  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Torments Yamamoto again

Tovar went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run in a 4-3 win against the Dodgers on Monday.

Tovar had both of the Rockies' extra-base hits -- a seventh-inning homer that tied the score and a ninth-inning pop-fly double that led to him crossing the plate with the winning run one batter later. The long ball came against Dodgers All-Star hurler Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who Tovar has pestered to the tune of a 7-for-10 line and two home runs in their head-to-head matchups. Tovar also snapped a 19-game homerless stretch Monday, though he hit well enough with a .276 average and eight doubles during that span.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Getting breather Friday

Tovar is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Tovar's streak of 15 straight starts at shortstop will come to an end Friday. He's yielding to Ryan Ritter, who was just activated from the injured list. During that 15-game stretch, Tovar went 18-for-61 (.295) with eight doubles and two stolen bases.

Tovar went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.

He's up to five multi-hit efforts in August, batting .405 (15-for-37) over nine contests this month. The shortstop is up to a .284/.324/.468 slash line with six home runs, four stolen bases, 20 RBI and 29 runs scored over 216 plate appearances. His .792 OPS is the highest it has been since May 26.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Notches steal in loss

Tovar went 2-for-4 with a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.

This was Tovar's fourth multi-hit effort over eight games in August. He's now batting .364 (12-for-33) for the month while adding six doubles, five RBI and two steals. Overall, the shortstop appears to be settling in nicely during the second half after an injury-plagued first three months of the season. He's now slashing .274/.316/.452 with six homers, 20 RBI, 27 runs scored and four steals over 50 contests in 2025.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Knocks four doubles in win

Tovar went 4-for-6 with four doubles, two runs scored and two RBI during Friday's 17-16 win over the Pirates.

Tovar snapped a couple of long streaks in a big way during Friday's comeback victory. First, he had his first multi-hit game in nine outings. Second, the 24-year-old had his first game with multiple extra-base hits since May 17. He entered the game with just seven doubles in 42 games before bringing his total to 11 by night's end. The Colorado shortstop is now slashing .268/.309/.458 on the year.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Stepping out of starting nine

Tovar is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Orlando Arcia will get the nod at shortstop while Tovar retreats to the bench in what appears to be a routine day off for the series opener in Cleveland. Tovar had started in each of the Rockies' previous six games, going 4-for-20 with two solo home runs, two walks and two additional runs.

Tovar led off the eighth inning with a solo home run, his fifth long ball of the season. It's a small sample since he returned from the injured list July 18, but Tovar has at least one hit in four of five games to go along with two homers, four RBI and four runs scored.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Taking seat Sunday

Tovar is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus Minnesota.

After being activated off the injured list Friday, Tovar started Colorado's first two games out of the break, going 4-for-8 with a home run, two runs and three RBI. The talented young shortstop will get a breather Sunday, with Orlando Arcia getting the nod in his place.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Goes yard in three-hit effort

Tovar went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 10-6 win over the Twins.

Tovar lost most of the first half of the season to hip and oblique injuries, which has made it tough for him to get in a rhythm. He's now 4-for-8 across two games after being activated off the injured list for the start of the second half. The shortstop is batting .272 with a .747 OPS, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored and two stolen bases across 146 plate appearances this season and should settle into a starting role as long as he can stay healthy.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Hits fifth in return

Tovar went 1-for-4 against the Twins on Friday.

Tovar had been sidelined since early June with an oblique strain but returned to hit fifth in the order. That was a departure from earlier in the season, when he primarily hit second in the lineup. With all three of Tyler Freeman, Mickey Moniak and Jordan Beck hitting relatively well, Tovar could stay in the middle of the order for the foreseeable future.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Activated Friday

Tovar (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game against the Twins.

Tovar, who also missed time with a hip injury earlier this year, hit .120 with zero extra-base hits, zero walks and six strikeouts in six rehab games in the Pacific Coast League. While he struggled on his rehab assignment and hasn't gotten going at the plate in the majors either (.708 OPS, three homers in 32 games), Tovar is set for three games in Coors Field this weekend, so he's a solid option in most formats.
