Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Scheduled for surgery Thursday
Gurriel will undergo ACL surgery Thursday and is expected to need at least 9-to-10 months of recovery, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Gurriel tore his ACL on Sept. 2, which will force him out for the rest of the 2025 season as well as much of the upcoming 2026 season. If the reported recovery timeline stays true for the outfielder, he might be able to return in June or July of next year.

Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Out with torn ACL
Gurriel was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a torn ACL in his right knee.
The 31-year-old suffered the injury in left field during Monday's contest and will now miss the rest of the season. Gurriel closes out 2025 with 19 homers, a career-high 10 steals and a .248/.295/.418 slash line in 129 games. The veteran outfielder has a $13 million player option for 2026, which he seems likely to exercise since he's now poised to be unavailable for the start of next season.

Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Dealing with knee injury
Gurriel suffered a right knee injury in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to the Rangers, Megan Plain of Fox 10 Phoenix reports.
Gurriel was carted off the field after wiping out in left field in the sixth inning, and it is now understood to be a knee injury. Manager Torey Lovullo said following the game that Gurriel will undergo imaging on his right knee Tuesday and that "it doesn't look great." With less than a month remaining in the 2025 season, it's certainly possible that the injury could prove to be season-ending for the 31-year-old.

Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Exits after hustle play
Gurriel (lower body) was forced to exit Monday's contest against the Rangers in the top of the sixth inning, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Gurriel was hustling to a flyball in left center before awkwardly falling in the top of the sixth inning. Center fielder Blaze Alexander actually came up with the ball on a diving attempt, recording a lineout by Rowdy Tellez to end the frame. After remaining down for a series of moments, Gurriel required a cart to get off the field. He was able to put weight on his feet and get into the cart himself, but it's a rather significant turn of events regardless. More information on his status will likely come in the near future.

It was part of a five-run sixth for the Diamondbacks, who took a while to get their bats going after travel delays forced them to arrive in Milwaukee early Monday morning. Gurriel continued to produce with men on base this month, having knocked in 32 runs in 23 August games. He's up to 80 RBI for the season, four shy of the career-best 84 posted in 2021 when Gurriel played for Toronto.
