performance of the season, firing first-pitch strikes to 19 of the 25 batters he faced and not giving up any extra-base hits while producing his second quality start on 87 pitches (54 total strikes). Since moving into the rotation on a full-time basis following the All-Star break, McGreevy has delivered two good outings and one poor one, and the overall results are a 4.56 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB over 23.2 innings. He'll look to build on Friday's effort in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Rockies.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Picks up third win

McGreevy (3-2) earned the win Saturday in San Diego after giving up four runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander surrendered runs in each of the first three frames to put St. Louis in a 4-0 hole, but he bounced back with three scoreless innings while the Cardinals offense rallied for six runs across the fifth and sixth innings. It was the third straight turn through the rotation for McGreevy, who should continue to get an extended look with the Cardinals down the stretch. In seven appearances (six starts) this season, he has a 5.08 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB over 39 innings.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Coughs up seven runs in defeat

McGreevy (2-2) suffered the loss Sunday against the Padres, allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.2 innings with two strikeouts.

After some shaky defense behind him in a first inning that saw two San Diego runs score on two hits, a walk and an error, McGreevy was never able to fully right the ship in this contest. The St. Louis right-hander wound up conceding a career-worst nine base knocks (three doubles and six singles) in this 99-pitch outing. Across 33 total frames, he now sports a 4.91 ERA, 3.27 FIP, 1.21 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB. The 25-year-old is currently slated to face the Padres again in his next start on the road next weekend.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Staying in St. Louis rotation

McGreevy will remain in the Cardinals' rotation and start Sunday against the Padres, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Erick Fedde has been designated for assignment, officially clearing a spot in the St. Louis rotation. McGreevy is due for a long-term opportunity at the major-league level, having posted a 2.81 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 35:5 K:BB over 51.1 innings covering seven starts and two relief appearances with the Cardinals since last season. The 25-year-old has put up a 3.72 ERA and 78:15 K:BB over 75 frames this year at Triple-A Memphis. McGreevy is worth scooping up in deeper fantasy leagues where he's available.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Expected to pitch during homestand

McGreevy is expected to pitch again for the Cardinals during their upcoming homestand, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The Cardinals are still finalizing their upcoming pitching plans, but McGreevy appears likely to draw a start this weekend against the Padres. The rookie right-hander went seven innings and allowed just two runs Monday in Colorado and has posted a 3.81 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB over 28.1 innings spanning five outings (four starts) with St. Louis in 2025. McGreevy could take the rotation spot currently occupied by Erick Fedde, who has struggled mightily.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Shines with seven frames Monday

McGreevy (2-1) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out one batter over seven innings.

McGreevy was promoted from Triple-A Memphis on Monday afternoon in order to notch his first big-league start in nearly a month. The right-hander didn't overpower the Rockies -- he notched just five whiffs and one punchout -- but gave St. Louis plenty of length, completing seven frames on an efficient 91 pitches. McGreevy has held his own when given opportunities with the major-league club this season, posting a 3.81 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB over 28.1 innings spanning five outings (four starts). Monday's appearance was likely more than just a spot start, and McGreevy lines up to get another turn in the rotation this weekend versus San Diego.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Recalled ahead of Monday's start

The Cardinals recalled McGreevy from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

McGreevy is lined up to start Monday's series opener against the Rockies. The Cardinals are expected to keep McGreevy in the rotation for an extended look this time around, as he's starting in place of Matthew Liberatore this week. The Cardinals are skipping Liberatore's turn in the rotation since he's on pace to blow past his previous career high in innings pitched. McGreevy (1-1) sports a 4.22 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB across 21.1 innings pitched at the MLB level this season.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Set to start Monday

McGreevy will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis to start Monday against the Rockies, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

It was reported in early July that the Cardinals were considering promoting the right-hander to replace Erick Fedde in the starting rotation, but McGreevy will instead fill the rotation spot of Matthew Liberatore, who is having his start skipped for workload considerations. McGreevy has a 4.22 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB over 21.1 frames in the majors this season. He's likely to receive an extended look in the rotation at some point down the stretch, but it remains to be seen if Monday's outing will be a spot start or the beginning of a longer audition.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Might take Fedde's spot in rotation

The Cardinals are having "internal discussion" about McGreevy replacing Erick Fedde in the rotation and starting Saturday against Atlanta, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Fedde has been pummeled for 17 runs over his last three starts and lasted only 1.1 frames in Sunday's loss to the Cubs. The team is expected to use its off day Monday to decide whether to let Fedde take his next turn Saturday or give that opportunity to McGreevy instead. McGreevy also started Sunday at Triple-A Memphis, so he is on the same schedule as Fedde, though he was torched for eight runs over three innings in Sunday's outing. In three starts and one relief appearance with the Cardinals in 2025, McGreevy holds a 4.22 ERA and 16:3 K:BB over 21.1 innings.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Notches no-decision Tuesday

McGreevy didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs, giving up five runs on seven hits and one walk in 4.2 innings. He struck out one.

The 24-year-old right-hander wasn't at his best against a tough Cubs lineup, conceding a season-high five runs. It was also the shortest outing of the season for McGreevy, who fanned fewer than five for the first time in his four appearances. McGreevy's next turn in the Cardinals' rotation is tentatively slated for next week in Pittsburgh against the last-place Pirates, although it's possible Tuesday was only a spot start. He owns a serviceable 4.22 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB through his first 21.1 innings this season.
