  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Connects for homer in win

Polanco went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Athletics. Polanco snapped a 12-game homerless drought in the seventh inning. During that span, he went 7-for-44 (.159) with one double, three RBI and 15 strikeouts. Polanco has struggled with consistency throughout much of the season with a handful of lengthy slumps on his ledger. He's at a .246/.310/.445 slash line with 19 homers, 55 RBI, 45 runs scored and five stolen bases across 107 contests.

Polanco is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Philadelphia. The switch-hitting Polanco has now been excluded from the lineup for the third time in the Mariners' last four matchups versus left-handed starters, as southpaw Jesus Luzardo will be on the hill for Philadelphia on Wednesday. Polanco -- who is slashing just .242/.286/.348 versus lefties this season -- will again give way to Mitch Garver at designated hitter.

Polanco went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Athletics on Wedneday. The long ball was his 17th of the campaign, marking the most he has hit during a regular season since he went deep 33 times for Minnesota in 2021. Part of Polanco's increase in production this year has been due to health. He's had a few nagging issues but has been able to play in 90 games so far. after averaging just 100 regular-season contests over the past three campaigns.

Polanco will miss a third straight start in Monday's series opener against the Royals due to left knee soreness but is expected back in the lineup Tuesday, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports. Polanco tweaked his surgically repaired knee while stumbling over first base in a game last week against the White Sox. The good news is Polanco met over the weekend with the doctor that performed his offseason operation, and he was given clearance to play. Mitch Garver is serving as Seattle's designated hitter for Monday's game versus the Royals.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Homers in Friday's win

Polanco went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 7-2 win over the Guardians. Polanco's bat is coming around -- he's hit safely in eight straight games, going 11-for-34 (.324) in that span. The homer was his first since May 12 versus the Yankees. Polanco is up to a .266/.312/.484 slash line, 11 homers, 33 RBI, 23 runs scored and two stolen bases over 56 contests, though his power has dropped significantly since the start of May. He spent much of last month batting second, but he's been between fourth and sixth in the lineup over the last five games, and the move down the order seems to be paying off.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Not starting Tuesday

Polanco is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Nationals on Tuesday. Polanco has been dealing with a sore side for most of the season, which has made it uncomfortable batting as a right-hander. With southpaw Mitchell Parker taking the mound for the Nationals, Polanco will begin Tuesday's game on the bench while Mitch Garver serves as the designated hitter and bats fifth. Polanco has slashed .155/.234/.241 with one home run and five RBI in 64 plate appearances since the beginning of May.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Sitting in second straight game

Polanco is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. The switch-hitting Polanco still isn't fully comfortable batting as a right-hander while he's been managing a sore side for much of the season, so the Mariners will hold him out of the lineup for a second straight day while the Astros send another southpaw (Colton Gordon) to the bump. Mitch Garver will replace Polanco as Seattle's designated hitter.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Homers in loss

Polanco went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 11-5 loss to the Yankees. This was Polanco's first homer in May. He's struggled early this month, going 6-for-31 (.194) over his last nine contests, though three of those hits have gone for extra bases. It's likely some natural regression after his sizzling start to the 2025 campaign. The infielder has a .327/.372/.673 slash line with 10 homers, 29 RBI, 17 runs scored, one stolen base and six doubles over 31 games.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Back at DH spot Wednesday

Polanco will serve as the Mariners' designated hitter and No. 2 batter in Wednesday's game against the Athletics. In Tuesday's 5-3 win, Polanco drew a start at second base, which marked his first start in the infield since April 4. Polanco had been limited to DH duties for the past month while managing a side injury that affects his throwing and inhibits him when he bats from the right side of the plate, but his usage at the keystone offers hope that he may be nearing the finish line in his recovery. The Mariners plan to have Polanco serve as their everyday third baseman once the injury is fully behind him, but he may have started at second base Tuesday due to the shorter throws that he would need to make at the position.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Out again versus lefty

Polanco is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Angels. The switch-hitting Polanco still hasn't been cleared to hit from the right side of the plate while he manages a side injury, though he told Adam Jude of The Seattle Times on April 16 that he's felt well enough to hit off a tee. Polanco will continue to hold down a regular spot in the lineup at designated hitter against right-handed pitching, but the Mariners will continue to shield him from lefties like the Angels' Tyler Anderson until he's 100 percent while swinging the bat from the right side. Cal Raleigh will replace Polanco as the Mariners' DH on Wednesday.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Stays hot with three-run homer

Polanco went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's loss to Miami. Polanco stayed hot Friday, having now homered in two of his last three games and logged a hit in seven of his last eight. On the season, the veteran switch hitter is batting .344 with five long balls, two doubles, 16 RBI and one stolen base over 61 at-bats. Although a side issue is currently preventing him from batting right-handed, Polanco is worth a look for fantasy rosters in need of infield help in shallower leagues while he's swinging such a hot bat.
