  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Earns 24th save

Diaz earned the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Mariners, allowing one run on two hits and no walks with two strikeouts over two innings. Diaz was tasked with a two-inning save and converted despite giving up a solo homer in the ninth. The 31-year-old has surrendered long balls in two of his past three outings, but those are the only earned runs he's allowed over his last 22 appearances dating back to June 6. On the year, he's 24-for-26 in save chances with a 1.69 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 70:17 K:BB across 48 innings.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Serves up walkoff homer

Diaz (5-2) took the loss Sunday against the Brewers, giving up one run on one hit in one-third of an inning. The Mets headed into the eighth inning with a 6-5 lead, but Ryan Helsley blew the save and needed to be replaced by Diaz to get the final out of the frame. The team's closer had his own struggles in the ninth however, as Isaac Collins took him deep to walk it off. It was the first earned run Diaz had been tagged with since April 21, but both his losses on the season have come in three August appearances, as he allowed the phantom runner to score in an extra-inning loss to the Giants on Aug. 1. Despite those recent setbacks, the 31-year-old right-hander has a stellar 1.60 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 67:17 K:BB through 45 innings in 2025, converting 23 of 25 save chances.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Stuck with first loss

Diaz (5-1) took the loss Friday as the Mets fell to the Giants, giving up an unearned run on a hit and a walk in the 10th inning. He struck out one. New York forced an extra inning with a rally in the eighth inning, but Diaz couldn't prevent the phantom runner from crossing the plate in the top of the 10th. The Mets added former Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley to their bullpen at the trade deadline to fill a setup role, but Diaz remains entrenched in the top job -- he hasn't been tagged for an earned run since June 2, delivering a 0.82 ERA and 26:9 K:BB over his last 18.1 innings along with an unsullied ERA.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Works out of trouble for save

Diaz walked two and hit a batter while striking out two over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants. Diaz loaded the bases with one out but was able to clean up the mess without snapping his scoreless streak, which is up to 17.1 innings. The closer's lone mistake in that span was allowing an inherited runner to score July 20 versus the Reds to take a blown save. He's plunked four batters over his last five appearances, but he's not at risk of losing closing duties at this time. For the season, Diaz has been elite with a 1.48 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 64:16 K:BB while converting 23 of 25 save chances through 42.2 innings.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Secures 22nd save

Diaz picked up the save in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Giants. He allowed one hit and no walks across a scoreless inning. He struck out one. The closer gave up a one-out double to Jung Hoo Lee but bounced back to retire Mike Yastrzemski and Patrick Bailey, locking down his 22nd save of the season. Diaz's numbers in 2025 are beginning to resemble his monstrous 2022 campaign, when he posted a 1.31 ERA and 0.84 WHIP over 62 regular-season innings with 32 saves. This season, the right-hander holds a 1.51 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across 41.2 innings. While his fastball velocity is down slightly to a career-low 97.0 MPH (compared to 97.5 MPH in 2024), the small dip hasn't impacted his dominance on the mound.

Diaz struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 6-3 win over the Angels. He did hit two batters with pitches, one in the eighth inning and one in the ninth, but Diaz immediately struck out the next hitter each time. Diaz earned the save in Monday's 7-5 victory over the Angels, striking out three in a clean inning. Over that span, the New York closer has pitched to a stellar 20:3 K:BB and 0.71 WHIP across 14 innings. Through 39.1 total frames, Diaz sports a 1.60 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 59:14 K:BB while converting 20 of 22 save opportunities.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Blows save but picks up win Sunday

Diaz (5-0) was credited with the win after blowing a save opportunity Sunday against the Reds, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless one-third of an inning. Brought in to protect a one-run lead with one on and two outs in the top of the eighth inning, Diaz loaded the bases with a walk and a single before plunking Spencer Steer to bring home the tying run, which was charged to Reed Garrett. Diaz then didn't come back out for the ninth after throwing 16 pitches, only six of which were strikes. Not counting the All-Star Game, it was the Mets' closer's first blown save since June 2, which was also the last time he gave up a run. Over his last 13 appearances, Diaz has posted a 0.77 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB in 13 innings to go along with his pristine 0.00 ERA while picking up two wins and six saves.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Secures two-inning save

Diaz walked one and struck out one over two scoreless and hitless innings to earn the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Royals. It's just the fourth time all season Diaz has been asked to go more than one inning, but he was fresh Sunday, as his last appearance was Tuesday. Diaz got the job done with 13 pitches in the eighth inning and a tidy nine-pitch ninth to secure his 19th save in 20 chances. He'd strike out Jake Bauers to retire the side before setting Milwaukee down in order in the ninth, securing his 16th save in 17 chances this year. Diaz has turned in eight straight scoreless appearances (7.2 innings), allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out 10 in that span. • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Escapes with 15th save

Diaz earned the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Nationals, allowing a walk and a hit in a scoreless inning. After Ryne Stanek allowed three straight hits to lead off the ninth, the Mets turned to Diaz to protect a 4-1 lead with the tying run at the plate. Diaz was shaky initially, walking Nathaniel Lowe to load the bases before allowing a base hit to Josh Bell that cut the lead to 4-2. The Nats would scratch across one more run on a wild pitch before Diaz induced a pair of groundouts to strand the tying run on third base. The 31-year-old improves to 15-for-16 in save chances this year. He's allowed just one earned run in his last 18.2 innings, lowering his ERA to 2.22 with a 0.95 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB across 28.1 innings this season.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Blows first save of season

Diaz (3-0) blew a save but earned the win over the Dodgers on Monday, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two batters over one inning. Diaz came into Monday 13-for-13 in save opportunities on the season, but he wasn't able to hold a 2-1 Mets lead in the ninth inning. The right-hander gave up the tying run on a Shohei Ohtani sacrifice fly after two of the first three batters he faced reached base on singles, though Diaz was able to strike out Teoscar Hernandez with the winning run on second base. The closer then earned the victory as a result of the Mets scoring twice in the 10th inning. The run allowed by Diaz was the first earned run charged to him over his past 14 outings, and he still holds an excellent 2.49 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 39:11 K:BB through 25.1 innings this season.

It was Diaz's 12th straight appearance without allowing an earned run, a stretch in which he's collected a win and five saves with a 16:5 K:BB in 12.2 innings. The month-long hot streak has shaved his ratios on the season down to a 2.42 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, numbers right in line with Diaz's career performance.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Strikes out three for 11th save

Diaz earned a save against the Dodgers on Saturday, striking out three batters in 1.1 perfect innings. He struck out Mookie Betts to end the threat, then fanned both Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman en route to retiring the side in order in the ninth to close out the contest. Diaz extended his stretch of appearances without allowing an earned run to 11, and during that span he's posted a 15:4 K:BB across 11.1 frames while picking up four saves. The veteran right-hander is a perfect 11-for-11 in save opportunities on the campaign, once again cementing himself as one of MLB's best closers.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Perfect in save No. 10

Diaz struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 10th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Yankees. The veteran right-hander's adrenaline was pumping, and Diaz topped out at 100 mph on a fastball before fanning Aaron Judge with a 98.6 mph heater to end the game. That's a big step up from the career-low 96.6 mph Diaz has been averaging with the pitch this season, and it's an encouraging sign as he produced his eighth straight appearance without allowing an earned run. The 31-year-old sports a 3.00 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB through 18 innings, and he's a perfect 10-for-10 in converting save chances.
