Guzman hit the second of two Angels homers in the second inning, going 415 feet deep to left field. It was his second home run (and fourth overall hit) through six games as a pro. Though he's shown good pop during his short time in the majors, Guzman has also struck out in a whopping 12 of his 20 plate appearances.

The Angels selected Guzman's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.
Guzman has played both shortstop and third base in the minors this season and has slashed .247/.343/.769 with 17 home runs, 74 RBI and 14 stolen bases across 129 games between Double-A and Triple-A. Zach Neto (hand) remains out of the Angels' lineup Saturday, so Guzman is starting at shortstop and batting seventh for what will be his MLB debut, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. Los Angeles also promoted infielder Christian Moore from the minors Saturday while designating infielder Scott Kingery for assignment. Outfielder Matthew Lugo was also optioned to Salt Lake in a move that helped make room on the 26-man roster for Guzman and Moore.

Guzman has gone 1-for-7 with three walks and five strikeouts in two games for Single-A Inland Empire since receiving a promotion Thursday from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
Signed for $2 million out of the Dominican Republic in January 2021, the 18-year-old infielder didn't make his professional debut until June, when ACL play began. He earned the bump up to a full-season affiliate after slashing .286/.341/.422 with a 7.2 percent walk rate in 211 plate appearances in rookie ball.
