Red Sox's Dustin May: Takes ninth loss
May (7-9) took the loss Monday, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings against Baltimore. He struck out five.
May worked around traffic to post six solid innings Monday, but Boston's offense didn't heat up until too late in the loss. Since joining the Red Sox, the right-hander has gone 1-2 with a 2.87 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 15.2 innings in three starts.

Red Sox's Dustin May: Blanks Astros
May (7-8) picked up the win Tuesday against Houston, allowing five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over six scoreless innings.
May notched his first win with the Red Sox after yielding three runs in 3.2 innings during his Boston debut last week. Tuesday's outing marked May's third scoreless start of the campaign, and he fell one strikeout short of tying his season high. In 113.2 innings this season, May has a 4.67 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 109:45 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Orioles his next time out.

Red Sox's Dustin May: Labors in Red Sox debut
May (6-8) took the loss Wednesday against the Royals, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in 3.2 innings. He struck out four.
Kansas City made May work, as the hurler was unable to make it through four innings despite throwing 91 pitches. Wednesday represented the shortest outing of the season for May, who has worked at least five frames on just two occasions over his last six starts. The 27-year-old right-hander holds a lackluster 4.93 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 101:44 K:BB across a career-high 107.2 innings, and he'll likely remain a volatile fantasy option in Houston against the first-place Astros his next time out.

Red Sox's Dustin May: Team debut pushed to Wednesday
May is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Royals at Fenway Park in what will be his Red Sox debut.
Boston had previously listed May as its scheduled starter for Sunday's game against the Astros, but the right-hander will instead have to wait a few more days beyond that to make his team debut. Lucas Giolito is now slated to take the hill for the Red Sox's final contest of the weekend series with Houston.

Red Sox's Dustin May: Making team debut Sunday
The Red Sox list May as their probable starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Astros at Fenway Park.
Acquired from the Dodgers on Thursday, May won't have to wait long to make his Boston debut. Prior to being traded, May was in line to move to the Los Angeles bullpen, but he should have a clearer path to a permanent rotation spot in Boston, as he'll likely take over as the club's new No. 5 starter after Cooper Criswell makes what's expected to be a spot start Friday. Over 19 appearances (18 starts) with the Dodgers this season, May posted a 4.85 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 97:43 K:BB in 104 innings.

Red Sox's Dustin May: Joining Boston
The Red Sox acquired May from the Dodgers on Thursday in exchange for outfielders James Tibbs and Zach Ehrhard, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
After logging a 4.85 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 104 innings in his first 19 appearances with Los Angeles this season after missing all of 2024 while recovering from flexor tendon and UCL revision surgery as well as a separate surgery to address an esophageal tear, May will be sent across the country to join the Red Sox. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that the team planned to move May into the bullpen, though the 27-year-old righty is likely to work as a starter with the Red Sox, who have seen the back end of their rotation get hit hard by injuries.

Dodgers' Dustin May: Shifting to relief
Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that May will work out of the bullpen going forward and will be available as a multi-inning reliever Friday against the Rays, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The right-hander worked behind Shohei Ohtani as a bulk reliever last week and will now be making the full shift to the bullpen. May has otherwise exclusively worked as a traditional starter this season, and his performance in his first year back from flexor tendon and UCL revision surgery has been underwhelming with a 4.85 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 97:43 K:BB across 104 innings.
