Dodgers' Alex Call: Knocks four hits
Call went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.
Call entered Tuesday's game 4-for-23 (.174) since joining the Dodgers, but he doubled that hit total with a big performance. He drilled a solo homer in the second inning, followed by an RBI single and another run scored in the third. He added a double in the fifth before capping off his night with a single in the seventh. Call is now slashing .276/.371/.396 with 17 extra-base hits and 37 runs through 270 plate appearances this season.

Dodgers' Alex Call: Moving west
The Dodgers acquired Call from the Nationals on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Call, who is a bit of a late boomer at 30 years old, has been solid in 2025 with a .274/.371/.386 slash line across 197 at-bats. The outfielder joins the Dodgers after Los Angeles dealt James Outman to the Twins. With a .802 OPS against southpaws, Call can factor into the Dodgers' starting lineup against lefties.

Nationals' Alex Call: On base three times in win
Call went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Twins.
Getting the start in center field in place of Jacob Young (finger) and batting sixth, Call broke the game open in the fifth inning with a bases-loaded single against a drawn-in infield that deflected off the mound and over Minnesota second baseman Brooks Lee. Call has four hits and five RBI in the last two contests, but that big weekend comes on the heels of an 0-for-13 stretch since July 11. Young isn't expected to miss much time, but Call should continue to start in his absence.

Nationals' Alex Call: Three RBI off bench
Call went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and one additional run scored in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Twins.
He was originally set to sit Saturday but entered in the third inning after Jacob Young (finger) exited. Call went on to drive in three runs, highlighted by his third home run of the season in the seventh inning. While the outfielder hasn't shown much power this year (.392 SLG), he's been effective overall, posting a .275 batting average and .372 OBP over 70 games. His counting stats -- nine doubles, three homers, two triples and 24 RBI -- are modest, but his 114 wRC+ entering the contest reflects above-average offensive production.

Nationals' Alex Call: Another three-hit effort
Call went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Tigers.
The 30-year-old outfielder is thriving in a short-side platoon role, banging out three hits in each of his last two starts. Call is slashing .294/.389/.405 on the season in 59 games with two homers, one steal, 20 RBI and 27 runs, but his workload seems unlikely to increase any time soon -- Daylen Lile has a 10-game hitting streak going on the strong side of the platoon with Call, and Dylan Crews (oblique) is expected back from the IL before the end of July.

Nationals' Alex Call: Losing work to Lile
Call is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Despite providing an .853 OPS over a stretch of 12 consecutive starts from June 4 through Monday, Call looks like he'll have to settle for a fourth outfielder role after the Nationals recalled Daylen Lile from Triple-A Rochester earlier this week. Lile will draw a second straight start in right field against a right-handed starting pitcher (German Marquez), while the right-handed-hitting Call has been on the bench for both of those contests. Lile and Call could end up operating in a platoon at the position until Dylan Crews (oblique) is cleared to return from the injured list.

Nationals' Alex Call: Taking seat Tuesday
Call is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.
Call had started each of the previous 12 games but will take a seat Tuesday. It's possible he will see a dip in playing time in favor of Daylen Lile, who was recalled Monday and will now draw a second straight start in right field.

Nationals' Alex Call: Moving into full-time role
Call will start in right field and bat sixth in Thursday's game against the Mets.
Call will be making his eighth consecutive start Thursday after going 7-for-20 with a pair of solo home runs and a walk over the previous seven contests. The return of Jacob Young from the injured list last Friday seemed as though it would put Call at risk of losing out on playing time, but Call has instead remained a fixture in the lineup against both righties and lefties, while Young has made all three of his starts versus southpaws over the Nationals' six games since he was activated. Call remains likely to see his role get downsized once Dylan Crews (oblique) is activated, though Crews' return doesn't seem to be imminent.

Nationals' Alex Call: Goes yard again Sunday
Call went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Rangers.
Starting in right field and batting leadoff with CJ Abrams getting a breather, Call took southpaw Jacob Latz (hand) deep in the fourth inning to get the Nationals on the board. Call has two homers on the season in 43 contests, and both came in the weekend series against Texas. The 30-year-old outfielder should continue to serve on the short side of a platoon with Robert Hassell in right field.

Nationals' Alex Call: Pops first homer
Call went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-0 win over the Rangers.
In a tight 1-0 game, Call gave the Nationals a bit of breathing room when he drove a first-pitch slider from Patrick Corbin over the fence in left-center field to lead off the seventh inning. The long ball was Call's first of the season, and while he has started three straight games, all three have come against left-handed pitching. With Jacob Young back from the injured list Friday and reclaiming his starting spot in center field, Call could remain in his short-side platoon role in right field, with Robert Hassell handling duties against righties until Dylan Crews (oblique) gets healthy. Call seems better suited to that role -- the 30-year-old has an .840 OPS against LHP in 51 plate appearances this year, versus a .734 mark in 91 PAs against RHP.

Nationals' Alex Call: Ceding starts to Hassell, Lile
Call is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
When Dylan Crews (oblique) and Jacob Young (shoulder) were placed on the injured list May 21 and 23, respectively, Call appeared to be in good position to move into an everyday role. Instead, Call has continued to serve as the Nationals' fourth outfielder, with prospects Robert Hassell and Daylen Lile getting regular playing time after being called up to replace the injured outfielders. Call will remain on the bench for the sixth time in as many games while the Nationals face off against another right-hander (Corbin Burnes), but he should spell either Hassell or Lile when Washington goes up against lefties.

Nationals' Alex Call: Playing time trending up
Call will start in left field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Giants, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Call will pick up his fourth start in five games, with his outlook for playing time having improved with both Dylan Crews (oblique) and Jacob Young (shoulder) on the injured list. The Nationals called up two of their top outfield prospects in Robert Hassell and Daylen Lile to replace them, but Call should occupy a regular spot in the lineup versus left-handed pitching while still being in the mix against righties, too. The 30-year-old has held his own in matchups with same-handed pitching this season, slashing .254/.393/.373 (122 wRC+) in his 86 plate appearances versus righties.

Nationals' Alex Call: Filling in for Crews on Thursday
Call will start in right field and bat seventh in Thursday's game against Atlanta.
Though Call still looks to be the Nationals' fourth outfielder, he's seen fairly steady playing time while manager Dave Martinez continues to dish out occasional days off for Dylan Crews, Jacob Young and Josh Bell. Crews will be the odd man out of the lineup Thursday, allowing Call to pick up his eighth start in 12 games.

Nationals' Alex Call: Back in fourth-outfielder role
Call is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Since turning in four two-hit performances in his first eight games of the season, Call has slashed just .111/.227/.111 over his ensuing eight contests. Call's downturn in productivity appears to have cost him an everyday role; he'll be on the bench for a fifth straight game Wednesday while Jacob Young and Dylan Crews have both picked up the pace at the plate of late and have usurped him as regular options in the Washington outfield.

Nationals' Alex Call: Not starting matinee
Call is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Rockies, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
After making starts in 11 of 12 games, Call finds himself on the bench for the second straight game. The 30-year-old has been productive early in 2025 with a .300/.415/.400 slash line and 10:3 BB:K through 54 plate appearances.

Nationals' Alex Call: Out of lineup Saturday
Call is not in the Nationals' starting lineup against the Rockies on Saturday.
Call will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout while Jacob Young starts in center field and bats eighth against Rockies right-hander Chase Dollander. Call has started the season slashing .300/.415/.400 with one stolen base, six runs scored and eight RBI in 54 plate appearances.

Nationals' Alex Call: Drives in lone run Wednesday
Call went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Pirates.
The Nationals didn't get on the board until the ninth inning, when Call brought Dylan Crews home on a sacrifice fly to center field. Call started the season strongly with three multi-hit efforts in his first eight contests, but he's cooled off and has gone 1-for-14 with three walks in his past five games.
