  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Taking seat in Game 3

Perkins is absent from the lineup Wednesday for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Cubs. Perkins started in center field in Games 1 and 2, reaching base three times and driving in a run, but he'll begin Wednesday's festivities on the bench. Brandon Lockridge is starting in center field and batting eighth for the Brewers.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Matches career high with five RBI

Perkins went 2-for-4 with five RBI, a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Angels. Perkins tied a career high with five RBI and also logged his fourth career triple. With Milwaukee's outfield mostly healthy, the switch hitter could remain hard-pressed for playing time to wrap up the season. Additionally, Perkins is slashing a woeful .225/.299/.359 with three home runs, 19 RBI, 25 runs scored and six stolen bases over 157 plate appearances on the year.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Out of Thursday's lineup

Perkins is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs. Perkins has received most of the reps in center field for the Brewers since Jackson Chourio (hamstring) went down, but he will begin Thursday's series finale on the bench. Brandon Lockridge will patrol center field and hit eighth in the batting order.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Back from bereavement list

The Brewers reinstated Perkins (personal) from the bereavement list Sunday. The 28-year-old was away from the team for the past few days to tend to a personal matter, but he's back for the series finale in Cincinnati. Perkins will bat sixth and start in center field Sunday, and he should operate as the primary option at the position with Jackson Chourio (hamstring) likely out for a couple more weeks.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Lands on bereavement list

The Brewers placed Perkins (personal) on the bereavement list Thursday. Perkins will step away from the team for a few days for personal reasons. Players can remain on the bereavement list for 3-to-7 games, so the outfielder should be back with the Brewers sometime next week. Brandon Lockridge could pick up some extra starts in center field in the meantime.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Goes yard twice in wild win

Perkins went 2-for-6 with two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 16-9 win over the Nationals. The switch hitter launched both blasts from the right side of the plate, taking Mitchell Parker deep in the second and fifth innings. The homers were the first of the season for Perkins, who is batting .281 (9-for-32) over 12 games since the All-Star break with five extra-base hits (two doubles, a triple, two home runs), two steals, six RBI and eight runs. With Jackson Chourio (hamstring) set to miss more than the 10-day minimum after being placed on the injured list Friday, Perkins should be in line for an everyday role over the next few weeks.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Clutch off bench

Perkins went 1-for-1 with an RBI single, a run scored and a stolen base during Sunday's 3-2 win over Miami. Perkins didn't make the starting nine Sunday, but he entered in the eighth inning as a pinch runner for William Contreras. The outfielder immediately swiped second base and then scored the game-tying run. In the ninth, Perkins stepped into the batter's box and walked it off with a single. Since joining the big-league club July 18, Perkins is 5-for-22 (.227) with three RBI, three runs scored and a pair of steals.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Brought up to bigs

The Brewers recalled Perkins from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Perkins will fill in for the IL-bound Sal Frelick (hamstring), marking Perkins' first MLB action of 2025. He suffered a fractured shin in February and picked up a groin injury during his recovery before being reinstated July 13. He should see regular playing time in right field while Frelick is shelved. Perkins notched a .648 OPS with 23 stolen bases in 434 plate appearances with the Brewers last season.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Hopes to re-start rehab Friday

Perkins (groin) hopes to re-start a rehab assignment Friday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Perkins had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment for a fractured shin when he suffered a left groin strain last week. He's evidently taken strides in his recovery, though, and should be back in game action soon. It's possible Perkins will be ready to rejoin the Brewers by the start of the second half or shortly after.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Targeting late-June assignment

Manager Pat Murphy said Thursday that the team hopes for Perkins (shin) to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on June 25, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports. A fractured right shin has kept Perkins on the injured list since the start of the regular season. He initially struggled to make progress after starting up his running program in May but has since turned a corner and now seems to be only a couple of weeks away from returning to a competitive setting. Assuming he doesn't run into any setbacks in his recovery, the 28-year-old outfielder should have a good chance to make his season debut before the All-Star break.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Progress stalling

Manager Pat Murphy said Saturday that Perkins (shin) still isn't able to run the bases on consecutive days without pain, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Perkins has been on the injured list all season after fracturing his shin during spring training. He's eligible to return from the IL on May 26, though his inability to run on consecutive days makes it likely his absence will extend into June, especially since he'll presumably need to spend some time in the minors on a rehab assignment before being activated. With Garrett Mitchell (oblique) also sidelined, Daz Cameron and Jake Bauers have been picking up reps in Milwaukee's outfield.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Out with fractured shin

Perkins was diagnosed with a right leg fracture Saturday after fouling a pitch off his shin during live batting practice, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Manager Pat Murphy said Perkins will require 3-to-4 weeks to recover, and he likely won't be able to play in games for the Brewers until May. The 28-year-old entered camp as the favorite to win a roster spot as Milwaukee's reserve outfielder, but his injury likely leaves the newly signed Manuel Margot as the frontrunner for the job.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Sitting again versus right-hander

Perkins is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies. It marks the third time over the Brewers' last four games versus right-handed pitching that Perkins has been absent from the lineup. Milwaukee is going with Garrett Mitchell in center field.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Back from injured list

The Brewers activated Perkins (calf) from the 10-day injured list Thursday. Perkins required a minimum-length absence for a right calf strain and didn't go out on a rehab assignment prior to being activated. The 27-year-old outfielder should be deployed mostly against left-handed pitching by the Brewers down the stretch.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Targeting Thursday return

Perkins (calf) will take batting practice Tuesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Assuming Perkins is able to avoid any setbacks, the plan is for him to return to the Brewers ahead of Thursday's series finale against the Cardinals. With Christian Yelich (back) set to miss the rest of the season, the 27-year-old Perkins will have more opportunities to start in Milwaukee's outfield, likely filling in for Sal Frelick or Garrett Mitchell against left-handed starters.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Goes on 10-day IL

The Brewers placed Perkins on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right calf strain. The outfielder will be sidelined for at least a week and a half with the injury, which he likely sustained in Sunday's loss to the Reds. In the meantime, infielder Tyler Black was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to replace Perkins on the major-league roster.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Three hits, two steals in win

Perkins went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Atlanta. Perkins had a pair of go-ahead hits, delivering an RBI single in the fifth inning and a two-run single in the sixth. He was one of four Brewers to log multiple hits in the contest. He's had inconsistent playing time, but the switch hitter typically is in the lineup versus southpaws, as Perkins continues to platoon with Garrett Mitchell in center field. Perkins is at a .260/.333/.367 slash line with 16 steals, six home runs, 34 RBI and 40 runs scored over 315 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Getting fifth straight start

Perkins will start in center field and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Pirates. Though he'll stick in the lineup for a fifth straight start after going 4-for-15 with a home run, three walks and a stolen base across the prior four contests, Perkins still looks to be the Brewers' fourth outfielder. Each of Perkins' prior four starts came against left-handers, and he'll remain in the lineup Thursday against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes while Jackson Chourio exits the starting nine in what appears to be a routine off day. Some combination of Chourio, Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick and Christian Yelich still appears to be the Brewers' preferred starting outfield trio and designated hitter versus right-handed pitching.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Registers steal Wednesday

Perkins went 0-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Pirates. Perkins was hitless for just the second time over six games in July, but he was still able to make an impact on the bases. The outfielder is 6-for-19 (.316) with three walks this month. For the season, he has 14 steals on 16 attempts, six home runs, 28 RBI, 38 runs scored and a .249/.326/.365 slash line through 279 plate appearances. The switch hitter has benefited from a run of four straight opposing southpaws, starting each of those games to give Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick each two off days. Perkins doesn't have a spot in the lineup regularly against right-handers and hasn't started against one since June 28.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Back on bench after three starts

Perkins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers. Perkins had started in center field in each of the last three games, but he'll retreat to the bench Wednesday and still looks to be viewed as the team's fourth outfielder. Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio will form the Milwaukee outfield from left to right Wednesday and look to be manager Pat Murphy's preferred trio against right-handed pitching.
