Reds' Emilio Pagan: Ramping up activity
Pagan (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is scheduled to pitch in a simulated game/live batting practice session at Yankee Stadium on Friday, MLB.com reports.
Pagan, who threw a bullpen session over the weekend, has stacked up a few sessions and is moving on to live batting practice. The next step for the Reds' closer will be a rehab assignment. Pagan could rejoin the team by the end of June.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Ready to throw live BP
Pagan (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Per MLB.com, Pagan had already tossed a pair of bullpen sessions, so this is the next step in his recovery, with a rehab assignment potentially on the horizon. Pagan has been on the shelf since May 6 due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, and the Reds' closer situation has been mostly a mess in his absence.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Increasing activity
Pagan (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Saturday and is expected to throw another Monday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
If Pagan comes out of Monday's session without incident, then he could face live hitters as soon as Friday. A separate report on MLB.com indicates the reliever will throw a simulated game/live BP on Tuesday. However the schedule shakes out, Pagan is ramping up activity and could be back with the Reds before the end of June.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: MRI scheduled
Pagan (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday, MLB.com reports.
This is expected to be a check-in for Pagan to see how much healing has taken place. The Reds really need their closer back, as the bullpen lost another game Friday. Pending the results of the MRI, Pagan could begin a rehab assignment next week.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Could throw off mound soon
Pagan (hamstring) will be re-assessed for strength deficit on Monday, MLB.com reports.
Pending the results of that testing, Pagan could begin throwing from a mound immediately after. From there, he'll move on to facing batters and then a rehab assignment. Originally given a four-to-eight week timeline for a return, Pagan just passed the four-week mark.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: MRI shows healing
Pagan (hamstring) underwent an MRI exam Friday that showed positive results, MLB.com reports.
As a result, the reliever has been cleared to run on an anti-gravity treadmill. Pagan was removed from a game May 5 and placed on the 15-day injured list the next day due to a hamstring strain. He's eligible to return at any point but he's still well within his original return timeline of four-to-eight weeks.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: MRI coming Friday
Pagan (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday to check on his healing, MLB.com reports.
Pagan has been doing what he can without stressing the hamstring, including throwing from his knees. Friday's imaging could determine if the reliever can handle more activity and make clearer the timeline for Pagan's return. At the time of his injury in early May, the estimate was between four and eight weeks.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Throwing from knees
Pagan (hamstring) is throwing from his knees in order to keep throwing while not putting stress on his strained hamstring, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox19.com reports.
Naturally, Pagan is eager to return, but we've seen plenty of setbacks from players trying to return from muscle injuries like this one. The Reds' bullpen has been cratering without Pagan, so the Reds will have to straddle their desire to get him back, his desire to return and his need to fully heal.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Move to IL made official
The Reds placed Pagan on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamstring strain.
Pagan suffered the injury on the first pitch he threw during an appearance Tuesday against the Cubs. It's the second time this season he's had a left hamstring issue. He was unavailable for only a couple days the first time, but the reliever will miss at least a couple weeks of action this time around. Tony Santillan is the favorite to serve as the Reds' closer while Pagan is sidelined, and Graham Ashcraft could also be in the mix.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Expected to miss 4-to-8 weeks
Pagan said Wednesday that he's been diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain and is expected to be sidelined 4-to-8 weeks, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Pagan aggravated a nagging hamstring issue on his first pitch of an appearance during Tuesday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Cubs and was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier Wednesday. With Pagan slated to miss at least a month of action, the Reds are likely to turn to Tony Santillan at closer, with Graham Ashcraft also potentially in the mix.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Ticketed for injured list
The Reds will place Pagan (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Pagan had to leave Tuesday's game in a cart after suffering a left hamstring injury on the first pitch he threw -- the second time he's injured his hamstring in roughly three weeks. He isn't scheduled to undergo imaging until Wednesday, but the Reds have already determined that his injury is severe enough to warrant a stay on the IL. Tony Santillan and Graham Ashcraft will be the favorites to handle the ninth inning for as long as Pagan is on the shelf.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Carted off field
Pagan was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cubs with a left hamstring injury, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Pagan fell to the ground after throwing one pitch in the ninth inning of Tuesday's contest and immediately began grabbing his left hamstring. The 34-year-old righty was unavailable for a few games in mid-April after tweaking the same hamstring, and although the details of his latest injury are still unknown, the fact that he had to leave the game on a cart suggests he could now be forced to spend time on the injured list. If that ends up being the case, Tony Santillan and Graham Ashcraft would be next up to close games for the Reds.
