  • Dodgers' Chris Okey: Back with champs

Okey signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training. Although Okey slashed just .236/.282/.327 across 178 plate appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City last season, the Dodgers will bring him back to serve as organizational depth for another year. It's highly unlikely he will spend any time in the big leagues in 2025.

  • Dodgers' Chris Okey: Signs with Dodgers

Okey signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Jan. 3. Okey slashed .281/.345/.414 with 26 RBI across 235 plate appearances last season with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate. Now with the Dodgers, the 29-year-old backstop will provide organizational depth and will only potentially see the majors if Will Smith or Austin Barnes are forced to miss time.

  • Angels' Chris Okey: Designated for assignment

The Angels designated Okey for assignment Saturday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. It clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Eduardo Escobar after he was acquired in the three-player deal with the Mets on Friday. Okey could see interest on the waiver wire for a team looking for catching depth, but if he goes unclaimed he'll likely head back to Triple-A Salt Lake

  • Angels' Chris Okey: Heads to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Okey to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. With Chad Wallach (concussion) back from the 7-day injured list, the Angels no longer had a need for Okey as an extra catcher. The 28-year-old struck out in his only two plate appearances during his brief stint with the big club.

  • Chris Okey: Cut loose by Cincy

The Reds released Okey on Aug. 13. Okey saw action in seven big-league games with the Reds earlier this season, but even with Tyler Stephenson (collarbone) and Aramis Garcia (finger) out with long-term injuries, the organization didn't elect to keep Okey around as catching depth. Before getting released, Okey had been playing at Triple-A Louisville, where he slashed .220/.279/.356 across 129 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Chris Okey: DFA'd on Tuesday

The Reds designated Okey for assignment Tuesday. The depth catcher went 2-for-12 with the Reds in June and doesn't figure to draw much interest on waivers, so chances are he'll remain with Triple-A Louisville.

  • Reds' Chris Okey: Slated to join major-league club

Okey will have his contract selected by the Reds on Friday after Tyler Stephenson sustained a fractured thumb, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Okey spent the last two seasons at Triple-A Louisville, and he slashed .265/.324/.441 with a homer, 12 runs and nine RBI over 24 games at the to begin the 2022 campaign. The 27-year-old should provide depth at catcher behind Aramis Garcia while Stephenson is unavailable.
