Red Sox's Chadwick Tromp: Inks minors deal with Red Sox
The Red Sox signed Tromp to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
Tromp elected free agency last week after being removed from the Orioles' 40-man roster, but he will stay in the division. The veteran backstop will give Boston some experienced depth at the catcher position.

Chadwick Tromp: Elects free agency after IL stint
Tromp (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday and elected free agency instead of an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
The Orioles appeared to not have room on the 26-man roster for Tromp due to Adley Rutschman (oblique) being close to a return from the IL. Rather than stay in the organization in Triple-A, Tromp opted to hit the free-agent market. Now that he's fully recovered from a lower back strain, the 30-year-old should garner interest from teams looking to add backstop depth. Tromp is slashing .250/.330/.370 with three home runs and 12 RBI across 103 plate appearances in Triple-A this season.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Starting rehab assignment
Tromp (back) will begin a rehab assignment at Single-A Delmarva on Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Tromp resumed baseball activities shortly before the All-Star break, and he's been cleared to see game action. The catcher has been idle since July 1 after sustaining a lower back strain. He could be back with the big club before the end of July.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Back to baseball activities
Tromp (back) has resumed doing full baseball activities, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Tromp has been sidelined since July 1 due to a lower back strain but appears to be progressing well. He is on track to be the first of Baltimore's four injured catchers to return, as Maverick Handley (concussion) is still at least a week away from swinging a bat, Gary Sanchez (knee) will miss at least two months and Adley Rutschman (oblique) is only hitting off a tee. Regardless, Tromp still has multiple hurdles to clear before being activated and won't be back until after the All-Star break.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Not ready for baseball activities
Orioles manager Tony Mansolino said Sunday that Tromp (back) hasn't been cleared to resume baseball activities, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Tromp is one of four Orioles catchers on the 40-man roster who resides on the injured list. Like Tromp, Maverick Handley (concussion) and Gary Sanchez (knee) are also shut down from activities, while Adley Rutschman (oblique) has resumed running and taking swings off a tee but still appears to be weeks away from a return. The Orioles appear set to get by with Jacob Stallings and Alex Jackson as their catching tandem through the All-Star break, and likely to begin the second half.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Lands on injured list
The Orioles placed Tromp (back) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
The 30-year-old is now the third catcher on Baltimore's injured list, joining Adley Rutschman (oblique) and Maverick Handley (concussion). Tromp will be eligible to be reinstated July 11, though it's unclear if he's expected to be healthy by that point. Jacob Stallings was added to the MLB roster Tuesday to serve as the backup to Gary Sanchez.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Diagnosed with lower back strain
Tromp has been diagnosed with a lower back strain and is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Tromp was removed from Monday night's eventual extra-innings win over the Rangers in the third inning. Gary Sanchez had to take over at catcher, and Texas went 4-for-4 on stolen bases afterward. Adley Rutschman (oblique) and Maverick Handley (concussion) are still on the injured list for the Orioles. Top prospect Samuel Basallo remains at Triple-A Norfolk, where he's slashing .264/.390/.579 with 16 home runs, 37 RBI and 37 runs scored across 218 plate appearances. Veteran Jacob Stallings is also in Norfolk. Neither catcher is currently on the 40-man roster.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Leaves with back tightness
Tromp exited Monday night's game against the Blue Jays with lower back tightness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Gary Sanchez moved from designated hitter to catcher in the bottom of the third inning, and starting pitcher Trevor Rogers entered the lineup in the nine spot. Prior to leaving, Tromp went 0-for-1 at the plate. With both Adley Rutschman (oblique) and Maverick Handley (concussion) on the injured list, Sanchez looks likely to handle catching duties for Baltimore in the immediate future.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Added to roster
The Orioles selected Tromp's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. He'll start at catcher and bat ninth in the Orioles' series opener versus the Rangers.
With Adley Rutschman (oblique) and Maverick Handley (concussion) on the injured list, Tromp will serve as the Orioles' backup catcher behind Gary Sanchez. Tromp is a career .219/.229/.375 hitter over parts of six major-league seasons.

Tromp elected free agency after clearing waivers Tuesday, but after spending less than a day on the open market, he'll return to his previous organization. The 30-year-old backstop has slashed .254/.338/.413 through 71 plate appearances in Triple-A this year.

Chadwick Tromp: Becomes free agent
Tromp elected to become a free agent Tuesday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
He passed through waivers after being removed from the Orioles' 40-man roster, but Tromp has decided to look for a gig elsewhere rather than accept an outright assignment. The 30-year-old shouldn't have an issue finding another organization in need of catching depth.

Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Sent outright to Triple-A
The Orioles outrighted Tromp to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, per MLB's transactions log.
Tromp was cast off the 40-man roster Saturday and will report to Triple-A after failing to draw interest while on the waiver wire. He's batting .254 with three home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored across 20 games with the Tides this season.

The Orioles designated Tromp for assignment Saturday.
Just five days after being added to the active roster, Tromp will lose his spot in favor of Jordyn Adams, who was selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday. Tromp went 0-for-4 during his time in Baltimore and has slashed .254/.338/.413 in 71 minor-league plate appearances this season.

The Orioles selected Tromp's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.
Tromp will provide temporary depth at the catcher position after Adley Rutschman (head) sustained what appears to be a minor injury Sunday. Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Nets MiLB deal from Baltimore
The Orioles signed Tromp to a minor-league contract Sunday.
Tromp elected free agency after being removed from Atlanta's 40-man roster last week and he's now caught on with Baltimore, where he'll provide catching depth. With Adley Rutschman and Gary Sanchez holding down the top two catching spots with the big club, Tromp will need an injury or two before being considered for the majors.

Chadwick Tromp: Elects free agency
Tromp elected free agency Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Tromp was designated for assignment over the weekend and cleared waivers. Instead of reporting to Triple-A Gwinnett, Tromp has chosen to see what else is out there on the open market. The 30-year-old catcher has a career .224/.235/.385 slash line across 162 big-league plate appearances.

Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Loses 40-man roster spot
Atlanta designated Tromp for assignment Sunday.
With Sean Murphy (rib) completing his rehab assignment and ready to return from the 10-day injured list in advance of the big club's next game Tuesday versus Philadelphia, Atlanta elected to activate him a couple days early. Tromp ended up being the casualty, as he'll surrendered his spot on the 26-man active roster to Tromp while also losing his spot on the 40-man roster since he doesn't have minor-league options remaining. Atlanta is hopeful Tromp will go unclaimed off waivers and stick around in the organization as catching depth at Triple-A Gwinnett. Tromp appeared in just two of Atlanta's first nine games while Drake Baldwin dominated the playing time behind the plate.

Braves' Chadwick Tromp: On track for 26-man roster
Tromp will likely back up rookie Drake Baldwin at catcher on Atlanta's Opening Day roster, Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Sean Murphy (ribs) will begin the season on the IL, opening the door for Baldwin to make his big-league debut. Had Murphy not been injured, Tromp likely would have been the No. 2 backstop anyway, as he's out of minor-league options, but if Baldwin shows he's ready for the majors over the first weeks of the year, Tromp could be squeezed off the roster when Murphy returns.

Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Favorite for backup job
Tromp is the leading candidate to back up Sean Murphy behind the plate for Atlanta to begin the season, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
The 29-year-old has never gotten more than 64 big-league plate appearances in a season and has just a .232/.237/.397 slash line for his career, but Atlanta is comfortable with his defense and game-calling. Tromp's main competition for a spot on the Opening Day roster will likely come from top prospect Drake Baldwin, although veteran backstops Curt Casali and Sandy Leon will also be in camp for Atlanta.
